Wow DUCKIE I would call Ms. Walk, you were not kidding when you said there was hundred dollar bills flying all all the way from Cal to DC lol. I hope you saved you insurance slip that was provided with the money order.

any one interviewing tomorrow?

also, anyone inclined to share their interivew experiences/ questions?

Relaxed and laid back seems to be the Howard interview way. None of that intimidation stuff, your not going to feel like your being question by the FBI like I've heard about other schools. Interview is pretty much tell me about you.

Any recent interview invites out there?? I'm just wondering when they're going to send out the next batch?

Well, mine was a bit stressful. He talked about divorce rate being so high in the U.S and how kids here are out of control. I was like wtf, but I tried to put a positive spin on every negative stuff he talked about. I am not orginially from the U.S so I guess he really wanted to see if I liked the country or not, and whether or not I would stay here once I graduate. I swear we talked about the U.S for a good 10 minutes and he asked me one strength/weakness question and that was it. From what I've heard other interviewees had a good experience so you should be fine but prepare for everything. U never know what might come up!🙂

lol not that i'm accepted yet😀, but there is this place in maryland where i know a lot of 1st years live...ugh, that doesn't help does it? i think it's by prince plaza which is on the red line. i believe you'll need to take another train to get to school. i'm not sure if that helped...i think it's called the towers.

The place you are talking about is called the towers at UTC it is near Prince George Plaza. Actually it is off the green line and it is only one train 9 mins on the train I want to say about 6 stops but not a long ride at all. Its actually a really nice furnished place starting around 800 a month

Called Ms. Walk 30 seconds after I got the email saying that I could call, and I'm in! YAAAY!

Interviewed Nov. 3rd

Congrats to everyone who's been accepted! Can't wait to see everyone in the fall! Please be sure to join the HUCM c/o 2014 Facebook group!!!

michiganpsych08, let's hope our state gets a nice xmas present 😉

6000 applications received so far whoa! That's 5 acceptances for every 100 applicants, a 5% chance wow 300/6000 !! I feel blessed to have been accepted. Good luck you guys.

Yeah, jclass. I just got that email too.

With more than 6,000 verified applicants (the highest number ever at Howard), we have been working agreessively to review every secondary application and AMCAS application. It is a tedious job.

We have completed about one-half of our interview goals and are now inviting candidates for January interviews. However, we are taking a few weeks off to recoup from a strenuous fall.

Well, at least they've put my nerves to rest and I'm glad to hear they aren't completely shutting down during the break. 'Half way there' is some good relief. There's still hope! Happy holidays everyone and congrats to all those accepted! 😍

thanks for the heads up, that one inbox could have made me over excited 😉

yea i got over excited when i saw an email from howard today..especially it being a friday...usually nothing comes on friday's...i shouldve known better🙄

I interviewed with someone at Howard on Dec. 8 who goes to xavier university of louisiana with initial N.N. and whom has already been accepted to LSU Medical school...

If you happen to read this thread...please send me a pm...we rode train together after the interview.

Just got the email that I am out of committee and a decision will be informed early January (Ms. Walk is taking a long overdue vacation):xf::xf::xf:...my question is: how many people who have gotten this email and are eventually REJECTED without being waitlisted at first?

It would be torture if one gets an "out of committee" email, which will get one excited, and days later are rejected...what I am saying is: if I was rejected, I would prefer to get the thin letter rather than getting this "out of committee" email preceding this eventual thin letter...

What say you, fellow SDNErs?

Does Out-committee email usually mean = accepted or waitlisted??
or out-committee email= accepted, waitlisted, or rejected??

If the latter is true, oh man! I won't touch that thin letter with a 10-ft pole:laugh:

Out of committee email just means out of committee. Everyone gets that email when they are out of committee. You'll just have to wait and see.

Yea robu58, your out of committee means just that. But it's a good sign that you interviewed, I looked back as far as I could on howard threads, and everyone who interviewed seemed to get accepted. Howards picky they only interview people who fit their school. Now unless you blew your interview by saying something like " the REDSKINS suck!!!!!!!!""" Then you should be good. 🙂

I interviewed on Nov 3 (only Hispanic in the room lol) and i called last week to know my status and they told me I was in =]...I'm just waiting for my letter in the mail. So would you guys say I need to take my car to DC?? I hear you don't need one but that just seems unbelievable to me...being from a small town and all.

Yoooo Hispanic number 2 here from MA, I prefer Puerto Rican. Where you from? Get on the facebook page Alekano. Congrats.

i am thanking God that i am a part of the family!!! i am so happy 😀 merry Christmas everyone! and a happy new year!

thingshopedfor did you get the email letting you know that you were able to call for your decision

Hispanic #2 haha I'm from a very small town in Mexico but I did my undergrad in San Antonio, TX. I already joined the facebook group. How long did it take for you to receive your acceptance letter? How long do you have to confirm your acceptance?

Congrats on your acceptance and welcome to the HUCM family. I would say bring your car just so you have it just in case. I brought my car, I rarely use it, but there were times durig this semester where I wanted to drive to school and having your car there does at lest give you that option. Congrats again, let me know if yall need anything. I am on break and loving it! Hahahahaha, so will be checking this tread.

Wow Mexico kool alakano, yea I would bring the car just incase you never know. You will have 30 days from the date stamped on the letter to submit 400 dollars along with the acceptance form signed by you. Well congrats man. Blackdr2b congrats how was the first year experience? Any good insight. .

This first semester was something special! HAHAHA! It was tough because of all the material. But it was a lot of fun! You guys/gals are going to love HU! We work so hard, but we play even harder. But my class did very well this semester. Structure & Function was my favorite. I love the body. I didn't really care for molecules & cells. Towards the end of the semester I got really tired but that was because of how hard we were working. Like people said on your interview, relax now and enjoy your time because when s school starts, IT GOES and doesn't stop until the semester is done. But you guys/gals will do great! The upperclassmen will take care of you and my class, 2013, will take care of you all. All you have to do is put in your work and you will be fine. I always tell myself that this is my job and this is what I signed up for. I am soooooo happy that I go to Howard. I would choose HU over any other school in the country!

Wow, I guess us californians shouldn't complain about being far from home. I think I might be the only asian in this years bunch so far. Ain't worried.

Having a cars always nice. I have no idea how I'm gonna furnish my place by myself and carless. Other than that dc looks like it has a good public transportation system that seems like it'll get us by til rotations. From my visit to dc, it's looks like traffic n parking is terrible. Idk if u wanna bring it without securing a parking spot first.

Good insight blackdr2b, I love molecules and cells. I hate big city parking nothing worse than going up and down one ways trying to find a parking spot. I drove through a street right in front of HU Hospital, and I dunno how they parked on that narrow one way st.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!!!!

hello howard sdn-ers! It looks like we took a vacation right along with ms walk too. Any good news over break? hope everyone's rested and ready for the return to the application rollarcoster.

to everyone accepted can you please please please post your stats (gpa and mcat score) because i plan on applying to meharry next year....i am really excited and thank yall!!!

(to the above poster with the annoyingly large and bright post) Umm...this is Howard's thread, not Meharry's. You do realize that, right???

Lastly, I am saying my good-byes to this thread. I withdrew my application from HU the other week. But, I wish you all nothing but the best and perhaps our paths will meet some day in the near future.

Continued blessings to all and I hope you're enjoying 2010!!! It's our time to shine - Let's get it!

Good luck pink ivyhope all goes well in your future. And wannaMD please post in normal font thanks. I doubt anyone is gonna post their stats, you might wanna hit up the meharry thread.

wannaMD, you might just wanna check out MDapplicants.com for that information. I hope you don't name drop the wrong program later on during an interview. Good luck with that.

Can I still apply to Howard's BS/MD program if I am going for the Feburary deadline (also can you please tell me the deadline for the program and the actual school - they are pretty close I think)

Did anyone who has already been accepted receive an email about doing a background check this morning?

ok, so i got complete end of september and when i called they said i was in review
My question is does howard not reject people till the very end when all interviews are done? or have they sent out any rejections already?

Wow, I just received my complete e-mail today! I guess there's no set pattern for how much time is between being complete and receiving an interview invitation. I'd like to know if rejections have been sent, too!

Whats up with the CBC, How am I supposed to remember every address I have lived at, thats like 13 places! Also whats up with the military crap where the yes and the no boxes are kinda wacked up so it looks confusing! Oh and then the following question after that about the military about discharge is worded funny, imma have to contact them

How long do they wait to send rejections/invitations for interviewing? I REEEALLLY want to go here, so I hope I get invited!

Also, are you supposed to call them regularly or just wait for them to contact you?

I dont usually get anyone when i call....but i do email on and off. my application has been complete for quite some time and still waiting....:xf:

It's been two months since I submitted my secondary to Howard...no complete email, nothing. I didn't want to bother the office, but I've been having SUCH bad luck with USPS that I had to call and see. I dialed back-to-back till I got someone, and she couldn't confirm anything. "We're still processing applications...I don't have it in front of me, but perhaps Ms. Walk has it. If you don't hear anything back by next week, let us know because our deadline is coming up January 15."

I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG!!! If they DIDN'T get it, then I'll DEFINITELY be late if I wait until next week to get in touch with them! But I don't want to be that annoying person who's calling them everyday trying to get some information. But c'mon, dude...TWO MONTHS when you approximated FOUR WEEKS. And I didn't want to bother you during the holidays, or rush you, but...this is KILLING ME!:scared:

Ugh, I love you so much Howard...what can I do??🙁 :help:

I was in the same boat--I submitted my secondary November 19 and didn't get a complete e-mail until January 6. There have been a lot of holidays and such in the time since you submitted, so I wouldn't worry too much. I'd say wait until Friday or Monday to call again.
