Hey guys, I have a problem. I have been complete since september 11th and people who have been complete after me have heard, I am still application complete - under review.

I accidentally checked off that I previously applied to NYU, but I didn't! i sent two emails, the first one got no response, so I sent it again, but this time with a "receipt upon reading" attacked to it.

I am just speculating, do you think re-applicants are thrown in the back of the line or disadvantaged? Should I call them and tell them what's going on? because the first time I did they said to e-mail them, but apparently no one is reading them.

hey guys my status said final decision pending too... and I got an invite today =) have faith! don't rush to conclusions. SDN makes us neurotic just be patient.

eek!! 😱 call them?

I will first thing Monday now, but do you guys think that re-applicants are disadvantaged in the first place? I was complete september 12 and I am still "under review" so they haven't gotten to me yet, but I will get on it asap. BAHHH!!!

from what i understand, being a reapplicant means that you must be a bit more stellar than others. that you need to somehow show that you have improved your application and whatnot... so a little bit they maybe are?

It may have just confused them...because the first thing they probably do when they see that box checked is go search for your previous file. If you e-mailed them, I'd be confident that the message did get around to the appropriate people eventually, but it wouldn't hurt to call.

To those that had interviews here, how long did the interview day last? They didn't email a schedule so I'm having a hard time planning out my day.

when i scheduled mine they said it would be about 4 hrs total

That sounds encouraging!

It's about 4 hours. The interview itself is 30 minutes. Pretty quick and easy day.

Thanks QTLyss, I'll keep my hopes up. I agree that SDN make us neurotic...but I think blindly waiting for a decision is just as nerve-wracking.

My interview lasted an hour (I think it was only supposed to last 30 min, but I guess we just ended up talking about a lot of different stuff). I just thought I'd throw that out there for people who might be scheduling flights home. You wouldn't want to miss your flight because your interview went long.

I just scheduled my interview for Nov 17th, anyone else going that day? Also, with so many days to choose from for interviews, how many other interviewees are taking the tour and stuff on the same day? It seems like there wouldn't be too many applicants that happen to be there on the same day...

I just got an interview invite after being complete for 2+ months, so there is still hope! To all those who have interviewed at NYC schools already, can you email other schools in the area saying "I will be in town for another interview, will you consider me for an interview at your school on the same day?" Thanks for the help! 🙂

yes, not all will respond though.

Did you ever get the "decision pending" status?

I got the invite today. I'm Canadian so I'm wondering if that might be the reason for the lateness. So all of your Internationals, have hope!

I'm going to try to book it for this long weekend during November 10th (Remembrance Day here in Canada)... anyone know if they're all booked up for this date?

Any suggestions or comments for the interview itself?

I would LOVE to go to this school!

congrats, zetandu. When were you complete?

I am from Canada too and I interviewed on October 14. It was very relaxed. I basically just chatted with the interviewer for close to an hour. Much more plesant than the MMI style interviews at most schools here in Canada. Good luck!

any interview feedback/questions asked at NYU? you can PM me if you want. There's only 3 entries on the feedback page for this season 🙁

That's excellent news, I do better with relaxed interviews; don't get me started with MMIs.

I was complete mid September - its been a while.

Good luck to all!

I second the interview feedback comment. Any tips for those of us interviewing? You can PM or leave it on interview feedback anonymously if you prefer anonymity.

MMI is a brutal interview format adopted by nearly all Canadian Medical Schools - consisting of 8-10 stations where you just talk and present your ideas on topics you received moments before... no dialogue between you and the judicator. Some Schools actually have essay stations - 2 essays per hour MCAT style.

Yeah... its getting harder and harder for us Canadians

LOL, it's like speed-dating!

What's everyones status post interview?....mine is "interview Scheduled". 🙂

My Post-interview status says

Final Decision Pending - All final decisions will be sent on March 3rd .

That's such a long time to wait!

same here

They said some might find out in late January, so maybeee...

i have a friend who goes there now and she got her acceptance letter before christmas last yr. not sure about this yr though.

oh sweet. did they say they were changing it this year?

when i was there they said they maybe will send out a few before the holidays in december bc last year when they waiting til march for everyone, the students were not happy

yeah that's what I heard too - maybe a few December acceptances but maybe not. It kind of sounded like they hadn't decided what they were going to do.

So has there been any agreement as to what the status page says for those offered an interview? Were there people with both "Final decision pending" AND "Under Review" offered interviews?

I was complete 7/18 😱 and my page still says App Complete Under Review

I really just want to visit New York 🙄

Has anyone got the USNEWS stats for NYU? Int/Acc/Wait/ etc?

From 2007: 7573 applied, 960 interviewed, 435 were accepted, 160 enrolled.
wow.. you have almost 50% chance of acceptance after interview!!!! thats awesome!

They tried to explain this at the interview...they claim that that because they switched to non-rolling (first time last year i think) most people already decided on going to some other school. Because of this the ended up taking lots and lots of people from the wait list. This year they want to lower this number by starting to accept earlier but we'll see how that goes..I doubt it will go much lower than 50% though.

When I scheduled my interview, I was told that the day would be over around 1:30. I'm trying to schedule my flight to NYC now, and the times are just not working out for me. There is a 3:10 flight out of Laguardia the day of my interview that would be perfect, but it would seriously be cutting it close. For those who have already interviewed, how accurate is that 1:30 ending time, and do you think it would be possible for me to duck out early?

Knowing that you have to catch a flight in an hour or so may make you nervous during the interview. I wouldnt recommend it!

For those who have already interviewed, what is emphasized at NYU the most i.e. research, community service, or global healthcare etc.? How do you think it is different than other NYC schools like columbia, downstate, and MS?

it would depend on when your actual interview is carlin. if your interview is in the morning, then ducking out early would be nooo problem i think.🙂 but maybe a 5pm flight would be better...

Just wanted to give some hope to those waiting for interviews:

Complete Email: 9/3
Interview Invite Email: 11/12 🙂
Interview Dates Offered: 12/1 through 12/19 (M-F)
Status Page: Application Complete - Under Review (from 9/3 until now)

So it looks like they have plenty of interview slots still open even though it took over two months to hear back from them.

congrats blurry.
I got the invite today as well. Same timeline. I am excited about NYU.
