It's not even me, and I am in anticipation too.

Unfortunately, I have some bad news for you guys. Dean Franco will not be able to make any calls until after the UP adcomm finishes voting on the CCLCM acceptances. That will be on Wednesday, so the very earliest she could make calls is Thursday. But she said it was more likely going to be Friday, late afternoon/early evening. Sorry, but you're going to have to hang on for a couple more days....

UP already voted on me once..does that count 😀

*has a heart attack*

so this is my spring break and im stuck on campus waiting to hear back from the 2 schools i got interviews with...man this waiting kills me
If she makes the calls on friday, then would waitlists/rejections be mailed out the same day? or earlier or later?

That's interesting, is it just a rubber stamp kind of thing? Or do you know if there have been instances where the UP committee vetoes a CCLCM acceptance? I can't imagine it happening very often, if at all.
My impression is that it's more of a rubber stamp kind of thing. I've never heard of the UP adcomm vetoing the CCLCM adcomm's acceptances.

Yeah, I thought so too! Could you explain the role of the UP voting?
I think it's mainly just because since CCLCM is a Case program, the Case adcomm needs to sign off on the CCLCM adcomm's votes.

Haha, nice try. 😉

Sorry about the heart attack. I don't think any letters will get mailed out this week, based on previous patterns. Don't forget that our admissions staff is only a couple of people, and they're also working on preparing for second look--when they're not also doing student affairs things for the med students.

Ah thanks... do you know why it wasn't necessary during the first two meetings though?

Regular meeting on Tuesday -> Case committee on Wednesday -> calls on Thursday/Friday?

Which would mean that the Case committee met much faster the last two times - I guess that's certainly possible, since they are particularly busy at this time of year.

So this thread has significantly died down... It makes me sad. What am I supposed to check obsessively until July if no one is posting comments? So I will ask questions to keep myself entertained.

I cannot find an academic calendar for next year. Is there one posted yet and if so where can I find it?

Is anyone considering any masters options?

Housing? Best Places?

The UP adcom sort of "ratifies" the decisions made by the CCLCM adcom. As CCLCMer mentioned, CCLCM is still a part of Case so the UP adcom rubber stamps their decisions. We do this after EVERY CCLCM adcom meeting. As for why it's taking longer this time than before, this is because UP finished interview season a couple weeks ago so the UP adcom which normally meets on every other Monday to do their thing and also ratify the CCLCM decisions, is not due for a UP meeting. Thus, the slight delay in the ratification process.

Ok, I am not sure how this came to be, but there is a chance that Dean Franco will make calls tonight after all....I'll let you know if I can get any more details.

Good luck, guys.

No, no, the thread lives on!

Are you asking for UP or CCLCM? They're different.

Is anyone considering any masters options?
I'm doing the clinical research MS, so I can tell you about that if you're interested. Myuu is doing anatomy I think.

Housing? Best Places?
Most people live in Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights, or Little Italy. It's easy to find apartments. When I got here the week before school started, I basically just drove around, called the phone numbers on the for rent signs, and looked at several apartments that same day. I had signed a lease by the end of the day. No sweat.

Actually Dean Franco already made the calls earlier this afternoon. Turns out that the Case adcomm finished voting earlier than she expected. I'm not sure how many people got calls, but I'm trying to find out.

No one here heard anything? 🙁

Ah, congratulations, IHeartSleep! Why did you edit it away? 🙂

For the rest of us, do we get put on the waitlist now?

just to make sure...this was a joke right lol
...aww guess not

wow. this is exciting! The class is now complete. Congrats to all those accepted and good luck to those waiting! Don't lose hope :luck:

Some people will be waitlisted and some will be rejected. I don't know how many will be on the waitlist. Just to head off the next question, I already asked that question and haven't heard back yet.

No, it's not a joke. I wouldn't joke about something like this, pelliper. Dean Franco had emailed me earlier to say she was going to make the calls, but I was doing a training session this afternoon and didn't read the email until a little while ago. When I asked what time she was calling, she said she already had.

ah man what a day. no message on my phone so im assuming no good news over here.

Heh, I wish.

I don't know why she edited her post, but it's not a practical joke.

Hahaha....yeah, be careful CCLCMer....my kids have plenty of those cars...and they HURT when you step on them...especially in the middle of the night! So be careful when you walk outside to get the mail! :meanie:

Is the waitlist going to be ranked in some way?
Also, when might the letters go out saying whether we have been rejected or are in a waitlist category?

so to add to your list of questions:
does most waitlist movement happen between now and april 15th, or between april 15th and matriculation?
and how many people made it off the waitlist last year?

sorry for the neuroticism, its been a rough week of waitlists 😳

Well, there is a simple solution, vc7777--don't walk outside to get the mail in the middle of the night. 😀

It looks like I'm not going to get any more info for tonight, guys. I'll let you know when I hear anything else.

Is the waitlist going to be ranked in some way?

The waitlist is not ranked. Again, I don't know when the letters will go out, but I've asked and will post as soon as I hear back.

does most waitlist movement happen between now and april 15th, or between april 15th and matriculation?
Most waitlist movement happens after May 1. It's unlikely that any movement will happen over the next month, because people usually don't drop before the second look. Also, some people ask for extensions and don't drop until around the end of April. So the first half of May is the most likely time that someone would get off the waitlist.

For those of you who are waitlisted, NOW is the time to write your letter of intent if CCLCM is your top choice school. Basically, the letter should say that you promise to withdraw from your other schools and attend CCLCM if accepted. Dean Franco does take LOIs into consideration when deciding who to accept off the waitlist.

and how many people made it off the waitlist last year?
We ended up accepting 50ish last year for a class of 32, so maybe 15 people?

sorry for the neuroticism, its been a rough week of waitlists 😳
No problem, I completely understand. It's not easy for me to keep up with all the breaking developments either. 😳

All right, all right. Cat's out of the bag. I didn't want to post about it as it'd compromise my anonymity (or what's left of it). You see guys, I'm secretly (not so secretly anymore) a ninja. :ninja: New career for me, I guess. (Doctor?)

I got in. (Hurray for me.) Call around 2:30pm EST.

Here's how it went, as I thought it was pretty funny. Scene: I'm shadowing a doctor (nicely enough).

I sit down on a chair, with my phone in the back pocket. It rings while I'm attempting to listen to the doctor (Wait, what?) I pull the phone out and in the process, I accidentally HANG UP since it's slider phone. I look at the area code...(Wait, wtf is 216. Am I getting another crank call? WAIT, IS IT CLEVELAND? I THOUGHT CCLCMER SAID IT'D BE THURS/FRI. And I had no chance here!!)

Then I immediately called back but it was busy. Got the voice mail a minute later, ran out and listened to it. Heard almost nothing besides "This is Dean Franco..." freaked out. Got another call from Dean Franco inviting me to second look (I picked up this time).

For the rest of the shadowing session, the doctor I was shadowing couldn't stop bragging to everyone. It was hilarious. He wanted to call my mom. And for the rest of today, I haven't paid attention in class, and screwed up my pipetting in lab.

Hope everyone else gets in through the waitlist. :xf:I'm not 100% sure if I will go, so you all MAY have a chance to take my seat. I am definitely going to second look so we can talk about horrible Case coffee, right vc7777? (When is 2nd look again and is it getting comp'ed? In my shock, I don't remember what Dean Franco said in the 2nd phone call.)

I'll buy you that matchbox car when I come for 2nd look, CCLCMer! Thanks for everything. 😍

Anyone out there like me who was on high hold and didn't get accepted?

Haha, great story. 👍

Yes, the second look is comped. The school pays for your hotel and meals, and I think you get like $200 toward travel expenses. One of the other accepted people will have to tell you the exact details.

The date is April 8-9. Glad you can make it, and congrats again. 😀

I consider it a done-deal....we shall see you at Second Look! 😍

The coffee can't be that bad.

Would it help if I said the pastries were delicious?

Besides, Case rejected me (post-interview hold-->"do not anticipate any more acceptances" email). I bet it's because they read this thread and saw me ripping on the coffee. CCLCM accepted me and I said I liked their really awesome breakfast (yogurt parfait, OJ if I remember...) This is a note to future applicants. Don't say anything bad on SDN about a school. Especially their breakfasts. 🙁

Yay I am tentatively part of the "5th" society at Case.

"Well, the curriculum was lacking, the opportunities few, but they had the most delicious continental breakfast ever!" [AUTO-ACCEPTANCE]

Darn. LOI here I come (well, I'll wait until a letter shows up first). I was really hoping for a call Thursday as a spectacular birthday gift.

The waiting continues.

ciufo88, we interviewed the same day, yeah? (URoch?) I think you had to run and catch a ride to the airport with one the girls who had relatives in Cleveland. You seemed like a cool guy...I hope you get in! :xf:

I was one of the girls....one of the three girls out of the six people who interviewed that day, I think. Haha, there's almost little point to trying to be a ninja now and hiding my identity.

:luck: to you though!! Happy early birthday to you and I hope you get other acceptances on Thursday!!

For those who were wondering, there were 12 people who received calls today. Waitlist and rejection letters should be going out soon, but there isn't a specific date that has been chosen to mail them on.

Sorry to be nonspecific... The UP academic calendar... I can't find it. Where would I be able to?

high hold- never received a call.

I'm in the same boat with you all!! 🙁

im really curious how many people are on "high hold". is there even any hope for the people on regular hold? 🙁 also, if we are on high hold does that mean we have a really good shot at making the waitlist? 😀

Wow, you guys are a bunch of nightowls.

Sorry to be nonspecific... The UP academic calendar... I can't find it. Where would I be able to?
Sorry, I can't help you there. If one of the UP students can't tell you, I suggest that you call their office tomorrow and ask.

No idea how many people are on high hold. I don't think even Dean Franco knows the answer to that.

I also can't tell you how much hope there is for people on regular hold versus high hold or how likely it is that you will be waitlisted based on your category. This is the first time they've ever done high holds, so it's not even like I can speculate based on what they did last year. Logically, it makes sense that being on high hold is better than being on hold, but how much better is anyone's guess.

It is now 3 AM. I really need to go to bed myself. If I get any new info tomorrow, I'll post it for you guys.

We're very protective of our coffee. You could've hurt its feelings!!:meanie:

In breakfast related goings-on, the admissions office treated us to a rather delicious breakfast just for us and not applicants last week. :d SO GOOD.

In our off-topic goings-on, I finally got around to watching the Star Trek reboot yesterday. I was wandering wikipedia, as many are prone to do, when I came upon this interesting tidbit about Kate Mulgrew.

...why didn't I know this?!

Hey IHeartSleep, yeah, I was the URoch guy (I didn't have to run off though, I drove in).

Congrats on your acceptance though, hope to be in the same boat come May!

Hi!!! To whoever knows the answer to this =DDDDD

Just a quick question:

From what I've been seeing on this thread- waitlist is different from hold/high hold.
Does this mean that if you were on hold/high hold before, there is still only a small chance of being on the waitlist- or is it kind of an automatic?
So- if I did want to write an LOI should I wait until the waitlist notification comes or should I send it now with the assumption that I will get one?

Sorry if that came out convoluted or if I just started stressing other people out ><

not sure what they plan to do with high hold...my sense of logic clashes with the wording of the high hold letter

logic: they will waitlist 30-50 people but like other schools, they will try to pick a diverse smattering of waitlistees so they can "replace" people who drop out with waitlistees who look similar. they dont do this kind of analysis when putting people on high hold/hold so there is a chance you could be on high hold and not make the waitlist, or on hold and still make the waitlist

letter: "some prior years we would be certain you would have received an offer by the end of the interview period based on your rating. you are within the top group for any openings that become available. we should know by april 15th"--which makes it sound like we will be at the top of the waitlist (though nobody knows how many people are on HH)

I don't know if I'd want the captain of the ship that got lost in the delta quadrant being the voice of my bus. Granted she made it back faster than expected.
