if your status still says no action - buffalo states that they randomly review applications so it doesn't matter how long you've been complete for. i know someone who got in last year and she applied early, got interviewed late, waitlisted, then accepted some time in june. just wait it out and hope for the best! that's what i'm doing.

Just got accepted! Interviewed oct 21st-ish, waitlisted, got the accept letter today. From East Aurora, NY (outside of Buffalo), so I am definitely going. Good luck everybody!

Interview invite today (12/22) for Wednesday, February 3rd. I was complete on Oct. 26th.

Sweetness.

congratulations man. see you next fall

Accepted on the 22nd, interviewed approximately a month before. I'm a UB student and really like the school already so I'll most likely accept!

Quick question, when does the interview day officially end? I need to buy a return flight ticket.

It ends when your interviews end. Mine ended between 3:30 and 4.

on the day of the interview they'll ask who has a flight that leaves before X hour and they'll try to help you out by interviewing you earlier. however, your interview will still be between 1pm and whenever they call you. try to book your flight for after 4:30 just to be safe

Show me some love, please? 🙁

Anyone know if "in the area" letters work for Buffalo?

Do you guys know if Buffalo has student-run free clinics? Also, what's the curriculum like? Is it traditional with some PBL?

Yes, there are several clinics that students volunteer at that serve homeless or under-served populations. The curriculum is systems based (meaning we study neuro, hematology, etc, in separated courses) but we also have PBL and one of the cool things is we also have a lot of live patient cases where individuals with the diseases we've learned about come in to talk about their illnesses and treatment.

anyone know what percentage of people make it off of buffalo's waitlist?

the stats ive heard say 88-92% of the entering class is off the waitlist and 70% of interviewees are accepted on average

in terms of off the waitlist...there was a year when the entire list was accepted and a year that they only got thru the 1st third so it varies

70%? Is that really true. On eduers I read it was 35%. Whats your source?

Seriously Buffalo? August 15th..... still 'NO ACTION'. Arghhhhh 5 months...no big deal.

I'm thinking of canceling my interview but not sure yet. If I do, maybe it will go to one of you.

hi guys,

for those who already interviewed, did you receive info in the mail regarding your interview?

I have been waiting for a week and a half now and would like to have the info inorder to buy my plane ticket.

Can I just call Mr. Rosso and ask?

Is there student hosted housing?
How late does the interview day last?

Thanks!

why is it still no action for me? I submitted my application in July/August, the very first day. I find it extremely difficult to believe that they haven't gotten a chance to review my application. So no action means hold or perhaps silent rejection in my case?

no action means they didnt look at your file yet. if you don't believe me, you can email them. i'm still stuck on no action too

I definitely believe you - I've heard the same thing. However, I'm of the camp where if my file didn't jump out at them and they haven't looked at it by now (I was complete in Sept.) I don't have much hope. I mean Buffalo doesn't get THAT MANY applicants.

You have to go to the status page or wait for snailmail to find out.

Not that I don't believe you, I just find this very hard to believe. I mean I am in-state, submitted my primary and secondary both on the first day. It's very difficult for me to swallow the fact that they haven't gotten a chance to review my application. At this point, I assume most of the interview spots are taken and no action means silent rejection.

I was under no action for the longest time and was offered interview. So keep up the hope!

did anyone call yet to find out what third of the waitlist they are on?

BlueElmo,

Thanks for sharing, my question is when did you apply and when were you invited for interview. Waiting to get a spot, as things wind down, is a little different then waiting for a spot in the summer months. But thank you for being supportive!

I applied July and was offered interview in December. So quite a long time, so don't lose hope. I think it can still happen.

Last year, they received nearly 5000 applications and offered only about 500 or so interviews. Not a huge number compared to some other schools, but still quite a lot. You just have to sit patient.

I called today and found out I was in the top 1/3 of the waitlist. If you are waitlisted and haven't called back you can definitely get more info.

I think I remember them saying that like the top 1/3 almost always get accepted, and generally many of the middle 1/3 get in as well. Some years the rest of the middle 1/3 and the bottom 1/3 get in as well. Not a bad school to be waitlisted at!

Hoping to get off of it soon!

Hey everybody! I haven't been around much lately but I still have the "no action" status...sometimes I wonder if all of this is just a test of patience...whoever doesn't break down and lose it by the end gets accepted! haha...if only...

has anybody heard anything from this school as far as invites or preinterview rejections this year?

Botton 1/3 for me. Thats unfortunate I thought the interview went really well. They gave me about a 10% chance of getting off the waitlist. Its terrible news I really did love UB. Its starting to look more and more like that I wont be a member of the class of 2014.

So I keep hearing conflicting things. Does anybody know for sure if Buffalo got the the bottom third of the waitlist last year?

over the next two months the waitlist will have a lot of movement

there will be even more action when the may deposits are due

I believe most of the people who got in last year from the bottom third were in the bottom third around this time of year, but were bumped up to middle third when may deposits came due and a lot of acceptees pulled out, thereby letting in people originally top and middle third...i heard them also say some bottom third people got in anyway

Mr Rosso mentioned a year when every single person on the waitlist got in and a year when very few from the middle third got in so I think its too soon to make predictions about how this pool is looking, call back for an update in May and you should get a more accurate picture

From what I've heard, it reached the top of the bottom 1/3 of the waitlist last year. I think about half of our class came off of the waitlist, so about 70 students? I was waitlisted after my interview in Feb and was pulled off around April.

Do you guys think sending a letter of intent would help someone who is on the lower third of the waitlist?

the committee gives you the score that same day - it is this score that determines your waitlist position and this score will not change...not even if you retake the mcat and get a 45
