i was a late october interview, and my last name is in the last half of the alphabet..honestly, i wouldn't worry too much.. i remember them saying that most of the offers are going out in march...i don't know what it is with nyc schools doing that...just how they rollz

Is there any hope to people who have interviewed during the oct-nov period (Nov 21st for me) and haven't heard back? I wonder if tomm. will will see some more e-mails, as perhaps they are just doing them in stages, or even alphabetically for all we know. Any insight people?

I interviewed nov 23rd and also haven't heard anything yet...

I interviewed first week of nov. and haven't heard either. I'm assuming that means either waitlist or rejection. Does anyone know how many people are waitlisted at NYU and how successful people on the waitlist have been in the past with acceptances?

why are you assuming that? the bulk of their offers are going out in march to the best of my knowledge.

Lol...well htownpremie...let's just say a woman's gut feelings are always right 🙂 I just have have a feeling that that's my case. But you're right. Who knows, huh? I'm really interested in knowing though what the stats are regarding the waitlist results....

stay optimistic! it's a rollercoaster marathon 🙂

Thanks htown..I appreciate your positive attitude. I'll keep my fingers crossed. If not, at least I have somewhere else to attend. That's what most pre-meds hope for anyways. One acceptance!

I don't think it's a big deal if you didn't hear anything. I think in March they'll look at everyone again, so you still have another shot. Latinoguy617: it looks like they stopped reviewing interviewees the third week of November (based on what everyone has posted). I interviewed around your time, so it looks like we missed it by 1 week 🙁

I hope you are right. I interviewed the last day of the third week in Nov (the 21st) and haven't heard a peep. I am super bummed. I loved NYU and had a fantastic interview. Waiting sucks....

Oh yea, I remember I was with you and another person in the cafeteria. Did I split a cab with you to LGA or was that the other person?

Nope, we didn't split the cab. That was the other guy (from U of Illinois, I think).

Has anyone who interviewed Nov 17th or after that date been accepted or heard anything for that matter? I am just curious to find out if they are going by how early you interviewed or how much they like you...

So I'm *guessing* that NYU hasn't sent out any final decisions that aren't acceptances... does anyone know if NYU doesn't let you know of the final decision until March unless it's an acceptance (which I'm guessing will keep trickling out until spots are filled?)?

yeappp when i called to schedule my interview i was told that it is now beneficial to interview as soon as possible. so, i assume they will be sending out acceptances in a trickle from now on? merry christmas everyone!

I interviewed on November 17th and was accepted a few days ago.

Has anyone who interviewed on or after the 21st of November been accepted? I wonder what their cutoff date was?

So basically they are/have sent out decision letters to those who interviewed on Oct and Nov. I wonder what percentage of acceptance letters have been sent out?

What's the trend in past years with those on the waiting list? Do a good number of people get accepted?

Just got the letter today! Does anyone know if NYU offers any merit scholarships or if they are generous with their financial aid?

Good luck to everyone!! :luck:

congrats!! when did you interview?

I have an interview at NYU for mid-Jan but am already accepted to Mt Sinai. Do you guys think I should still visit the school or should I offer my space to another applicant and save some time and money? I really like Sinai, but was wondering what aspects of NYU might be stronger than Sinai (eg fin aid, clinical experiences...?) that should make me still consider NYU?

Does NYU do a good number of wait lists in March, or majority rejections? I'm interviewing in January, and this is basically my top choice school, so I'm wondering if I should immediately email them post interview with a letter of intent.... however, if they mostly do wait lists, I could always wait til after I get on the wait list, if that happens.

I don't know very much about Mt. Sinai, so I can't really compare the two.
I can say what impressed me about NYU. In terms of clinical experience, Bellevue takes the cake compared to pretty much every other school I've interviewed at. The amount that you will be able to see and do as a medical student will be astronomical.

During lunch on the interview day, there is a presentation/question and answer session with someone from admissions. She was pretty frank and willing to answer any question, so I bet that you could ask something along those lines and get a direct answer.

interviewed early october, no news though =(. Hopefully I'll hear something soon.

for all those curious to see more of rubin hall, the nyu class of 2012 facebook group has a bunch of really good photos.

i also interviewed on Nov.19!!!!

congratulations, im not home so i cant wait til i get back home and see if there is a letter.
i think they email you before sending any letters... anyone received a letter without an email?

accepted via email on the 23rd, got the letter in the mail today. sorry!

yeah same here. email on 22nd and letter a few days after

yep. I got the email first on the 23rd and my status changed on the website later that day. I didn't get the snail mail until today.

i will almost definitely be getting an apartment.. lol but that is because i want to live with my bf. if not for the bf, its a nice room with a sink, a decent amount of storage space, a bed, close to everything you need, and new friends nearby. wahts not to love? lol

ditto!

I've forgotten: is it a communal kitchen per floor? And a communal bathroom per floor? I forgot to write that stuff down when interviewing.

check out the NYU school of medicine class of 2012 thread on facebook.. there are a bunch of photos of the rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, hallways, etc 😛

does anyone know if there are any moderately priced hotels around, or did everyone use student hosts? Thanks!

depending on how long you are staying, i did a short term apt rental through craigslist. worked great, much cheaper than a hotel.

no nyu news from today??

has anyone sent in a LOI to nyu? I interviewed in mid-Dec and nyu is my top choice!!

No news on my front. I sent them a loi around thanksgiving to reinforce how much i liked the school. Hopefully they keep the acceptances up shortly. As far as I know they have not given out an acceptance after Nov 19th yet, so i'm sure another wave will hit, but it may be a few weeks imo.

Got accepted, payed the admissions deposit, got a confirmation email..status: Final Decision Pending - All final decisions will be sent on March 3rd..

What?
