hi, im completely new to this forum, but i was in the exact same boat as thedoctor8706, (accepted December, got scholarship call Wednesday) and since no one around me got the scholarship call + my call got lost due to bad reception, i didnt catch the whole message...so, he pretty much just told us that he would send an official letter later on, and we don't need to send any documents until then?

Are they still extending interview invites here?

Loma Linda only interviews into March, so if they are still extending invites, it probably won't be for very much longer. I've given up on this school. My soul is too black for them. :horns:

it's a mystery... let me know when you get a letter or something explaining it!

Ahhh I sooooo badly want to go to Loma Linda. Dream school dream school dream school. No news since my late-January interview. Please show me some love, LLUSOM!!

Called the adms office a few minutes ago and was informed that I "will be notified by the end of March..." So, help me out people: Does this equal a rejection? - Seeing as I have NOT been extended an interview invite at this point?

I'm not totally sure, but from someone's comment up above it looks like they only interview through March. So if that's when you'll find out, maybe it is a rejection. I'm sorry!! But don't take that 100%, it could be like a "on hold, may interview later" notification...

I think I interviewed the same day. I'm waiting toooooooooo. This school is awesome.

Does anyone know when the next adcom meeting is?

I'm guessing the week of the 15th. If my memory serves, March 30th is the date by which all schools must offer at least as many acceptances as they have spots in the class. Hopefully this means a large round of acceptances this month since a lot of people are waiting to hear post-interview.

hey, kinda off topic, but, i heard that when applying for residencies, that Loma Linda Medical Center gives preferences to those who attended LLU (preference similar to that given to SDA's when accepting to LLUSOM). Has anyone else heard any such rumor? If so, would this imply that it is easier to get into a competitive residency (i.e. ortho, radiology), at LLU medical center if you went to LLUSOM?

I've heard this also, and I'm fairly certain it is true.

Yah.. that's what I figured too.. Well, lets hope we are both wrong! 🙄
Thanks for the input tho, much appreciated.

it's not sabbath until sundown on friday, so they should still be open tomorrow...

Has anyone who has already interviewed been rejected? Does LLU send out rejections in along and through or do they all go out at the end of the process?

Everyone here has said LLU waits to the last moment to reject ppl.

For those who have already interviewed, how many other interviewees were there that day?

mine had around 30. i was there in early february and havent heard anything yet

I'm interviewing on monday, what can I expect question wise?

Does anyone know if, and when, Loma Linda is having a second look weekend for accepted students?

Yep... the third Friday of the month is comming up... March 19th... :xf:

hey guys i am currently a 3rd year at llu.if you read last years class thread you would have seen that things looked a little bleak do to 15 students not matching and questions about whether we would get accredited. well this year has basically fixed all that.we got notice of our full accreditation (10 years i believe) last month.and today was match day and this years class was amazing.we got 3 people at harvard, 2 at case western, some at mayo clinic, a bunch at ucla, some at univ.of washington, some at brown, etc etc. and only like 2 people didn't match which is truly impressive. most importantly (to me lol) is that all 6 of the folks that applied to ortho matched and into dome amazing programs too. so i say all this to encourage you that llu not only trains you to be a great doc, but that you won't have to worry about a residency if you do your part.

To add to the news, one of the ortho matched people is a good friend, and that individual happens to be a female🙂 That is AWESOME news about a competitive field that usually favors men.

I hope that tomorrow will bring good news for those of you still waiting.:xf: Hearing Dr. Nyirady’s voice is a sweet treat.

Does anyone know how generous LLU's financial aid is? Do they award need-based or merit scholarships? Estimated 60k or so budget is kind of steep...

so i take it that no calls went out today?

Got the call today from Dr. Nyirady letting me know I've been accepted.😀

I got the call! Accepted!!! Yaaaayyyyy. Interviewed 1/27, Christian non-SDA from Alaska, 3.75 33.

Here's how the call went:

[my phone rings with a 909 number at 1:20pm Pacific time]
"Hello?"
"Hello, [name]?"
"Yes, this is she."
"Hi, this is Dr. Nyirady from the-"
"YAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!"
"Haha. Well I'm glad you're excited. This is an acceptance call to tell you you've been accepted to Loma Linda School of Medicine... but how did you know that?"
"Um... the internet..."
"Well I do make calls for other reasons. And I think people are often very disappointed when I do. But yes, you're right, congratulations on being accepted!"

HAHA I am NOT cool. Could not contain myself. 😀

Congrats to you guys who got accepted. Soon2, can I asked when you interviewed? I interviewed 2/25; how worried should I be that I didn't get a call yesterday?

I'm in a similar boat as you. I interviewed the wk before you and didn't receive a call. 🙁

Does anyone know when the last acceptances go out before the waitlist action starts? I had an early March interview and they gave no indication what to expect as far as a timeline.

The general answer we got on my interview day (in january) was that "some will hear in march, some in april, and some in may". So I think if you didn't hear from the first meeting after your interview, I wouldn't start worrying yet!

It sounds like maybe they accept some and see what they decide and then that opens up more spots and then they accept more the next month... but I'm pretty sure they will tell anyone who is interviewed by may what their status is, whether that means accepted rejected or waitlist...

it totally depends. i interviewed at the beginning of january, and they told us then that we'd hear, "by april." that was confirmed by my tour guide who had interviewed in early january and was accepted in mid-april. i assumed i wouldn't hear anything for several months. i was accepted just over two weeks after my interview. but, there are people from my interview group who still haven't heard anything. it's kind of mysterious.
