Oh, wow. I didnt look at it like that. This is the first interview they are going with me to, and they are going because its in DC and they would have stuff to do there too. They just wanted to see the school as well.
But, yeah, I totally get why that would not be appropriate there. Good thing I asked!!!! instead of showing up with mommie and daddiee!! HA
 
I withdrew from the waitlist yesterday.

has anyone, who interviewed during the first week of January, heard anything? GW has been awfully quite during the last couple of weeks about post-interview decisions?

Yeah, I did and I still have the "Thanks for interviewing" message. I have a feeling that it's going to be at least 8 weeks for us.

How long have you had the thanks for interviewing message? I'm trying to figure out their time frams.... I've had it for 2 weeks now and I interviewed during the last week of January.
 
Its supposed to snow 6-9 inches in DC tom. WHAAT?
 
I'm sitting in my apartment in D.C. enjoying the aftermath... all those with interviews in the next while, lets get there early and make some snow creations 🙂
 
Call the school just to make sure interviews are not cancelled.

There is an option on the phone menu where you can inquire about bad weather. I would do this just to be safe. Good luck.
 
I think they are good to go for this week, Im here.. And its beautiful! LOVE DC!
 
So finally after ~12 weeks of waiting (interviewed: 12/11), I found out today that I am an alternate. 🙁

It doesn't seem like they are giving out too many acceptances anymore. I was kind of surprised because my interview went really well. My interviewer literally said " I think you are wonderful... you should get in."

Apparantly his opinion didn't count too much. And they took long enough to give me sub-par news, so I'm frustrated.

Blondie, my interviewer said something along the lines of that also... They said: "I'm sure you'll get in."

then, weeks later, i became an alternate...

do you suppose they are waiting til may 15ht to accept more students?
 
This is unrelated to GW, but one thing I learned in this process is to not put too much weight on what your interviewer says. As applicants, we never know how much our interviewer's voice carries in the admissions committee. Simply put, what goes on behind closed doors is beyond us. I'll give you a story:

Interviewed at SUNY Downstate with a distinguished Ophthalmologist. He said he loves me, thought I was great a applicant with an amazing background. He proceeded to introduce me as a future Downstate med student to all his colleagues and office staffs. At this point, I was feeling high like a kite. To make things more juicy, the Ophthalmologist was holding a free vision screening booth in the medical school's main lobby and invited me to come along with him. I listened to him speak, talked to his residents, underwent a free vision exams, talked to adcom members who were at the event, and spoke casually to long time patrons of the the medical school All of them had high hopes for me....This was by far my best interview. END RESULT: Waitlisted. Go figure. Moral of the story is: just wish for the best, and be ready for the worse. Fortunately, I got accepted to schools I like more than Downstate, but things could've been much worse. GL all!

Hey guys,

So in neurotically reviewing this thread, it looks like there haven't been any interviews given out (at least, that anyone has posted) since 2/20 . . . which was a Friday, and previously it seemed like every week there were interviews given out on Wednesdays (including that Wed., the 18th). I don't want to give up hope, but this doesn't seem like a good sign to me. Anyone think GW is done giving out interviews? Anyone get one more recently than 2/20? Thanks!
 
I called their office and interview slots are still open, so there is still hope for an invite!
 
soo i will be withdrawing my application as soon as i receive my official acceptance from another school in the mail. a decision hasn't been made on my application yet but hopefully one of you guys will get accepted/interviewed/bumped up on the alternate list
 
For people who have gotten an interview after sending an LOI, can I ask who I should send a letter to and what format (email, written ...)? Thanks!
 
Rejected pre-interview after having the "hold" message forever via email.
 
Just got the pre-interview rejection email. I had been held for "re-review at a later date"

Your tag, i also didnt get, even though i love that book, until I saw D'angelo explaining it on Season 2 of The Wire, sad that i had to have my favourite book explained to me by a fictional drug dealer ....

OK, now you guys have made my heart really start to race. :scared: I'm on hold and didn't get the rejection e-mail (even checked the spam box). Dare I hope against all hope for an invite? My status page hasn't changed(although, I guess that doesn't really mean anything). Ack! It's times like these when I wish that I hadn't checked SDN. 😱:scared::xf:

rowerontheriver - are you in the same boat as me? (boat, haha . . . I wasn't even trying to be punny!)

I didn't receive the rejection e-mail today either (status: "re-reviewed at a later date"), I'll be expecting mine tomorrow :laugh:

Guess you're more the "glass is half-empty" type, huh? :laugh: However, it's probably better to expect the worst and then be pleasantly surprised when good things happen than to get your hopes up and have them dashed . . . like me. 🙄 Oh well, yay for unfounded optimism! :laugh:

Maybe they decided our applications were so impressive they didn't even need to interview us... I'll be expecting my acceptance letter any day in the mail. 😛

In case anyone is intersted, for the most recent class who took Step 1 (Class of 2010), the pass rate was 96%. Very impressive. The national board pass rate I believe is 92-93%.

if you haven't noticed the trend. every school says they are above the national average
 
So I just got the infamous Correspondence concerning the status of your application has been sent to you via postal mail to your preferred mailing address on file with AMCAS (no accompanying email yet though).... I know most of you a said this meant wait list for you...Did anyone who got this status change get an acceptance?

I'm really scared...I wanted that acceptance soooo bad!!
 
I'm rejected off the pre-interview hold as well, after 5 months of waiting for an invite
 
when did you guys interview? i interviewed on 2/11..... guess i still have at least a few weeks...

Sounds like people got an e-mail. It does not sound like status pages were updated, though.

I didn't get an e-mail, so I'm crossing my fingers extremely tightly for an interview invite.:xf: I really hope they're not just doing their rejections in waves. :scared: That would be SUCH a letdown.

I interviewed 01/29 and my status changed a few times since then...so if you check your status it should give you some idea of your application progress.
