Oh, wow. I didnt look at it like that. This is the first interview they are going with me to, and they are going because its in DC and they would have stuff to do there too. They just wanted to see the school as well.
But, yeah, I totally get why that would not be appropriate there. Good thing I asked!!!! instead of showing up with mommie and daddiee!! HA

Yeah, I did and I still have the "Thanks for interviewing" message. I have a feeling that it's going to be at least 8 weeks for us.

Call the school just to make sure interviews are not cancelled.

There is an option on the phone menu where you can inquire about bad weather. I would do this just to be safe. Good luck.

So finally after ~12 weeks of waiting (interviewed: 12/11), I found out today that I am an alternate. 🙁

It doesn't seem like they are giving out too many acceptances anymore. I was kind of surprised because my interview went really well. My interviewer literally said " I think you are wonderful... you should get in."

Apparantly his opinion didn't count too much. And they took long enough to give me sub-par news, so I'm frustrated.

Blondie, my interviewer said something along the lines of that also... They said: "I'm sure you'll get in."

This is unrelated to GW, but one thing I learned in this process is to not put too much weight on what your interviewer says. As applicants, we never know how much our interviewer's voice carries in the admissions committee. Simply put, what goes on behind closed doors is beyond us. I'll give you a story:

Interviewed at SUNY Downstate with a distinguished Ophthalmologist. He said he loves me, thought I was great a applicant with an amazing background. He proceeded to introduce me as a future Downstate med student to all his colleagues and office staffs. At this point, I was feeling high like a kite. To make things more juicy, the Ophthalmologist was holding a free vision screening booth in the medical school's main lobby and invited me to come along with him. I listened to him speak, talked to his residents, underwent a free vision exams, talked to adcom members who were at the event, and spoke casually to long time patrons of the the medical school All of them had high hopes for me....This was by far my best interview. END RESULT: Waitlisted. Go figure. Moral of the story is: just wish for the best, and be ready for the worse. Fortunately, I got accepted to schools I like more than Downstate, but things could've been much worse. GL all!

So in neurotically reviewing this thread, it looks like there haven't been any interviews given out (at least, that anyone has posted) since 2/20 . . . which was a Friday, and previously it seemed like every week there were interviews given out on Wednesdays (including that Wed., the 18th). I don't want to give up hope, but this doesn't seem like a good sign to me. Anyone think GW is done giving out interviews? Anyone get one more recently than 2/20? Thanks!

Guess you're more the "glass is half-empty" type, huh? However, it's probably better to expect the worst and then be pleasantly surprised when good things happen than to get your hopes up and have them dashed . . . like me. 🙄 Oh well, yay for unfounded optimism!

In case anyone is intersted, for the most recent class who took Step 1 (Class of 2010), the pass rate was 96%. Very impressive. The national board pass rate I believe is 92-93%.

So I just got the infamous Correspondence concerning the status of your application has been sent to you via postal mail to your preferred mailing address on file with AMCAS (no accompanying email yet though).... I know most of you a said this meant wait list for you...Did anyone who got this status change get an acceptance?

I'm really scared...I wanted that acceptance soooo bad!!

Sounds like people got an e-mail. It does not sound like status pages were updated, though.

I didn't get an e-mail, so I'm crossing my fingers extremely tightly for an interview invite. I really hope they're not just doing their rejections in waves. That would be SUCH a letdown.

I interviewed 01/29 and my status changed a few times since then...so if you check your status it should give you some idea of your application progress.
