Hey all,

So I have been torn between these two schools for over a week trying to decide where to attend. I know that Tufts has a stronger reputation for research, but by rankings UVM is better for Primary Care. The thing is that I am really not sure what I want to do, and most of the specialties I am drawn to (EM, Gen Surg, Psych) do not fall under either category.

After visiting UVM excited me more, and part of me want to get out of Boston (I grew and did UG there), but Tufts seems to be the more prestigious and safer choice academically.

What do you all think? Are UVM and Tufts comparable in rep and quality, or is one the easy choice over the other?

For these schools, I wouldn't worry about the difference in rankings. Prestige-wise, they are overall the same.

I also know Tufts is very expensive.

As an OOS student, UVM is equally as expensive if not slightly more (which would be offset by the cost of living in Boston). If you want to get out of Boston then go to UVM. I interviewed there and loved it. Just remember one thing: UVM is shiny and new to you now, but you'll be there for four years. Will you get bored of Burlington over four years? If the answer is no, then choose UVM. If you think you'd rather live in a bigger city, choose Tufts. Given those choices I would personally choose Tufts, however that's my own personal preference.
