Sounds like I am in the same situation. I received an email saying "Thank you for your application!" on 8/26. Then on 9/9 I got an email that said "Receipt of Johns Hopkins Secondary Application" .

We have received your secondary application. You will be notified if any items are needed to complete your application. We will send an e-mail when your application is complete and ready for review by the Committee on Admission.

etc.

Haven't received anything since? Is there something we should be doing here?

Thanks
.

I sent my hard copy secondary on 8/26, received an "receipt" email on 9/3 and today (9/23) I received a "complete" email.

I too recieved a complete email about 20 days after they recieved my hard copy. 9/17 complete

Mine was almost a month: hard copy 8/14, complete 9/10. That's just the way it goes.

I interviewed here today, just got back but I should say every minute of today made me fall in love with this place even more. =)

Good Luck to all those interviewing here soon and feel free to PM me any questions you might have about Hopkins or Baltimore.

I heard a rumor that Hopkins auto-accepts everyone who professes their love in the form of a professionally choreographed musical mid-interview. Be careful, one flat or sharp note coming out of your mouth results in an automatic rejection. This applies to all schools, by the way, it's a secret cheat code.

On a more serious note, this school sounds more impressive with every wave of applicants. I hope you get in!

 🙄

It appears I'm the first reject. Hope the quick axe doesn't mean I'm completely undesirable at other top tier schools... 🙁

Oh they send them, apparently. No interview. Ah well...

Hugs all around! lol Not sure how I rate the letter either...

Wisconsin > Mayo > Hopkins > Vanderbilt maybe, lol

i got the axe today as well, simply cannot believe this.

Yeah, I got it too. I am totally surprised by this, as I spent a ton of time on their application, and I'm exactly the type of person they say they want in their application materials.

Sigh... their loss.

snail mail, complete a couple days after they released their secondary.

...oh well.

snail mail rejection here... what a way to start the weekend...

yeah, i was totally surprised by this too considering the kinds of stats I have and the amount of EC's and work I put into their essays. Not even an interview, in a pool of 4000-5000 apps? BS.

It's okay. I got my rejection letter too.

Hugs?

You have > my stats and are already rejected *sighs* Looks like Duke is about as good as I'm gonna get on this cycle.

I admit it. I would DIE to go here.

Sorry about your rejections. Their loss. Hang in there. If you don't mind me asking, does your status page say that you're rejected? I'm wondering whether Johns Hopkins updates the status online or not.

Hot Tip: Do not walk around Johns Hopkins Hospital in a wife beater.

HAHA! You have to expand on this. Please tell me an applicant didn't take off his dress shirt to reveal the wife beater he then wore to tour around the hospital.

That reminds me...I actually walked around touring Princeton for undergrad admissions in a wife-beater lol

Maybe that's why I was rejected...I think there were other reasons though.

No, that alone could possibly have sufficed, lol.

So I'm a little late on my Secondary and I'm kicking myself really hard for it, but I have a few questions before I run to the post office and submit my hard copy:

What type of picture did you all send? I was thinking about putting on decent clothes and running to the pharmacy for a new one.

Also, do you have to request interfolio to send your letters to JHU, or is it taken care of by selecting the letters to send with AAMC?

Thanks!

I think the photo you're planning on taking will be ok 🙂 And as for my school, all I had to do was designate JHU on the AMCAS LOR section. Hope this helps!

Thanks! But to clarify a little more on the picture. Would you recommend a shirt and tie? Or something like a polo or more casual button-up?

Anyone else complete for a long time here and still no interview or rejection?

I think you'd be ok with either but keep in mind that the adcoms are fairly conservative...maybe go with the shirt and tie b/c it's more professional?

wear a full-blown suit! everyone there on my interview day was wearing a suit. and they were mostly black suits, at that. we looked like investment bankers. or a funeral party.

shoot...what if i have a shirt and tie in my pic and i am a woman? it's too late now, but whenever i'm wearing it around, strangers ask me weird questions about my clothes.

I wouldn't worry too much about it since you can't change it now. Just keep that in mind for interviews :luck:

Interview Invite! Got the email at around 5pm on Friday. Complete 9/17.

anyone still waiting on a complete email..

Ok, I hate when people ask this question, but I can't find it anywhere:

Does anyone know how many of the people they interview get accepted?

From 2007 (usually doesn't change much):
4344 applied, 774 interviewed, 279 were accepted

over 35%

Thats not bad at all. I wonder what stats were last yr, they said they needed to only call 5 people off the waitlist in comparison to 50 in the previous years. It was an 'outlier' year but with the new facilities and such, I am guessing this year would show a similar trend, comments?

Hm, JH never told me it got my hard copy. I sent it in late August/early September. Do you think it's time to call?

Most of us have waited quite a while to get the 2 emails: one being secondary rec and the other being file complete. Some of my friends who submitted in early-mid aug just got complete emails last week.

If you don't get the hard copy rec email this week then call. Wait till thurs/fri i guess?

You may want to call...I mailed mine around 9/23 and got an e-mail today saying they received it...

Sorry if I'm being a nuisance but does this mean they got my hard copy too? It doesn't say anything about one.
