If you don't mind losing the original, then send in the original or go to walgreens to get a good copy. Otherwise, just print it out yourself and send it in. Although I think the best way is to just upload it from you computer. It really doesn't matter though.

It should be a clear print. Original or otherwise, they just want to put a face to a name. It shouldn't influence their decision in any way...

Wait, that actually may be true. I wonder if there are any studies out there on school admissions where attractiveness influences a decision....
 
Does anybody know if you should include the names of optional writers if you are using interfolio to send all letters (including the optionals)? It says not to put the names of optionals if they are coming as part of a packet... but I am not sure if they mean pre med packet or an interfolio packet.

Any ideas?

I have the same question, but I don't think we need to include the names of the optional letter writers. Maybe we should call, just in case....although I'm sure even if we're wrong, it's no big deal haha
 
So, it took a while for me to get an email from SLU, which I thought was weird, but I figured the admissions office was just slow. This morning I got a reminder email to fill out the secondary, but it's the first I've heard from them. I don't have a spam folder or filter so I know my first invite didn't go there. Anyone else get a reminder without an email before it? Or maybe their invitation just says reminder in the title?
 
They are starting to give interviews! Woohoo!
 
Funkydrmonkey, how do you know this? Did you get one? If you did, would you mind saying when you submitted your secondary?

I submitted it on 7/14, They got my letters 7/31, I do not know when I was complete, but I got the invite today!😍

That's what I did. I'm at SLU right now and here are the things I would write about:

The block curriculum, possibly the location (if you're a St. Louisan), early emphasis on clinical exposure (see: Patient, Physician, and Society course on SLU's website).

I kinda wrote about their focus on "humanistic medicine" in their missions statement.....do you think that works too? I guess its not as much of a specific/practical answer

I did something similar I wrote about their focus on enhancing the health of the entire community
 
I have a question about hotels/motels near SLU... are there any that are within walking distance from the medical school? I looked up some of the ones they recommended in their interview links, but they all looked like you would need to drive to the interview...

Stay with a student host. Makes life easier. Otherwise, I can't think of any that are walking distance.
 
Anyone have a couch for a lonely interviewing pre-med for the Sunday before the September 15th interview day?

Did any of you interviewing at SLU get a snail-mail pamphlet from the Office of Admissions before receiving an invite? I just got this brochure today, after already being complete there, outlining their curriculum for each year. It wasn't in an envelope or anything, but I wonder what's the point of sending it when I should already have researched the school before applying? Anyone get it and still not have an interview?
 
so for SLU's optional essay, what do u guys write? I basically wrote how I value their philosophy of medicine and how I see myself as a good fit there. It turns out to be about one page long. Is this too long for optional additional comment section? Thanks.

I got an interview and I don't think I wrote anything... At least, I don't remember writing anything.
 
Yeah the humanistic approach is a big deal here too, as is the health care for the whole community thing. Of course, SLU is a Catholic school, but the emphasis is not just on abortion. There's a big attempt to respect the "sanctity of life" in all stages of life, emphasizing death with dignity, etc. So that's a big thing here. There are also three clinics dedicated to different groups. There's La Clinica, the HRC (just a general free clinic staffed by students), and the Chinese one too (which I don't know the name of).

I don't think it means anything. I got one over a month ago and but have not received an interview invite.

Hi everyone,
I have an interview at St. Louis Univ. next Tuesday 9/9, and I'm kinda having some trouble figuring out how to navigate between hotels, airport, and campus. So, I was wondering if any of you St. Lous med students would be able to let me stay overnight next Monday 9/8. I would greatly appreciate it, as it would massively lessen my stresses and traveling costs, while giving me the opportunity to get to know some current students. I'll buy you dinner! Thank you sooooooo much in advance! Please PM me.

i've been complete for awhile and haven't gotten anything.
 
I just asked if there were any updates to my application. A woman replied that I had been granted an interview and that she would be sending the invite to me. She sent both emails within the same minute.

MAYBE, I just caught them on the right day, but I don't think I would have my invite right now if I hadn't emailed. I don't think it's a coincidence that I asked for it, and she just gave it to me. Maybe they were going to send all of the invites out together?

If you have a morning interview, you can leave after the luncheon (2 PM?). If you have an afternoon interview, you might be there until 3:30-4 PM.

Morning interview ends at 1pm. Afternoon interview ends an hour after your interview (e.g. 2pm interview ends at 3pm).

I'm trying to schedule my flight and just wanted to get a clarification. My interview is scheduled for 1 pm to 1:45 pm, so, I should expect to be done around 2? Or does the itinerary tell you the range of time during which your interview might start? I'm a little confused.

If your interview is at 1 pm, then you will be done with the interview (and the day) at 2 pm.
 
For those that interviewed, did they tell you how long until you would be notified of your decision?
 
I interviewed on September 15th, and they did not tell me when they would be sending out acceptances.

But that won't stop me from stalker-calling them tomorrow! 😀

Does anyone know if SLU puts more emphasis on extracurrics/activities? I have an average app number wise, a 3.0/30, but have put in alot of clinical/research work, as well as volunteering, over the past 2 years for a doc who actually teaches public health at SLU, and is a big name in sickle cell disease. My app was put in on Sep 11, so now I'm just waiting....

Hey, just email this guy about the hosting program and they will send you a form to fill out and mail to them. They will then pair you up with a host. Good Luck. [email protected]

Haha, I know decisions get closer and closer to my interview day.

The guy I interviewed with said they try to meet weekly (which he said is hard b/c they sometimes will not have enough people to vote on a decision), so I'm guessing both you and I will recieve an e-mail within the next three weeks, possibly next week. But call anyway and do tell what they tell you.

It's been six weeks since my interview, should I call just to check up on my status?
 
Has anyone taken the MetroLink in St. Louis? Any opinions on it (safety, etc...)?

Also, anyone know how safe it is to walk a couple of blocks downtown at night by yourself? I'm going to a hockey game Sunday night, and was going to take the MetroLink from the arena to my hotel, but it stops a couple of blocks from my hotel and I'm not sure if walking alone at night is a good idea...or should I just take a cab?:scared:

Any help is greatly appreciated!🙂
