lol for real...its like that whole applying early thing really doesnt mean jack ****...if i school likes you it doesnt matter when you apply. They will find your app and invite you asap. Im starting to think that whole apply early thing is BS.sigh... It always makes me sad when people who were complete waay after me get invites and I haven't heard anything 🙁

seriously. I should have just enjoyed my summer instead of working to get these secondaries in within a day or two😡lol for real...its like that whole applying early thing really doesnt mean jack ****...if i school likes you it doesnt matter when you apply. Honestly, that's how I feel. I don't understand the benefits of applying early. I think of it like this. If I apply early, the schools look at my app early. And, supposedly, that's a good thing, since I am reviewed within a smaller applicant pool. The thing is, just who are the kinds of people applying early? Sure, a lot of them are going to like me: the average applicant hoping for a pot of a gold. But then, mostly, it's going to be the dedicated applicants--the ones who got everything under control since the first day of freshman chemistry. You know how it goes: super research, 6.0 gpa, 50 mcat...
Not to be a downer or anything...just my gut-feeling. Which is often wrong, anyway.![]()
I get the same feelings. I feel like I'm competing against the cream of the crop at this stage. Maybe appyling later would've been better.![]()
im getting the feeling early doesnt matter as long as you have all your secndaries in say by the end of august-sept...past that i would consider late, before that I would consider it who ****ing cares lol. I was verified 6/2 and got my 2ndaries around asap....and i have no interviews at buffalo, while people who were verified like 7/15 now have interviews lol. Its good to be somewhat early, but the whole difference between june and july seems extremly negligible.unfortunately i gone the late application route before... and wound up at interviews where they told all the interviewees that their class is full and that we're basically interviewing for spots on their wait list 🙁

Getting your applications in early is extremely important. I'm quite sure the first time I applied I was rejected because I was so late. People with similar statistics to me who went to the same undergraduate got into schools where I was rejected. The big difference was that they applied right away while I waited until mid-August and didn't get my secondaries in until mid-September.
And btw, Buffalo is ridiculously fast at rejections. My first time applying they rejected me within 2 weeks. I've had my application in for one month now and they still haven't rejected me so I'm guessing they're just interviewing people with good stats really early because they're trying to get their stats up. Something well known is that UB is trying very hard to become a top medical school.

maybe, like everything in this process, no one but the adcom truly knows anything lol. So we are just left to speculate and wonder and pray someone thinks we are good enough for an interview...then its in our hands at that point.Maybe we just assume incorrectly that schools look at applicants in the order they are complete? I don't think it's necessarily about numbers (higher numbers getting the first interviews), because at a lot of schools people with high numbers have not heard anything while others have gotten interviews despite the higher number people being complete for a while. Maybe they just assign the applications randomly to different adcom members regardless of the order received? This is just something I have been wondering...
for all of you who have been completed early, i feel they have made their decisions already ( good or bad) but are taking their time getting back to u ( for whatever reason that may be, who noes) . i was complete 7/2 and jsut like many of u, have felt shocked that people complete later than me have heard back while i haven't. to my surprise, i got an interview invite today for 9/2, which is a pretty early interview date. my point is, dont worry.
true its just hard when you see ppl on sdn getting like 7 interviews lol. I know it means nothing whether im accepted in sept or in june 2010, but it would be nice just to have the 1st one to take all the pressure off.I feel like optimism is dead on these boards. I'm from Buffalo and know alot of people that go to UB SOM and some weren't interviewed until March with 27 MCATs and still got in. Most people on their waitlist get in one way or another. Everyone just relax, if you're 28+ you're getting an interview one way or another.

How long does it take for you to be complete once you submit the secondary? I submitted mine 1.5 weeks ago, and the status page still says fee and secondary not received....
I am trying to do some research on UB SOM, but I can't find much information on their website. Do they have some kind of handbook? Has anyone else had much look researching this school?

What field of interest (what kind of doctor) did you enter for Buffalo's secondary app?
Does it matter what you put?
Application Year= 2010
Application Fee Received ($65.00)= Yes
Amcas Fee Waiver= No
Secondary Application Received= Yes
Application Complete= No
Current Status= NO ACTION
Filled this out weeks ago. Could I be 'incomplete' due to the school waiting for my second and final MCAT score? Other schools have said 'complete' even without getting them yet as they just released hours ago. If that's all it is then that is fine but I just want to make sure.
