My recs have been received by AMCAS but the status check on Tufts shows it as not being received. Anyone know why? Should I mail them the recs directly to them?
no its takes time after u submit the 2ndary for them to be recieved, it is not instantaneous by any means. Also even when they do get them, the status site usualyl lags behind a week or so. Remember you are not the only applicant 🙂. Everything takes weeks often. Also since interviews arent even out till sept, i wouldnt worry a whole bunch. Way ahead of the game at this point.

Basically your letter writers or school uploads your letters onto a system, AMCAS gets a notification that it's in the system and they go download it. Then AMCAS will load it onto their system and each school you designate gets a notification that they're available, then each school has to go and download your letters to add to your file. So it's not all automatic, somebody on each end has to go thru all the notifications and download letters for each applicant and add it to their file, so it can take a while. But it wouldn't hurt to send an email or call if it's been a few days.

What in the world am I going to write in the "additional comments" box ...

Any suggestions for what to do with the 'any comments' box? I can elaborate on my bad gpa some more .... or should i comment on the school? bah.

also, if you apply for a joint degree program and you dont get it, will they still consider you for md only? will your chances be hurt if you apply md/ma and dont get in but you still want to enroll as md?

Explain the GPA, and yes they will still consider you, and no it won't affect your chances (only the MD/PhD is a separate pool).

In that case, does anyone know what the essay topic is for the MD/MA program? I'm still not sure on it and just want to know what the essay is for it.

I'm applying to the Maine track, as I strongly want to practice rural medicine. I grew up in a town of 2000 in coastal WA.

does tufts have a 2 week turnaround for the secondary? i want to write about my medical trip abroad for the diversity question which means i can't submit until sept.

I wasn't aware of any deadline.

I know you guys touched on this a bit already, but for the extra comments section, would it be a bad thing to write something about "why tufts?"? I have been researching the website and found a couple of things that really stood out to me...if can't hurt to show them that I know a bit about the school right?

Definitely - don't go crazy with it, but make your points, clear and concise.

Got an email that my secondary was received and is going through the audit process.

Ya, just got it too. Another delay lol 🙄

Lol I always love it when I am browsing SDN and notice that one of the schools I applied to just got posted on. Sure enough when I check my email there is a message for me. 🙂

i just got the email too. i submitted on saturday morning.

i got the e-mail this morning too and i submitted at 11PM last night.

I received the email as well. Sent it in at the same time as ziggy.

what does the audit mean?

checking to make sure you fullfill the requirements and have a complete file or checking your work/activities?

If I'm not mistaken, I think it is the process of simply ensuring that they have received all your materials, and uploading your LORs. Something along those lines.

for the LOR, do u only check "individual letters" if u are sending in each letter separately? i go to Wash U and they like collect all my letters and send them to amcas, so in amcas i have all my letters under like 1 packet of letters. does this mean i check the "packet of letters" one?

If your school is sending a packet of letters to AMCAS for distribution and a school asks you specifically how your letters will arrive, then why wouldn't you check the option for "packet of letters" ??

This is my first time to apply out of state. I am a Texas Resident and all the Texas schools tend to interview before everyone else. When does Tufts start interviewing?

Last I heard, they are targeting end of August, but I bet things will roll into September.

So, as per previous posts, I'm not sure if I want to fill out the optional comments thing. Should I draw attention to the fact that I'm a reapplicant? Should I explain my MCAT score?

Final word? 😀 Sorry to be a pain!

i left it blank. i feel like unless you are burning to tell them about one of those things, leave it blank and just go with the diversity one.

(also, IMO, "explaining" MCAT scores is never really a good idea...)

sry if this is repetitive but i was wondering is the "optional comments" essay really optional?

I have covered everything i want in the primary and don't want to get them pissed off by sounding repetitive
