they meet every month. straight from the horses mouth.

doesnt matter anyway because once they meet, they have a decision. you are either accepted and called, or snail mail waitlist/reject. they wont string you along for months

Hmm that's interesting. on our interview day (9/17) we were told that we'd hear around october 27th. but the interview dates a week before us (9/10-9/11) are apparently hearing now...this suggests more than a once-monthly meeting, no? or at least a meeting schedule that is offset (like if they meet on the 15th of each month, which would mean some october interviewees could have been decided on by the adcom by the time the next notification calls go out).

This sounds right to me. My group (Oct. 2) was also told that we would here back by the end of October (I presume the 27th).

Who knows? Let's not overthink this. I need to push JHU out of my mind. I fell in love with it, and I'm gonna be heartbroken if I don't get in.

👍 Agreed.

Wasn't the school amazing? Couldn't ask to meet a more talented AND wonderful group of people.

Did they give you guys a timeline at your interview Ksmi?

Well said, but I am still so excited knowing that I could know my decision anytime from now on!

When will they send me my rejection so I can Eject all hope of attending and move on to other concerns!

pre-interview rejections go out by snail mail periodically. Post-interview rejections should be going out at the same time as acceptances and waitlist decisions.

I submitted my app in late Sept. Do they email saying complete. Right now my status page says (Application System Status: Submitted). Does this mean it isn't complete?
thnx

Please send me the link to this status page.

I was never able to find one and I would love to add JHU to the list of status page websites I log onto 3x a day.

Interview invite! woohooo 🙂

Quick question: The email said that the interview day runs until about 5 pm, so do you think I'd be able to catch a 6:15 bus from Penn Station? Considering the time needed to retrieve my overnight things (I'm planning on staying with a student host overnight), wait for the JHU shuttle, and get to the train station, would 6:15 be cutting it too close?

Hey guys it looks like later submissions took about a month in between receipt and completion. Anyone's completion take over a month?

You should be OK. Penn station is close from JHU. If you ran out of time, you can catch taxi and get there.

um you got rejected by vanderbilt. you lose. hahah congrats dude!

Haha thanks man! When are you coming to Baltimore?

If any of you are interviewing anytime soon and would like to meet up let me know I work very close to the admissions building and would be happy to answer questions about Life in Baltimore because I have been here for a little over 4 years.

Good Luck everyone! :luck:

So, the JHU stats are way lower than Columbia and Harvard. How is that possible? Am I missing something or does the amount of police on-campus really make up for Baltimore? Do certain crimes go underreported in Baltimore relative to other campuses?

You can pull up JH below by campus. The Harvard link I'm putting is specifically for the medical school but the Columbia link is for Columbia as a whole, as far as I can tell.

http://www.jhu.edu/~security/annual_report.htm#JHMIStats

http://www.hupd.harvard.edu/09-10longwoodcriminalstatistic.pdf

http://www.columbia.edu/cu/publicsafety/CrimeStatsCurrent.pdf

I am not sure why its lower but as far as I know even small attempted robberies in areas away from the campus are reported on the security bulletins. If you are in close vicinity of the undergrad and the med campus then you are relatively safe and as long as you are not walking alone in lonely areas late at night its not too bad.

this is probably redundant but:

I submitted my app on 8/9
Got the email saying my paper stuff was in the following week-which said that they will email me when my entire packet was complete (makes no sense since everything was turned in before the paper packet but w/e)
I had to call him 9/15 because I still have not received that darn final email confirming that all systems are go.....later that day I got the email
Have not heard anything since.....I just checked with my mom-no letters from them which I suppose is good news.
Is it taking this long for everyone, 8/9 isn't exactly late-they should have been able to take a look at it a while ago.
Arrrrg freaking out!

Quite redundant. This is just the way things happen. They aren't gonna give you a final answer until they feel like it, so just be patient.

I just wish there was some approximate time given.
Are they like Emory-who do not reject anyone during the interview season and if they aren't sure about you on the first pass through, they may come back to you again? (I ask you this because you read JHU adcom's mind and all lol)

They do reject people during the season, so as long as you haven't gotten a rejection, you have a chance.

Haha I think Ksmi is right there is absolutely no point in trying to judge adcoms minds. You can get an interview invite at any point during the season. Sometimes if you fall in the maybe pile they review you later or sometimes apps are ranked from time to time and invites are sent out based on those ranks. No one knows for sure what happens with the apps but rest assured they are going to read you app fully and give you a decision whenever they have one. Keep hanging on!

I'd suggest you call to inquire, but the only thing you will find out is that the Hopkins admissions office is the angriest in the country.

To spare you the trouble, they basically told me everything is on their website (which it isn't).

I interviewed on the same day as jla (see above), but haven't heard anything... I am heartbroken. 🙁

don't give up yet, E! plus, no news is at least not a rejection. :luck:

Wow congrats jla and TrueBelief on getting in! That must feel like a dream come true. you guys definitely deserve it!

I'm interviewing this Friday and just feel incredibly grateful to have a shot at attending JHU. Anyone else coming on Friday?

can someone tell me about JHU's grading policy. Is it pass/fail first two years? what about 3rd and 4th years?

P/F year one & two.
H/HP/P/F for clinicals.

P/F is money. Having the 4-tier grading system during year 3/4 keeps the evaluative emphasis where it should be.

Just wondering... has anybody from the 10/1 or 10/2 interview group heard anything back yet?
