This one is going to be my last secondary to complete. I'm holding it off since its not rolling... Gah... Can't wait to finish!!

Just to screw with YOU guys, I'll tell you:

My buddy got an interview invite today.
 
I just found out I missed an email from them about not having my letters. Strangely, I submitted them via VE, so they should have access. Nor could I find said email in my inbox or spam folder....

I hate all the details you have to pay attention to.

I copied from Notepad and manually replaced the apostrophes, and it worked fine. Thankfully I didn't have too many!
 
yeah i just called and they said that status means a decision has not yet been reached and that we'd know on March 3. I'm still confused though because that wouldn't leave much time for interviews. Like Chad said, it must be a pre-interview hold or something.
 
Does any one know when the first invitations to interview go out?
 
haha i have no clue. i'd recommend calling though...the person who answered my call was helpful and didn't seem at all annoyed.

Yeah. I just wanted to see if my letters had been received and maybe just not processed yet, since its been a while. Person refused to help... I suppose I'll try again some other day.
 
They were huge snobs when I called!!!!

It took FOREVER for me to show up as complete so I finally e-mailed them to ask what was up and they said my letters didn't fill their requirement, so I e-mailed back to ask why not. It took them a day or so to reply so in the meantime I sent in another letter via interfolio who was a prof, just in case one of my prof LORs hadn't specified they were a prof (since I had done research with both as well). When NYU finally got back to me, they said: we got the LOR from the one prof, now we just need two more LORs. I was like WHAT THE HECK? you now have 4 letters in my file!! whaddya mean you need 2 more???

and on it went like this for a couple of days until it turned out THEY had effed up and my app got delayed who knows how long because of it. argh.
As soon as they answered the phone it was like they thought I was an idiot because obviously THEY couldn't possibly made a mistake so I must be the idiot.

So there's my NYU rant. and now my status just sits there perpetually under review. ho hum.
 
So based on what I've read from previous pages, there is no way to preview the app prior to submitting? ARGHh..

I guess I will have to retype everything in the text box
 
Can someone elaborate on what they did for a prereq that had 2 lectures and 2 labs? The form only allows you to list 3.

Gen Chem for me was 2 lectures, 2 labs. I just put the first lab and the two lectures in the three spots. I figured that they could refer to my course listing on AMCAS to figure out that Chem 2 also had a separate lab (chem 2 lab).

As for your first question about previewing, I wrote my essays in Microsoft word and just copied and pasted. Some people said they had problems, but it didn't mess up anything in my essays. Hope this helps! Good luck:luck:

Just wanted to elaborate on this...

I called this morning to see what they think and just like what bluesnowbunny said, you can leave out that extra lab. The really important thing is to show that your credits add up to the required 6 credits in each requirement. They will refer to your transcript as well..
 
Re: LOR drama....

So I sent a packet of two letters from interfolio (one science, one non-science) - it's electronic so it only took about 3 days for them to send me an e-mail...but they claimed they were missing a science letter. So I had the same thought, did they receive both, but my science prof forgot to mention she was a science prof, or did they just lose one half of the submission??

Anyway I e-mailed them, got no response, but a few days after that they sent me a 'complete' e-mail. So I have no idea what happened there.

Just wanted to add my NYU-is-making-me-lose-sleep rant for the week. 👍
 
Does anyone know what kind of lecture schedule NYU has? There's a link on their website but i keep getting an error.
 
i think the final decision pending means we got rejected. I had a friend who got rejected last year and he said that his status was pending the whole time before he got a rejection

Seems like this has gone back and forth for a while now. Hopefully we get some closure (ie. invites to interview) this next week.
 
Hey Guys,

So I just called the admissions office and asked about the "Final Decision Pending" status. The lady on the phone told me that it DOES NOT mean you were rejected. It means your application was sent to the admissions committee for evaluation. If a decision is made to offer you an interview, you should hear back from NYU within (and I quote) "a couple weeks to a month" after first seeing the "final decision pending" status. Otherwise, you can assume a rejection and will be notified on March 3rd.

my application doesn't say final decision pending. it says "application complete- under review." does that mean i'm rejected? 🙁 :'(

mine said "application complete - under review" until I got the good news today...not sure if the status they list means all that much though

"under review." i received an invite today and i think the last time i checked my status was friday or saturday (can we say neurotic?? 😛)

the site wont accept my credit card! is anyone else experiencing this problem?? its so weird. im trying to pay them but i cant hehe

anyway, i called help desk and they said theyll get back to me. we'll see if that really happens. it would be great if it did, though...

Got the Final Decision Pending.... I guess I'll find out what it means either in March or a few weeks.
 
I called this morning to ask if my app was complete--LOR had posted to virtual eval on 9.10.

The woman answering the phone was helpful: she looked at my file and said that they had gotten my letters but since they "were in the thick of things" they hadn't updated the profile that I can access.

She changed my profile and sent me an email before I was off the phone.
 
Hmm...maybe they are just really busy this year. No invites since the initial batch on 9/15 (or maybe just on SDN)

Did you ever resolve this problem? It's not accepting my cards either. 🙁 I'm late to work for no good reason now!
 
So, I just got the "final decision pending" status as well! I was complete on 8/11
 
please send me an interview invite NYU!!!! definitely one of my three choices!!!
are there any current nyu som students who can give us some insights about the program?
i'm curious about what the current student think about the 3rd and 4th years as well as research opportunities!

I remember for some schools, you had to put down the EXACT home address as the credit card company has it, otherwise it wouldn't go through.
