Very good insight Reggie, I definitely agree. I hope positive answers come sooner than later and for now, the healthiest thing to do seems to be to keep one's self occupied with other things because of all human emotions, anxiety is the one without any use.

In terms of the anxiety, we are all in the same boat. And, it helps knowing that there are people going through the exact same thing that you are going through right now. Its so darn hard to concentrate at work or in life. I can't even enjoy an episode of Seinfeld anymore without thinking about the future.

We should form a union and demand that either they accept ALL of us, none of us will matriculate.

i wish that we get an acceptance... i think you will hear some good news Reggie, but still being on hold may not be the best position. there were also a good number of people who were on hold and ended up being rejected towards the first day of class.

as for the facebook page, i am not sure if also the people who have been accepted have joined the group. i know a good number of students who plan to matriculate to RFU, but still have not joined the group.

i agree with you.. it is a terrible feeling.

i am really sorry guys... i know im on the outside looking in, but this situation sucks. Maybe you should all send them an email reminding them that its June 22nd... its soooo late to have holds

I think Dean Ross is going to become a dean at a different medical school this year. It would be at the WVU med school. i dont think that it will impact the admission process though. we might hear something from the office within a week or two.

i think what they might do at the next meeting is probably accept those on the waitlist, and for those on hold put them on the waitlist. the only thing that will probably be bad, is that by now most people have chosen their school, and there may be less movement on the waitlist.

this just in.... waiting is still reeaaalllyyy lame. June 23rd and still no semblance of anything other than a hold... reaching a breaking point soon and quite honestly, this is ridiculous

i think what they will do at the next meeting is just move us up. so those on hold will finally be waitlisted and those on the current waitlist will get an acceptance, depending upon how many spots are available.

maybe all of us on hold should email and call them together and maybe it could make a difference with admissions.

im getting pst too chi....what is this? im sure that the dean resigning can have negative ramifications, but seriously, classes start in like 6 weeks

we might just have to accept that it is a rejection waiting to happen

we might just have to accept that it is a rejection waiting to happen

you're right on that. I just think its a scam that we paid roughly 100 bucks for them to lag horribly like this. No one forces us to apply, but med schools are all into integrity, and sucking up all this money and treating the applicants the way they do is a joke and certainly lacks integrity.

i'm prepared for whatever, but when looking at other schools and options, especially when this is obviously one I intend to go to if admitted, it is unbelievably annoying because it puts a lot of important personal decisions on hold, as I am sure it does for others in the same situation or those looking for jobs.

we might just have to accept that it is a rejection waiting to happen

thats what i was thinking too. it would have been better if they rejected us earlier though. im pretty sure they knew already whom to accept and reject even before those "committee meetings."

well, lets see whats next. i might do bms at RFU, how about the rest of you?

it seems to me the hold list is just another waitlist essentially. Why they call it that, I dunno except that maybe they can reject you off the hold list easier than the waitlist.

either way, if you're not in by now it's probably time to start using your energy to make other plans rather than b*tching about how unfair this process is and how mean CMS is.

I agree with Red10, unfortunately (although hopefully not for you all) it's time to focus on next year or a different path and stop dwelling on the past. I still hope my withdrawal will go to one of you. But apply next year, secondaries are usually given out in August. So it's about that time to submit the application.

hahaha.... i love when people removed from what other people are going through (which yes you are, because you are in)act all-knowing by looking down toward them and making ridiculous posts... I can assure you these people on the forum are making plans and getting ready for the future red... I highly doubt a ten second stop on the forum to air out a little frustration is going to jeopardize their future... Not to mention, I personally have found their comments to be an interesting commentary on the one-sidedness of the whole process.

Bottom line, these people are going through something right now and you really should keep your ignorance to yourself...

yes cause i've never been frustrated about not hearing from a school and I've never known the sting of rejection from a school i considered my top school after months of waiting in limbo. Now fortunately I've come out on the other side but that doesn't mean I have absolutely no perspective on what they're going through.

So why don't you take your own all knowing attitude and stuff it.👍

Okay lets stop fighting among ourselves. And, lets pray to God that the hold people on this forum get accepted into CMS and also lets have plans in case we don't. God Willing, it will happen

I apologize about my last comment red, congrats on your acceptance!

Does anyone have any advice on good phone services and computers to have on campus?

I have a Dell but I'm worried about the battery life because the outlets are few and far between.

I also have AT&T service but I heard that you don't get service indoors.

Any advice would be helpful

Thanks in advance!

as it is near the end of the month, we might hear something from the office. did anyone email the office?

Phone service is terrible in certain spots no matter what provider you have. I had sprint at the beginning of the year last year and it was fine in some areas and not in other. I switched to AT&T toward the end of the year (not bc of the lack of service from sprint) and the coverage was about the same. Others had verizon and it was the same.

I saw that you were on hold before...when did you get accepted?

It's Monday.
If anybody's heard back from CMS, it's be great if you could share it!

noperz... just guessing, but i think that they give people a couple weeks to get back to them so itd probably be two weeks since the last movement we heard of which is probably the end of this week.

although i like rfu a lot, the reality of the situation is that there are a lot of people accepted there recently that might go to other schools so that probably means they accept small amounts of people at a time every other week or so as people back out of their spots, another words, i would expect more movement compared to other schools as we get deeper into the summer.

good luck

ps- although i really think the tone was inappropriate by red earlier on this thread, it does serve as a reminder to make sure you are applied for next year if that is what you're up to.

when a person gets an acceptance offer, they usually give them about two weeks to choose whether to accept the offer or not. they probably do give a few spots every week, as the number of spots available always changes. and of course it is good to prepare for other plans like applying for next year. lets hope to hear something well.

Yeah but for some of us who are on hold, we have to make it past the committee meeting first.
I think the committee meeting might be this week because I had gotten the hold email at the end of every month so far except for the one on early June.
If I don't get on the waitlist this time (when other people do) then I'm reserving my MCAT seat and start looking for housing for this year and everything.

i also wanted to add that just one of us holds (post-waitlist being made) getting in would be a mini-victory for me

yea that really would be nice. it does seem like the hold and waitlist are the same thing, but it appears from the posts that those who received that waitlist mail have a better chance of acceptance.

For all of you guys wondering,I got off the hold list and put on the waitlist the 2nd to last adcom meeting. I then was given an acceptance the last adcom meeting on June 17th (Technically the acceptance was on the 15th). They gave me to June 24th to respond (last Thursday). So there is a pretty good chance they are deliberating tomorrow. Gasp!

Good luck all and I wish you guys all the best of luck!

yea, they prob will meet tomorrow and maybe email us with updates on thurs.
thats what i think.

and reggie, i think you might get accepted in this meeting.

I have T-Mobile and haven't had any problems. I heard AT&T gets bad reception in the RFU main buildings. There are outlets and extension cords spread around and under seats in Rhoades, the main lecture hall, you just have to find them (one is in the middle section, 4th row, on the left). Sometimes you will have class in the M2 room, which if I recall correctly, has an outlet under each seat. I think I heard that they wanted to put outlets under the seats in Rhoades as well.

Hey all,

I'm wondering if this is the correct place to ask questions about CMS and/or inquire about finding a roommate for the coming year. I will be an M1 there and I'm just curious as to WHERE I should be asking some of these questions. I already posted in the CMS/RFUMS Class of 2014 thread, but there seems to be little luck getting a response.

Hence, I'm curious as to: (a) whether or not this would be the correct (or maybe "more popular") area to ask some questions, and (b) if this would be the correct year (I assume it refers to those who applied during the 2009 - 2010 cycle...not those who applied during the 2008 - 2009 cycle in the event that 2009 - 2010 would be their first year as a medical student)

If I'm not in the "right place," please lend me some insight as to where I might be able to get some of my questions answered. I'm sure you have all likely figured this out by now, but I'm not going to ask anything specific until I determine where it is that I should be asking in the first place; this way I don't waste the time of myself and/or anyone else in the process.

Anyways, feel free to ask me anything and/or vent about CMS or the application cycle in general. I'm willing to help others even if I'm not necessarily in the right place when it comes to what I would like some help with.

Giddyup, and thanks in advance.
