Does GWU reject anyone at all post interview? or are you either alt-listed or accepted?

well, if i'm remembering correctly, they said at the interview that in 6-8 weeks we'd either be accepted, alt-listed, or rejected. i think i remember this because the tour guide said something like she didin't want to mention the "R-word" or whatnot. i don't know though. it was so long ago. 😕 does anyone else remember?

Thanks for the info, quirks. I suggest going into detail about specific progress within your research. Maybe also mention the anticipation of any papers or presentations in the near future.

You could always get a new volunteer position on the weekends and tack that on. Good luck!!!

Yeah, I'll do that. I should be published eventually (no idea when the paper will be submitted), so I guess that counts for something. The idea of starting to volunteer right now just to have something to tell them leaves a bad taste in my mouth but I guess you do what you gotta do. I'll see if there's something I actually want to do.

I don't remember exactly, but I do remember that they said that we should hear from them in 6 to 8 weeks, so that probably has to include rejections.

Actually, I got my alternate list notification via postal mail (in December). I believe acceptances are e-mail followed by postal mail. If you're asking how do they notify you of an acceptance if you've already been put on the alternate list, all I know is that the office told me they really won't pull from the alternate list until May.

I have a feeling that they put lots of ppl on the waitlists(both pre and post interviews). A school like GWU that has a high tuition costs and lower tier ranking(in addition to the its current accreditation problems), will probably have lots of movement on their waitlists as ppl decided to go elsewhere.

GW is actually a really good school with a great national reputation. It's just not a school known for its research and yeah the probation is a bummer, but it's not for something that's substantial and should be cleared soon according to my conversation with the dean.

Yes. I got an invite on 1/8 after being on hold since November, as did a bunch of other people. Look further back in the thread for the relevant posts.

I am very pleased and feel very blessed to write that as of 2:45PM today, I was accepted to the GW Class of 2013!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I interviewed on Tuesday, December 2 and received an email on the afternoon of Thursday, February 5. This is not only the culmination of my hard work but also an accomplishment reflecting the amazing network of friends and family that have shown me constant love and support throughout the years. I am only here because of them. Best of luck to everyone applying this cycle!

Yes, I would call this week. I am one to always try and not step on toes, but this is 5 weeks past the expected date.

Merlinwall had a similar experience and he called. He then received an apology e-mail---and then an acceptance. Now, I do not think calling will get you an acceptance, but just call to make sure something did not happen to your application.

Before you call make sure you have done your job. Check your status page, make sure you emailed them a photo, check your email/spam to make sure they have not requested more info from you that is necessary for processing (ie new grades, activities report if you graduated, proof of citizenship)

When you call just be polite. Say you realize how busy they are but you are 5 weeks past the mark. Ask if there is anything you can do on your end. GOOD LUCK

I would conservatively give it 3-4 weeks. There was a lot of lag due to the holiday season and inauguration. I interviewed on 12/11 and have yet to hear. Good luck!

Thanks Mbe for the advice/support, you're awesome =). I'll definitely give them a call tomorrow after checking the status page. It seems like GW sends out post-interview emails/status-changes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hopefully they won't be annoyed that i'm calling, eeek!

I just checked my status and it now says this:

I didn't get an email like all the other acceptances I've seen on here and I'm so afraid that's a rejection. But I feel like if they were gonna reject me they wouldn't waste postage?

Same message. Interviewed Dec. 9th. Weird thing is, when I called on Friday, the guy confirmed my address, so I figured it was a rejection. When I called on Monday, the girl said that I should get an email by the end of the week. This status message perplexes me.

I received a waitlist letter via postal mail with no accompanying e-mail (and had my status changed on the website), so don't assume rejection if you do not receive an e-mail. However, it most certainly means non-acceptance.

When I spoke to someone over the phone, they said there are people who get rejected post-interview, but most of those that do not get accepted are waitlisted. If there are SDNers who did get rejected post-interview, maybe they just don't want it to be known...?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but based on my previous application to GWU, I think it is a rejection. At least you got Upstate, which in my opinion is a better deal for NY residents than GWU.

Actually, when my status changed to that pre-interview, I received an interview invite about a week later.
