So do any Case UPers have any inside info on whether post-interview hold people are getting re-reviewed today? Or are they still reviewing the last applicants who interviewed in Feb? I'm so excited to hear back soon, I really hope it's good news!

Today's adcom meeting was for applicants interviewed over the last two weeks. The full committee does not meet again to look at post-interview hold people, that review is conducted solely by Dr. Mehta and Christian.

Wow. That must be tough to go through all those applicants and still keep up with everything else.

IIRC the final CCLCM subcommittee meeting is this Thursday... CCLCMer, do you know when Dean Franco will be making the calls this time? :luck:

Second look weekend email came out today, already sent in my reservation (did not know a waitlist was made for this haha).

Quick question I didn't see addressed in the email: What attire do we wear?

This!
Hi all,

So the second look invites were sent today! There has always been a waitlist in the past, and the slots fill up fast. So respond quickly! 🙂 (and also say quickly if you can't come, because someone is waiting for that spot)

Business casual is good for the events. Ties and jackets aren't necessary for guys, even for the alumni dinners. Look nice to go to someone's house for dinner.

In my opinion, a jacket would have been a hindrance during Second Look last year. A nice, button shirt on khaki pants is good enough, go with tie if you like to.

Hope this helps!

Am I the only one who can't login to iApply? I keep getting a server-side runtime error after I enter my username and password. 😡

Nah, others have been having issues tonight.

CCLCMer, do you attend the committee meetings?

Put in a good word for me if you do. 😉 Then I can tell more people about how much I love CCLCM and you can get that car of yours.

This is good to know. Thanks iceman!

Thank you for explaining this! I was hoping it might apply to me... sigh
Anyone else being killed by the anticipation!?
Yes! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!
...and I was soooooooooo hoping to be able to go to the second look! T_T

Thanks iceman! That was really helpful 👍 Does anyone know when Dr. Mehta and Christian will be finished reviewing post-interview holds? For example, perhaps they are scheduled to have everyone re-reviewed by the end of March? Just trying to gauge how long I have yet to wait for a decision since I've been on hold since early Nov.

Yeah, I'm also a little disappointed that even if I were to get accepted, I most likely won't hear back about a decision in time to go to second look. Oh well, at least I haven't been rejected yet :xf: so that's something to be very grateful for. Go Case!

Do any of the current UP and/or CCLCM students know why we start soooooo much earlier than almost any other med school (July 8)?

I have a question about the CCLCM program (I'm not sure if it applies to UP) but I was reading the website and saw that if accepted to CCLCM, we'd have to decide by April 15 on whether we are attending or not. I was wondering if there has been a history of extending this deadline? I know there are some second look weekends that happen later than April 15 (Michigan's is May 7-8) and I would really hate to be rushed into my decision especially without getting a chance to go to certain schools second looks.

CCLCM starts early bc you do a rotation in a lab that summer before med school starts.

Hang in there Auriga! We'll get through this together! And Case is worth the wait!

That's right, we don't suffer alone! And agreed, this suffering is much better than a big no!

I just had a jolt of concern when reading another thread - other than the FAFSA, is the deadline approaching for additional information for financial aid? If I haven't been accepted YET (optimismmmm) should I get that info to them already? The things like parents' Tax info? I want to make sure I know when I need to get it by...which again I'll gripe is BS for a 30 year old married student, ughhh...because it will be an ackward and seeeeeeriously uncomfortable conversation with my father (with whom I haven't spoken for 6 yrs, when I married someone he didn't approve of). >_< I don't want to cross that river until I absolutely must! But I'll do anything for Case <3 <3 <3 *sparkling grin*

I was told that the deadlines for finaid stuff are for accepted applicants only. Applicants that haven't been accepted yet don't need to send anything. If accepted in the future and the finaid form deadlines have already passed you just submit the forms ASAP but you'll still be fine. Is it wierd that I would be ecstatic to be able to fill these forms out (accept me off the hold list already!) 😀.

Now iapply is working, but the computing requirements link doesn't show anything. Is everyone having this problem?

Iceman -- thanks for the info!

I interviewed on 2/15, checked iApply today and have a letter of acceptance on there!

Everyone who interviewed in the last couple weeks, check your iApply!

Now iapply is working, but the computing requirements link doesn't show anything. Is everyone having this problem?

I was getting an error earlier for the computing stuff, however, the links are now working.

Sadly, none of our laptop choices are available yet, we have to wait until later in the year to see what our options are. I'm hoping for a decent graphics card in the larger model 😀

Interviewed on 2/23 and just got accepted too! I also got another letter on iapply saying that I was invited to apply for one of Case's merit scholarships and they were going to send material in March. I was wondering if anyone has gotten the app and essays yet and if so, how long is it?

Edit: Nm. I just got an email with the app. Another 500 word essay! Fun...

See this is you didn't earlier:

Officially, you have to go with the stock models, which after last WWDC made the macs on the uber low-end as far as graphics go. Unofficially, you can pretty much talk the IT department into anything, so long as you can run Windows natively.

aww. placed on hold.
You think this late in the game they would just accept or reject me huh.

Well, I can't speak to the history of extending the deadline. But if you ARE accepted (are you?), I would try to be upfront with the office, and tell them your concerns. If you are not accepted there...no sense in worrying about it now...

I suppose you could make your own trip to Ann Arbor (heck I'd show you around if you wanted...I'm there M-F myself...) if that is what you are waiting on? Or are you waiting for your financial aid package?

As a Michigan alumni...I wouldn't pick them over CCLCM anyways...but that's partly because I didn't get an interview there...

Welcome to the club! Benefits of membership include the development of zen-like patience, intermittent stress-related digestive issues and the uncanny ability to read meaning into the smallest action of the admissions committee.

Enjoy your time with us! 👍

so the CCLCM meeting is tomorrow (drumroll), does anyone know when Dean Franco will start making calls, and when letters will be sent out (for the holds and stuff) Im getting antsy with waiting...

has anyone been rejected after an interview, or is everyone not accepted place on hold?

Same here. Interviewed 2/19 for the University Program and got my acceptance today (3/2). 😀

Congratulations!😀

has anyone been rejected after an interview, or is everyone not accepted place on hold?
People do sometimes get rejected instead of placed on hold here. We don't put you on hold if there isn't even a remote chance of you getting in here. We're just not that mean.👍

CCLCMer said:
The meeting is on March 4, not March 3. I don't know if Dean Franco will make the calls this Friday or the week after.

What she said.

I just opened up a UP spot for somebody. Case is awesome and was really hard to let go of...good luck!

I appreciate that Case does this. I can't fathom why some schools just have a huge waitlist and no post-interview rejections. Rip the band-aid off if there's no hope. Don't give false hope!

thanks, and sorry about the asterix club haha. perhaps we can start respective chapters and hold annual nation-wide conventions.

sooo how many people here are on hold/high hold for the college track?

yeah CCLCMer anyway you can ask dr. franco how many people are on the high hold list after their meeting tomorrow...thanks!!

Since something like 2/3 of the club will be here in Cleveland...I think the nationwide meeting will probably be here too! Hahaha....well - good luck and take care!:luck:

hold = WL

it's just semantics

people have gotten off hold and gotten accepted...not sure how many, though

Well, as soon as Dr. Mehta and Mr. Essman go through and reevaluate the holds, things should get a whole lot clearer for you guys.👍

In other news, blue skies and brilliant sun over Cleveland today! Break out the shades, 'cause this is going to be awesome.😎

Hey Myuu, do you (or anyone for that matter) know when this might be? And if they reevaluate holds in the order applicants were placed on hold or how? Thanks!

As soon as anyone knows when dean Franco is going to make her calls, let us know!!!!!!!!

No, but I'll see if I can find out.

You send me the car first. I've had too many people telling me that the car is on the delivery truck. :meanie:

Do any of the current UP and/or CCLCM students know why we start soooooo much earlier than almost any other med school (July 8)?
This:
Because you do 10 weeks of Basic and Translational Research (plus a fundamentals of Molecular Medicine Journal Club) at the beginning of the year.

I have a question about the CCLCM program (I'm not sure if it applies to UP) but I was reading the website and saw that if accepted to CCLCM, we'd have to decide by April 15 on whether we are attending or not. Yes, you should contact Dr. Franco and ask for an extension. I had the same problem and did the same thing when I applied. In the meantime, you should withdraw from all other schools that are definite no-goes by April 15.

sooo how many people here are on hold/high hold for the college track?
No idea.

yeah CCLCMer anyway you can ask dr. franco how many people are on the high hold list after their meeting tomorrow...thanks!!
She doesn't know either.

I'm lovin' it! 😀

As soon as anyone knows when dean Franco is going to make her calls, let us know!!!!!!!!
I'll see if I can find something out for you guys.

The meeting started about an hour and a half ago, so obviously she's tied up right now. 😛

Y'all get that hold status email? Kinda messed up. I was under the impression that holds could go straight to acceptances sometime soon (as opposed to waitlist then acceptance). Or maybe some did get off hold already? A lot of this stuff is bs. I don't know. All I do know is I'm tired of waitlists.
