small pooled 9/29 and havent heard anything from them yet....the wait is killing me....any1 else in this situation?

Small-pooled 9/3 and still nada.

if there are a vast majority of us still small pooled....then why do we have posts like the jan. interviewing ppl are for waitlist spots?....am i getting a bit annoying?...cant help...i hate waiting like every1 else...😛
 
I think small pool on 9/3 only helps if you also have a strong app. That's why even though I was small pooled 9/3, lots of people small pooled after me actually got interview invite way before I did. So being early can only help you so much....
 
I called last week to ask about my file and they said its still early and they have a lot of interviews to hand out still. Not how true this is but there is a bit of hope.
 
I just got small-pooled today, 12/8. I wasn't complete until 11/17. I see here that the MCW seems to put great emphasis on completion date. Should I even expect to receive an interview, or should I just cross them off and move on?

Not to be a downer, but from what the director of admissions told me regarding their volume applications and completion dates, I wouldnt hold your breath on MCW unless you have stellar stats. IMHO.
 
So I'm seeing some got small-pooled today, but has anybody gotten interview invites? I heard from Michael Istwan that they were going to be handing out invites early this week...

Sorry if this has been gone over 1,000,000 times before, but has anyone had success with LOIs and getting off the small-pool?

im wondering if maybe small-pool is a way of saying - we potentially want to interview you if you have strong interest, but dont want to waste a spot on you if you're not even going to take the time to send an LOI ...

I was also wondering if sending an LOI is a good idea. I am really interested in MCW and would love the chance to interview there.
 
can we send LOI as an attachment to an email or should we post to them? Also, didnt the small pool email say that our files will not be reviewed again until we r interviewd? so do u think there's any point in sending them LOI?

That is why I was unsure about it. I don't even know if they will look at it since our files are technically closed.
 
Ok peeps... we have interviews coming up this friday the 12th... after that, we will be sending out more invites... for those of you applying, yes, our numbers have in-fact gone up this year... Several reasons for that...

That said, at this point in the game, an LOI won't help you that much. What you need to do is to send a letter of commitment to Mike Istwan. Send him an email (call the school and ask for his email or google it), and tell him that MCW is your top choice. This will help, an LOI won't. Just being straight up on this aspect.

That said, good luck this Friday for some of you.

when u mean numbers...do u mean the stats for getting an interview? as in a GPA/MCAT cut off?
what about ppl small pooled early aug/sept.....do we still have a chnace?
 
If I may also interject... Everyone be warned that ALL correspondence with MCW is put into your file. Ms. Istwan notes that any thank you letters post-interview will be added to your file, but it does not stop there. Anything you send them (email included) will be considered as a representation of yourself. I hope that helps some.

What I am trying to say is that though a LOI may not help you, it can certainly hurt you if you are not very meticulous and well thought out. I don't mean to scare anyone, but I speak from experience.

I just received an interview invitation! Signed up for Jan. 9 - I never expected this at all, completely shocked, but a happy shock!

Anyways, for those interested I am a re-applicant, in-state. I was small pooled Sept. 3rd. <30 on MCAT, 3.5 sGPA, 3.7 cGPA.

Does anyone know if MCW's class is close to full? Would you think this is an interview for an actual seat in the class or a spot on the waitlist? Would they tell you? Thanks.

I got my interview invite this morning too! Yeah!!!!! This comes at the best time when I was depressed from finding out I had been waitlisted at a school where I interviewed last nite/a rejection from another school!!! My spirits are once more lifted!!

I am OOS, completed file sept 25th, small pooled october 12th, interview invite today for the 9th!!

Oh medgrad I hope to meet you!!

Goodluck to everyone else no matter the stage you are in!!

Congrats to everyone getting invites today!!!

Last year, the second of the interview days in feb. was the last day they could straight up accept anyone. They only had about 15 spots though.

I'm pretty sure the Jan. 9th interview is still for a spot in the class. Can't say anything definitive, but they probably still have enough spots to straight out accept everyone at the interviews should they wish to. I think Mike will mention something about that.

I was a re-app instater and I got accepted this year...so I am sending all my karma your way medgrad! GL to all the new interviewees and maybe see you guys next aug

It's basically the same thing as Madison's...they had a few more students there the time I went, tho. But if I remember correctly, you hear a bunch of the same info on your interview day. Since I'm coming in from Madison, I most likely won't be going to it (assuming much hasn't changed since last year).

I signed up for 1/23. Anybody else?
 
Are there any advantages of signing up for Jan. 9 vs. Jan 23 besides getting it done earlier? Will you hear back sooner or will those decisions both be made on the same day?

If MCW is one of your top choices, I would interview as early as you can.

Decisions will all be mailed out 1 week after your interview day, and where you live determines when you actually receive the letter.

Nice so we'll find out by christmas if we get accepted/rejected/waitlisted if we interview this Friday? That would be THE best christmas gift ever! To possibly receive the first acceptance 🙂

The Thursday following your interview is the day that the adcom meets to determine the result of the previous Friday's interviews. They send a letter out one week after your interview, so it should only take about 10 days or so (depending on geographic location) to hear your fate...

They have also been toying with email notifications that also go out one week after your interview, but I don't know if that is standard procedure yet.

I just scheduled an interview for 1/23. Someone mentioned that the 1/9 interviews are for straight up acceptances...does the same hold for 1/23, or should I consider rescheduling? Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Generally, the last interview dates are for waitlist only. Last year, I think those started the first week of February (?), but I believe it's not uncommon to start the last week or two in January. I guess it just depends on how many they've accepted up to that point and how many spots they have left.
 
tbucky is correct...sooner the better for interview dates. i imagine that by late jan, the class is getting pretty full.

That was me that mentioned that. Let me say straight out that I don't know anything about this year. My statement was going off of last years course of action.

Last year, the interviews for a waitlist spot actually started in the beginning of March. Interview invites sent out for February interviews mentioned that the interviews were for the only few remaining spots in the class and for the waitlist.

Regarding waitlist only interviews, it always depends on how the previous interview day goes and how many MCW decides to accept out of that bunch. Obviously, if they take alot, that's less spots for the next group of interviewees, and so therefore interviewing for the waitlist starts earlier.
