Random question:

Is there a 24 Hour Fitness nearby (10-15 miles) MCW? Contemplating getting a 2 year membership for cheap...

The brand? No. I'm a lifetime member and I haven't been able to use 24 Hour Fitness for a few years, except when I would go home.

There are 24 hour gyms in the area apparently, but I figure, since I'm a member of a gym, I'm not going to pay another membership fee. :D

got my acceptance here last friday....my first acceptance!!! THRILLED about it!

Ahh. If it could be perpetually summer, I'd be happy. I have no problem with driving to the mountains to go snowboarding. That's normal.

This must be your holiday dream come true... December 27th and it is 50??

So glad you asked because I love this picture. It describes me.

I'm also partly the sane one.

btw... congrats to all you guys with acceptances. Good luck to you guys on the waitlist (I was there 4 years ago, or so).

So ashers, do you prefer baked chicken breasts or t-bone steaks? :)

I guessed correctly! I should become a psychiatrist.

In case any "small poolers" are curious, I contacted MCW and they said that they hadn't yet reached my completion date (Aug 25) to consider me for an interview (they work chronologically based on completion date). They also included the line "if and when we reach your application". Moral of the story= apply early and don't go to a school that sends your LORs out late =)

Small pooled as well, complete on August 20th. I talked to Mr. Istwan a few times and he said they still have not reached my completion date. Hoping for an interview invite soon!

That sounds promising. I was complete about a week before you.

They r still in august small poolers???!!!...when i called in december, thats what he said....man....they should start september....:(

oops...forgot to post my standard qn....any1 knows when the next round of invites r going out?

Does anybody know approximately how many interviews MCW gives out? I know they give out interviews through the end of March and will continue to send out invites during the next month...

I read somewhere that they interview about 600 for a class of 200. That info was a few years old, so I don't know if it has changed.

Just looked on the website- for class entering in 2007, 740 interviews.

How many people are at each interview day??? I thought someone said there were two days/month...

Was complete sometime in mid-August, small-pooled 9/3. Still waiting for the interview invite!:xf::xf::xf:

I believe it's like 60 people per interview day, approximately

Wow- that's the biggest group I've seen in an interview yet... how does the interview work... is it the same 4 groups of people interviewing like 15 each? Yikes!

nah they have way more than 4 interviewers, I don't know the exact #

The group of ~60 is split in two. So at any given moment only one of the groups is being interviewed. Typically there are 2 seperate interviews one with a faculty the other with a student.
SO there has to be ~ 60 interviewers. I personally think the school invests a lot into their future class, and it shows.

This makes me so sad... Not that you might get an interview soon, of course, best of luck! But my LORs weren't sent until October, and I love MCW. Does anyone know if they welcome letters of interest? Does "any further review of your application will only occur if you are interviewed" mean that it would be pointless to send one?

probably. but if you do get an interview they would already have an LOI on file.

I'm interviewing there on January 9th. Anyone else going to be there?

just got an invite for 2/6 or 2/20 for alternate list spots, small pooled on 9/3

So did I...is this worth going to? What are the chances of getting accepted off of the alternate list?

I have one acceptance at Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, GA and am on hold at Medical College of Georgia. Interviewing at NYMC on February 3rd.

Any input?

the general rule is to go to every interview until you have an acceptance in hand

I also got an invite! However, I will decline it and withdraw my application. Good luck everyone!

I'm in the same situation, one acceptance in hand already. Don't know if its worth it to interview for a waitlist spot, especially flying out from the west coast. Are there a lot of people pulled from the list?

I also received an invite today for Feb 6th or 20th. I've tentatively scheduled it for the 6th, but am unsure if it's worth missing work for a shot at the alternate list (no acceptances yet, but multiple upcoming interviews/decisions). Does anyone know how these interview dates have worked in the past? I seem to remember hearing from someone that they did the same thing last year.

I heard somewhere that for the past 2 years, MCW has had little to no waitlist movement.

Yea I think either ashers or code brown said this a few pages back

Interview invite today--originally small pooled on 9/3. I'm going to decline it; hopefully it'll free up another spot (even if it is just for the alternate list :().

heh, looks like I must of been in the upper third of the 9/3 small pool. I was complete 8/4, interviewed 12/19

Offered an interview after being put into a smaller pool and being complete since August. Waitlist only. I declined.

Anyone going to actually take the interview offer?

Sure am. But if put on the waitlist, I would consider withdrawing because I already have one acceptance.

You are interviewing for a waitlist spot, so it's either waitlist or rejection, you might as well save your money and let someone else have your spot if you are gonna withdraw anyways

i think his interview is on 1/9, not the one that was recently given out...

so when ppl get their interviews, they do mention its for a waitlist spot rite? Did every1 who got an invite today have that mentioned?...because then that would mean they r interviewing for waitlist spots alone....if not then its based on how they ranked u....could make a difference...so did every1 who received an invite today get it for a waitlist spot??

sorry meant to say I interviewed on 12/12, accepted 12/19

Haha I love this. I received an interview for the waitlist at MCW, and MCW states "they usually don't pull from the waitlist".

I was small pooled on 9/28

looks like they will contact me with an invitation to the waitlist interview soon

Does anyone know how many seats have been offered for this fall? I'm interviewing on Friday and wondering what kind of shot I have for a seat? Thanks!

My interview is on 1/9, and my email specifically says "interview for a place int the entering class of 2009" not interview for a spot on the waitlist. Also, I called the school and asked about moving the date, and they said that I shouldn't because there are open spots to interview for now, and they could not guarantee I would get a date soon enough to compete for a spot.

Edit: Also, I should clarify my earlier statement. I would stay on the waitlist as long as I felt the interview had enough of an impression on me. I said I would consider withdrawing, not that I definitely would.
