Just out of curiousity guys, for those on a post interview alt list, what are your stats?
got that message too
by the looks of it people from previous years dont have much luck once on the alternate list
apparently 70% of the class was filled via alt list 2 years ago, but last year only 5 people.
Do they reject anyone post interview?
The wait to hear back post-interview is excruciating!!!!! Interviewed Nov. 21st...seems like ages ago 👎
Looks Like I'm an alternate. I hope I get off the wait list. Does anyone know what percentage of students are accepted off the wait list at GW? 😳
anyone hear for an interview recently?
recently I got this status message on my account:
Your application to The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences is complete and has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee. To date, no final decision has been made and the Admissions Committee has placed your application on hold for re-review at a later date. If we require any further documentation or if your status changes, we will contact you immediately. We do sincerely appreciate your interest in our program. Thank you for your patience.
Can anyone shed light on this? Is this a nice way of saying rejection?
As of 35 minutes ago, I've been accepted into George Washington University's Class of 2013!
Good luck to the rest of you!
congrats, when did u interview?

It's been 8+ weeks for me and i still haven't heard back from GW. Ugh... i feel an ulcer forming in the dark and bottomless pit that is my stomach.
/melodrama
I went to the GW and I was put on pre-interview hold...so I feel your pain!!
Good luck man! Our school lists look pretty similar, wonder if we'll cross paths sometime haha. Working at Children's Natl Med Center should at least give you some leverage, they were in the top 10 pediatrics hospital in the US last year. This is such a crazy process...
ACCEPTED!!!!!!!😱😍
Interviewed 11/21
Woo hoo! Nice job!ACCEPTED!!!!!!!😱😍
Interviewed 11/21
ahhh congrats trojan!ACCEPTED!!!!!!!😱😍
Interviewed 11/21
I've been complete since July and am still on hold.....this sucks. 🙁
By this time last year they had rejected me...maybe there's hope this time around? Has anybody had any luck in getting them to accept update letters?
how do you withdraw? via email or is there a link? These guys still have me on pre-interview hold and I was complete in September. Withdrawing.
For those of you feeling despondent about no interviews, I just got an interview invite today for 2/5. They recived my application 1/5.
No I'm not joking, I'm one of those idiots that ends up doing everything at the last minute. So they are still reviewing and inviting. I think they interview till April?
ahhh congrats trojan!😍
did they send you an e-mail or did you check your status page?
Also, how long before a decision is made are people receiving the requests for information pertaining to post-graduation (from UG) activities?
Thank you.
I'm from California. I'd rather not go into specifics in case Administrators actually read this but I have an awesome MCAT and pretty good GPA from a nationally known university in California.
I hope I'm a good candidate even though the rest of my app might not be so hot but I'm also worried GWU might glance at the scores and think I'm one of those people who think they're 'overqualified' and using GW as a backup. My biggest hope is that I got the interview right away because my enthusiasm and interest in going to GWU showed through in the essay question. GWU's my first choice, I love the medical school.
If they read my app, it means they read late submitters. It also means that they shouldn't have many apps left to review, so pre-interview holds should be getting more invites soon. So procrastinators like me and people waiting for invites shouldn't worry so much that they've been rejected already.
I only said something because I think i was developing an ulcer this week now that I'm done applying and started reading this board, which has alot of negativity. For example, posts claiming people shouldn't bother applying to medical school after October at the latest, July if they don't want to interview for waitlists, and other disingenous pied-piper attempts. (Yes I know it can hurt your chances due to rolling admissions, especially for some schools that fill out their classes quickly. I also know this isn't the only interview invite I got today. And why the hell would people withdraw because GW kept you on hold until now unless they didn't want to go to the school in the first place.)
Bump.
I received the information request a little over three weeks before I was accepted.

Thank you, BambiMD. I am just about 3-4 weeks away from decision time, as well. I will kepp an eye out.
Good point. I applied later last cycle and did not have this type of response.your argument is only sound for ppl with very high #s like yourself. schools leave interview spots open for later in the year for those late applicants with crazy scores. if you had average #s, you want not be receiving all these invites. you have high #s, though, so good luck!
ThanksNo problem. Good luck!
I never received any kind of info. request let alone correspondance after my interview mbe36 and I was accepted. So don't read too much into it if you haven't received one. However, I did submit a letter of interest stating why I liked the school and why I would be a good fit. I would recommend writing a letter if you haven't already done so
Thank you for the info and congrats, TrojanMD!
I interviewed on Dec 11th and hope to join you.![]()
Haha at you are not alone.I interviewed on Dec 18th, and I also hope to join the party.
I had a good feeling after my physician interview, so hopefully I'll find out soon enough. If people who interviewed on 11/21 just found out, that means it's going to be approximately 8 weeks before I find out.
It's been barely four weeks for me, and I'm itching to find out if I got in.
They asked for more info about my post-grad activities so I'm still waiting for a decision... but hopefully soon! Congrats again I know you really liked GW.Thanks!! Did you not hear back yet????
