u cant get lost dude, the streets are numbered
Getting lost is half the fun! I walked from NYU SOM to the UN building, then cut over towards times square and just started walking up Broadway. I turned around when the walkers thinned out.
but that's how you know you're in a real neighborhood instead of a touristy one! don't turn around then! 😀
hey guys is mt sinai receptive to in the area emails?

I sent them an in the area email quite a while ago and received an interview invite about 2-3 hours later.
I'm already hating this month long wait for a decision, this is my dream school 🙂 By the way, this is more of a general question, but are most people just sending email thank you notes or cards too, or both? I think I remember one of the people involved in admissions said they prefer emails.
Emails. They just said to send emails, much easier.
Yeah, this is definitely my dream school too. They said sometimes around mid-November until decision, right?
They said 2nd-3rd week of November for acceptance or waitlist (via email). Rejections go out via snail mail and likely will not come until 3rd-4th week. I think the first acceptances last year went out around 11/13.
I'll be in New York relatively soon, and I wanted to send Mount Sinai an 'in the area' e-mail. I'm just not sure what to write. Do I specifically mention possibly interviewing while I am there, or is it more like, 'just wanted to let you know that I will be in New York on so and so dates.'

For Mt Sinai, I just told them that I was going to be in NYC from xx/xx-xx/xx and it worked.

Mount Sinai never sent me a "complete" email. I called in October and found out I was complete on 9/21.
I also recently sent an "in the area" email and got no response to that either. Of all the NYC schools the only one to respond was Cornell and that was just to say that they had not reviewed my file yet.
Has anyone else had that experience because I'm starting to think Mt Sinai has my email wrong or something.
Invite!
Anyone know how accommodating they are with rescheduling the date they offered in the email?
Admissions here is very flexible with rescheduling. They usually prefer phone calls so they can work out a new date with you over the phone.
When were you complete?
interview invite wheeeee 🙂
Congrats!!! 👍 When were u complete?
sinai doesn't send complete emails. they were very clear about that in the email you got when submitting the secondary. you have (had) to call on mondays or wednesdays between 2 and 4 for status checks.
and, not all schools are responsive to "in the area" emails... simple as that.
I submitted my secondary on 9/1, and I think I must have called at least once a week until they told me I was complete on 9/23.
Interview granted today for Nov 12th! Never got a confirmation that I was completed, submitted late july
hi all, two questions.
does anyone know how many people mount sinai interviews/accepts? and for those of you that have interviewed, what does the schedule for the day look like?
thanks!
no idea how many they interview. but they told us at the interview that "most of us" should get acceptances or waitlists, so i'm assuming they WL a bunch of peeps.
schedule: 8-9:30 orientation with the totally awesome dean of admissions; 9:30-11:30 interviews (2 30 min interviews somewhere in that slot, the rest of the time chilling with current students); 11:30-12 financial aid; 12-2 lunch and tours
806 interviewed, 379 accepted. (in 2007 at least)

The accepted number includes people accepted off of WL though, so fewer will be accepted outright.
Any Interview advice for this school? Heading there tomorrow (and not too many things on the feedback website from this year)
I had to push my interview out from mid Nov to late Jan. Will I basically be interviewing for the waitlist?
I know someone that received an interview invite early February, scheduled it for a few days later, and was accepted the week after with a bunch of merit aid, so she certainly wasn't 'interviewing for the waitlist'. This whole process is very strange and, in my opinion, impossible to decipher! Really hoping to hear back soon, Sinai's hands-down my top choice.
Couple more weeks before us interviewed people hear any news. This wait is killing me.
i called in today and talked to the people there. they said the admissions committee meets this coming tuesday (first meeting). people who interviewed early will hear next week, and everybody who interviewed by this week will hear the second week of november at the latest if they got in or were waitlisted
