I'm from st. louis.

You can definitely walk from your hotel to the hockey game. Downtown isn't bad nor that dangerous. I live in Chicago now, and I definitely feel less safe here than I ever did in St. Louis. In my opinion, the crime there is isolated to certain areas (areas you won't be in).

So skip the cab and take a walk. By the way, I'm assuming you know that SLU isn't in downtown, its midtown.

Best of luck

Has anyone taken the MetroLink in St. Louis? Any opinions on it (safety, etc...)?

Also, anyone know how safe it is to walk a couple of blocks downtown at night by yourself? I'm going to a hockey game Sunday night, and was going to take the MetroLink from the arena to my hotel, but it stops a couple of blocks from my hotel and I'm not sure if walking alone at night is a good idea...or should I just take a cab?:scared:

Any help is greatly appreciated!🙂

The MetroLink is fine.

And you should be alright walking a couple of blocks around the hockey arena. But I wouldn't venture too far.

Has anyone without an interview called to check status? I've been complete for awhile now.

does anyone know how slu responds to letters of interest? this is one of the schools i really am interested in, and i havent heard anything from them.

I go to slu undergrad and we've had two muggings in the past week on campus (one was a male who got robbed at 6 pm). I would personally take a cab just to be on the safe side.

I interviewed on Monday. They said I should know in 3-4 weeks. If you haven't heard in 6, I'd call.

got my acceptance into SLU c/o 2013! :hardy:

It's always worth a shot.

How long is SLU's interview season? Like when did it start/when does it generally end? I've been complete for like 3 months now and I haven't heard anything from them. Do they do "silent rejections," or am I still in the running?

Anyone else interview on 10/14 hear anything back yet? I heard someone who interviewed after me got their decision within like 10 days but I thought I remembered hearing that we wouldn't hear back until ~Thanksgiving?

Canadian applicant here. Just got an interview invite today for SLU! My secondary was complete November 6th. I have a question about the scheduling. The dates offered are Dec. 23 or Jan 5, 6, 12, 13. Would all these dates be close enough together that it wouldn't make a difference in my chances or would it be beneficial to choose Dec. 23 since it is the soonest date. I would prefer to choose one of the January dates as my family is planning a vacation for the end of December.

I got an invite today also! I was complete Oct. 26. I had to choose Jan 13 because of work. I'm guessing that with some sort of winter break for admissions in between the Dec and Jan interviews, the admissions decisions will happen at the same time. Hopefully someone who really knows what they're talking about will have some advice also... Best of luck!

Interview invite today. I chose Jan 20th, though that was not the earliest slot. They do have interviews in San Francisco, where I live, but all of those slots seem to be full.

Anybody who interviewed in October still waiting to hear a decision?

Received an interview invite yesterday. Since I've been accepted to a school in my top 5 already, I am considering declining ASAP to free up a spot for someone else. But first, I wanted to know what I might be missing out on.. how was the interview day for those of you who already interviewed?

Very typical. Interviews/tour/short financial aid talk/lunch with current students. Nothing particularly impressive or unimpressive either way.

Anyone know when the SLU Adcom meets? Also, at my interview day they told us 3-4 weeks for a decision, but people from other dates are saying 6-8 weeks...has anyone called the admissions office lately to ask how long it would be?

Accepted!!! 🙂

3rd application cycle, I can't tell you how deliriously happy I was yesterday.

We were told 3-4 weeks at the interview, I was told 6-8 when I called, the actual acceptance for me was around 7.5 weeks.

Congrats!

Thanks! I feel like the largest burden in the history of burdens has been lifted off of me.

Yeah, I was told 3-4 at the interview and I heard in 5.

Good luck!

🙂🙂

ha ha, thats a great quote. im sure its true after three trips through - congrats!

I think i remeber hearing somewhere that, if you interviewed at SLU, were not accepted, and applied again, they would not interview you a second time - and instead would make a decision just based on your application.

Has anyone else heard that?

Accepted today! Interviewed 11/17. 😀

Accepted today! (via email sent at 4:15pm, central). Interviewed 12/2/09.

Good luck everyone!

SLU is still offering new interviews. Just got mine today! So excited.

ha, must be a WA thing...cause i got one this morning too...after about 5 months 🙂

Ahh, you guys are giving me hope. I don't want to get my hopes up though at this point. But I really really want an interview. I've been complete since mid-Sept! aldsfjdfadf

if you don't mind me asking, what are your stats and when were you complete?

3.6/36. I actually don't remember when I was complete. Sometime around September or so?

I got an invite too, but I'm not sure if I'm going to go. Are you planning on attending fizzle? Can anyone give me a quick break down of this school? Pros and Cons?

I too am curious about what others thoughts are on this school.... just received an invite today as well and am not sure I'm going to go...

Also, how far is the school from the airport? Would it be a relatively fast/cheap cab ride?

I don't know much about the school. Since the invite came so late in the cycle, I think I'm going to schedule this one for a late interview date so that I have time to hear back from schools I've already interviewed at. At this point in the cycle, I'm being more selective about where I go since it's really starting to hit my bank account 😛

I recieved an interview invite today. Does anyone know if the class is full? Am I interviewing for a waitlist spot?

Anyone else in their 14th week of waiting for a decision?

Are you serious? They said a couple weeks ago at my interview that it would be 4 to 5 weeks...

I interviewed in September and it took them about ten weeks to get back to me, I got in though, so I'm not sure if time is an issue beyond the terrible waiting-game. Call them perhaps?

No way, wow. Did you do an off-campus interview?

Nope. And yes, I have called more than once...they just say they are really behind...and yes, I have sent an update/LOI...guess my interview wasn't so hot...

So SLU accepts secondaries up to 2/15, I just got through the process of having surgeries and dealing with the mistakes made during those surgeries 🙁. I am looking at submitting my sec app today or tomorrow. Does anyone know if there are still spots available and if they are still interviewing? Thanks all!

They gave out some interviews last week actually so you are still in the running. Good luck to you.

Mine has been complete since august and I haven't heard a thing. I guessing not a good thing. Does anyone know if you call the admission department if they can give you any additional info on your application?

Well, I just interviewed in St. Louis, and the school is awesome. I still hate the Ram's, but I took a day and wandered around the city in the freezing cold, and I found plenty of cool stuff, and I didn't get mugged (nor did it feel as dangerous as some have made it out to be... but I'm coming from East LA, so I guess its all relative).

Anyway, I was pretty damn happy with the place, they've got everything I was looking for in a school (block courses, a few case based sessions woven in, attached hospitals w/ good clerkships, and good board prep). Just crossing my fingers on this place, and I guess I just have to hope the admissions decisions turns out posative... :xf:

OH, and what are someones chances ya'll figure since I interviewed so late?

I got an interview invite today from SLU--but its in Seattle!

Anyone else out there do an off-campus interview? Whats it like? Obviously you can't see the campus, step in on classes or talk to students... Seattle is closer for me and cheaper, but should I consider going to MO for this?
