So, it appears that if someone is accepted to GW they get an email. So I haven't had any email yet (its 7 weeks out from my interview) but I just checked my status today, and it changed to: "correspondance concerning the status of your application has been sent to you via postal mail..."

Does this mean wait-list or rejection?

i'm sorry to say, i think so 🙁
 
that's alright. i already have one acceptance at my state school. I just thought my stats were pretty good for the school. you never know, i guess.

Time to move on!
 
i just got waitlisted at this school. some 'high priority' wait list. does that mean anything? what are the chances of getting in off the waitlist historically?

Did you get the waitlist notification through snail mail? or was it emailed?
 
snail mail. date november 12th (2 weeks after i interviewed). got it yesterday (the 25th). so it took 2 more weeks to get to me. note that i am in canada.

How did you find out which type of waitlist (high, low..) you are on?
 
it said on the snail mail. i dont think it really means anything though.

I will soon begin to prepare for my December 11th interview at GW. I have looked at the feedback forum, but I was wondering if anyone who has interviewed this cycle could offer some useful advice or tips- especially those who have been accepted.

When did you interview? I'm anxious to know my fate. Getting super nervous and antsy. Please please please, some good luck come my way.
 
Copacetic what are your stats? I am also cdn and im waiting to hear back (I can't access your mdapplicants).

Do you think its ok to call the school and ask when the ad comm meets? I dont think anyone here knows when/how often they meet and I would like to know since i sent my financial certificate in late.
 
Looking forward to my interview at GW on December 18th, let me know if you'll be there with me! Anyone know how many people they usually have there to interview on any given day?

p.s. To those who have already interviewed--what do you wish you would have known about the school/interview day, etc. before going?! Any comments or advice are greatly appreciated
 
I interviewed with about 15 other kids. The chick who gave the tour was really nice. She was a student over at the public health school. She was cracking jokes left and right during the tour to make everyone feel comfortable. Most of the info in the GW applicant guide is repeated during the interview. Just show them you have what it takes to study medicine on a "global stage" Thats basically what GW is about.
 
My status page changed from:

"Your application is currently under review"

to

"Your application is complete and has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee"

Any idea what is coming next? Is this... The End?
 
Mine just changed to the same thing...I'd certainly like to know the answer to that one.

My status just changed to that this morning as well...very ambiguous message.
 
So about a week ago, my status finally changed to say that my application was currently under review. I've been checking it obsessively since then, and today it changed to "Your application to The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences is complete and has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee." If it says this and I haven't gotten the interview invite e-mail, does it mean rejection? Or should I just calm down because the status just changed and maybe the e-mail will take a day or two?

GW is one of my top choices, I'd be bummed if this = rejection :scared:
 
I was on pre-interview hold.. I got this message too. I'm assuming its the same for you guys. Maybe I'll call a little later, I dont want to speculate what it means
 
LoL, I see a lot of us are in the same situation and noticed it at the exact same time. :laugh:
 
Yeah I'll bet its a pre-interview hold. Damn. Guess they just haven't decided to do with the bunch of us yet.
 
i called a few weeks ago and they told me i was on pre-interview hold.. they probably just got around to changing our statuses.. ? hopefully ! i don't want to be rejectedddd from here
 
Hey i just got the same your application is complete and has been reviewed by the admissions committee status update. I was complete at this school in mid august. I really wish they wouldnt string us along for so long, this process is WAY too long. Anyone have any idea what this status update means?
 
Add me to the list of people who got the same message this morning. I sure hope it's a hold and not a rejection...
 
Looks like everyone that got this message has fairly similar stats Mcats 30-33 and gpa 3.5-3.8.
 
Last year's MSAR has GWU's stats as 3.6 and 30, so I'm optimistic that it's just a hold.
 
I got the message, too. I wish they'd just tell me I'm rejected already so I can move on....
 
Yeh man i totally feel the same way, getting put on hold or a waitlist sucks it just a nicer way of rejecting people 99% of the time while stretching out the waiting period about 8 months.

It feels like purgatory!
 
I am also anxiously awaiting post-interview news. I interviewed on October 23rd. From what I gather from other people who have interviewed, it generally takes 7 weeks to hear back.
 
I also got that message, but mine was longer. Is everyone just shortening theirs or am I the only one who got this one?

To date, no final decision has been made and the Admissions Committee has placed your application on hold for re-review at a later date. Is this the same thing everyone else had? It's obviously a pre-interview hold, but I wasn't sure if you guys had the same message about re-review.
 
I interviewed on Oct 7th and still haven't heard anything😱

Yeah mine says that now. Someone is busy over there changing statuses....
 
mine just changed to. there's a busy status-changing person out there somewhere...
 
so we didn't get second round interview invite 🙁
 
Ditto here. At least it clears up that it's a hold and not a rejection.
 
Mine just changed to the longer version too. I'm glad it's cleared up, but I absolutely hate waiting.....

I interviewed during the third week of October and haven't heard anything yet ... but considering how many people were at my interview day, I'm not surprised they are taking a while to get through all the applications. I only got the "tell us what you have been doing since graduation" email a couple of weeks ago, so I'm expecting to wait for at least another couple of weeks now.
 
Also mid-Oct, with no news. I sent an update letter, but not too sure if that will help me or not. I really love GWU and can picture myself proudly going there.
 
Did anyone who has been complete a while NOT get that hold message?

utahjazz, my status has not changed from the following since my secondary was received:

We have received all the necessary credentials including letters of recommendation in order for your application to be reviewed. While the committee does its best to review applications in a timely manner, please be aware that it may be a while until you hear from us again. We greatly appreciate your patience during the application process.

Please note that although this site is updated weekly, your status may remain unchanged for several weeks as your application goes through a comprehensive review process.
