Yea I'm really bummed right now, I worked hard on this secondary too. Umm i got an email that said check updates. Then it said "we regret to inform you but so on...."

I'm still in shock, I thought this was one of those schools that relied heavily on your extracurriculars/personal statement.... I knew my gpa was too low, but it is much earlier than I expected..... :-(

It's okay. Don't be too hard on yourself. This process is just too fickle.
 
BU has been know to hack applicants rather fast, especially later on in the process.

My first rejection. Luckily, I have a few invites to lessen the sting.

Don't worry all-- this process is random AND we are still in July. The vast majority of this game is yet to be played.

.........i feel like crap.....

mostly cuz my mcat isnt very high (low 30s) to begin with....boston was one of my less risky schools....

really makes me feel nervous as well as crappy..........i hope my app overall doesnt suck for the rest of the schools too.........dang........
 
BU has a ton of applicants, so don't feel too bad. I was also just rejected and I got an interview at Mayo. Go figure.

this feeling is getting worse every few minutes.........

my numbers are exactly boston's avg pretty much with the typical ec/etc....

pretty nervous and wanna just sleep......

Don't be too discouraged guys. Like others said, they receive tons of applications. Heck, it'll probably be a matter of time before I get my rejection letter.:laugh:

I will echo this. From what I've heard, the schools with the most "random" processes are the ones that received enormous numbers of applicants (i.e. BU, Georgetown, and GW, which receive 10k+ applicants). With that many people applying for so few spots, it does end up being a complete crapshoot. If you got rejected it probably means whichever faculty member had your app in his/her stack was having a rough day:laugh:, shouldn't mean anytning for your prospects at other schools.
 
i was rejected with 3.5/37 with above average ec's.
pretty surprised and disappointed.
 
is it possible BU just doesn't want to be used as a safety school? i can understand if they allowed a lot of very high # people to interview, they would have a high chance of acceptance. but at the same time, they would probably get accepted to more "elite" schools, meaning boston would have a hole to fill. so they axe these people they think are using BU as safety?

Yes, they do, hence why the stats of ppl who go there don't change that much every year.
 
i hope that is the reason and there's nothing terribly wrong with my application. i'm actually a reapplicant, so i'm not arrogant enough to say any school is my safety.

Also if it makes any of you guys feel better, i have 3 rejections so far. does that mean im a winner? :laugh:. No news from BU yet though...camaras put in a good word for me!

Got rejected with 3.7/32 and decent ECS. Kind of bummed but now I have motivation to finish the other secondaries I have. Who got an interview btw?

yes, being considered a safety is a reason for rejection, not just at BU, but almost any school receiving 8k+

and interviews have not been offered yet, save the EDP candidates of course.

lol its not elijah i wouldnt put my real name on sdn🙂. btw do u know when they start giving interviews? Im still complete on the site, so i hope its safe to assume maybe i missed the 1st round of rejections?
 
BU tend to reject a lot of qualified people because they get so many applicants and they don't want to be considered as safety school.

They tend to accept middle the road applicants who are still competitive. So if you have top scores and BU is your top choice, it would be helpful to send some kind of LOI

i actually dont know for sure, but rumor has it that the invites wont start until august.

its never safe to assume anything, havent we all already learned this lol

Meh, this is debatable. If the LoI lands in someone's pile who is just tired, the last thing they want is an additional document, and that being an LoI even before an interview has been offered.

yah there is a complete email. Everything being yes does not = complete. Mine said that then a few days later i got a app on hold email due to some things about LORs
 
grr... I was rejected 🙁

I really thought I actually had a good chance of at least getting an interview becuase my stats matched their averages..... w/e
 
did anyone who got complete last week get rejected? im starting to get nervous here :scared:
 
rejected with 3.67/32 (11,9,12,R) Average ECs. Its weird; i didn't think BU was a safety school for me. I really wanted to go there. Makes me worry about the overall quality of my app.

i was complete on 7/9/2009.
i also didn't fill out the "optional section"
the guys that got rejected, did you fill that out?
 
It's called "Optional Section" for a reason. It's optional. I'm pretty sure they dont' reject you just because you didn't fill out an optional section.
