so if we haven't been rejected, does that mean we stand some sort of a chance? a good number of people have been rejected already...

Stand some sort of chance, yes, since they have already reviewed our application and decided not to reject us. I can't imagine it being that good though, since they've had some time to give us interviews if they wanted to, and there isn't that much time left.

I'm not crossing Hopkins off my list, but I've mentally prepared myself for attending other schools already.

my sentiments exactly.

Had totally given up hope, but just got the phone call from Dean Hicks! Accepted!!!!! :soexcited:

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Just got the phone call!! Speechless. I don't know what to do with myself.

Interviewed: 12/18

Good luck to everyone else!!!!:luck:

Hey Tikka36, when did you interview? Did anyone from the 12/5 interview group hear anything yet?

Just got the interview invite last week. I hope to be in the same class of the acceptees in this thread 🙂 Congratulation, guys

oh my gosh, this is so weird, but I know who you are!! (We were at the UCSF interview together--I was the MSTP interviewee whom you already knew.) The internet is a crazy, crazy place.

The waitlist for Hopkins will probably move much, much more than last year, so keep hoping, send them an app update/letter of interest as applicable, and I am sure it will work out for the best. Also at least you know... I'm waiting for Hopkins to get back to me and it's nerve-wrackinggggggggggg. 🙁

Good luck with this process!!

Thanks and best of luck! I'm sure you'll hear good news soon.

Is there already a facebook group for accepted students?
If not, let's get this started. If one already exists, let us know to avoid having two. Congrats!

On FB, search for:
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Class of 2014

Is it kosher to join multiple accepted students facebook groups? I have joined a couple but they are my top choices.. didn't know if this was bad form!

I did the same and simply left all others once I reached a decision. Personally, I wanted to have an idea of who my potential classmates were. I think that's a reasonable thing to do.

Would one of the accepted students mind emailing admissions to ask when the second look weekend is going to be scheduled for this year?

Thanks!

IM IN!!!!, I missed the call from dean Hicks, but got the email. Its funnny because i just watched the seven part Hopkins 24/7 series. Hopefully the money is right,

Congrats on all the new acceptances!!!!! I am still keeping my fingers and toes crossed for having the opportunity to join you!!! ...checking my phone every few hours... :luck:

Is there any way of knowing when the committee generally meets???

CONGRATULATIONS to all new acceptees!!!:claps:

🙁 That's the same weekend as WashU's. 🙁

AND Cornell(/Tri-Institutional MD/PhD)'s 🙁 🙁 🙁

I think for schools with overlapping second look weekends, just pick the one you're leaning more towards/more likely to matriculate at. I don't know if that helps lol

that is tremendously insightful. I don't think any of us could have figured that out on our own. Thank heavens for the student doctor network.

Just checked my mail... alternate list. Bummer. Congrats to all the recent acceptees.

Interviewed 12/5.

So I can say only about 150 have been accepted this year, much fewer than last year. That being said, there should be more movement on the wait-list than last year.

Buck to studying fungal infections.

um...they haven't even finished interviewing yet dude, obviously there are going to be more acceptances

ooor, if you're really torn... you could skip out early on one and try to make it to another (doable for cornell and jhu since mega bus goes between baltimore and nyc)

I've been told the committee isn't meeting in February. You might have already been discussed, but otherwise don't plan on hearing back this month.

what is their pre and post-interview acceptance rates?

Total admissions data 3920 applied, 758 interviewed, 268 were accepted, 118 enrolled
In-state admissions data 261 applied, 83 interviewed, 33 were accepted, 18 enrolled
Out-of-state admissions data 3659 applied, 675 interviewed, 235 were accepted, 100 enrolled
Women's admissions data 1752 applied, 378 interviewed, 137 were accepted, 59 enrolled
Minority admissions data 1592 applied, 349 interviewed, 119 were accepted, 39 enrolled
International admissions data 219 applied, 50 interviewed, 17 were accepted, 6 enrolled

Um dude, obviously. Like you know, whatever.

yeah actually you're probably right, they're not going to accept any more people even though there is still another month of interviews to go and 6 weeks worth of interviews that haven't had decisions yet

Thanks for the heads up! Dean Hicks told us to expect to wait for 8 weeks before hearing a decision, but I thought it may be sooner based on what I read on SDN from other interviewees in this cycle. I am glad you told me this because I have had my cell phone almost literally surgically implanted into my arm for the past week. It's starting to hurt 😉

....ah, the waiting game... Here's to hoping!

I was talking about wait list movement, not more outright acceptances. Sorry poindexter.

When I interviewed the first class to have the new curriculum had just finished anatomy, which I heard went kind of roughly. I heard the administration had been really responsive about fixing the problems. Could any current students elaborate on any other issues with the new curriculum and how the administration is planning to fix those problems? Also, does the new curriculum allow for any clinical rotations to be completed before taking the USMLE1/end of 2nd year?

Thanks!
