That's great news! That means the list will move a lot faster. Usually around the time they start this, they start to make you decide within the same day. He'll call you and you have until the end of the day to respond. Whoohoo!!!!! So, the people accepted and planing to go someplace else already will be a little less likely to accept, just because they have little-to-no thinking time. Good deal! Good luck middle 1/3's....hopefully they'll get to me soon! 🙂
 
Anyone who has been accepted already and gotten their acceptance paperwork-do they list for you somewhere what the first day is? I'm guessing August 9th, but I'm not positive, so I just wondered. Thanks!

Updated: Hopeful MD withdrew, changed the date they moved to the Middle Tier (our email says it was 6-2)
 
anyone know anything? too quiet on the western front!
 
my guess is that it will be quiet from now until Monday the 14th (which is when they will begin phone-calls for acceptances)...the reason i think this is that they just sent out a huge batch of acceptances from the WL--which is how we moved through the top 1/3 and into the middle 1/3-- and are probably waiting to hear back from those people (i'm pretty sure those acceptances were via status page followed by acceptance package in the mail). Snail mail is slow - so we should account for this. they are probably using this week to see how many people are actually going to take the offer or turn it down, so that they can move quickly through the WL beginning on monday with phone calls. Remember - Mr. Rosso wrote in the email that their class is full now, so it is going on a 1-by-1 case, meaning when 1 person withdraws, 1 more will be accepted...so it will probably be moving slower and slower as we get closer to the end of july as people will finalize their decisions.

Of course - I am just guessing all of this, so it is all speculation, but let's be serious - this is SDN...the majority of stuff posted in these forums are speculation! lol

anyway, good luck to everyone waiting - it's not over yet! 🙂

Just updating. Congrats!

Also-tennistycoon-I understand what you're saying, but I think that a lot of people who know they're going to decline will do right away and not wait until the deadline of next Monday. So, I'd expect movement this week too. They wouldn't just hold all those spots that open up this week until June 14th. They like to get things turned around as quickly as possible. It certainly is possible that there will be a bigger chunk on Monday though, just because it is the deadline, and some people may wait until then. Good Luck!
 
roller coaster of a week...got off of 3 waitlists (including buffalo and my #1 choice)...originally just banking on Buffalo, but now it looks like i'm going to be withdrawing my acceptance here!

hope one of you gets my spot! (how should i withdraw - i only know i was accepted through status page). Should I wait till I get something in the mail...or will I even get anything int he mail? I haven't received a phone-call or anything...maybe they will call Monday?

clarification - i didnt withdraw quite yet - i'm adding UB to my pro/con list - but so far it looks like I will be withdrawing.

More movement please!!!!!!

Does anyone know what the total loan amount UB takes out for you is? I know at the other school I was accepted to, they had a standard number for everything and they just automatically took that out for you. Gave you about 25,000 to live on for each year. (that was everything, room/board, food, living expenses, etc....) Just wondered if UB is the same way or if you have to submit a balance sheet or something specific for each person. Thanks!

has anyone accepted a waitlist offer and then rejected them? i hate how they only give you a few hours to decide. it's currently a toss up between buffalo and upstate in syracuse right now.

Congrats to all accepted!!!

I thought that accepting an offer at one school will withdraw all of your other acceptances automatically. Both ( Buffalo and Syracuse) are great, lots of my friends from Buffalo will be attending Syracuse in the fall. Either way, best of luck to those who have to choose and choose fast!!!

Just send a quick email or phone call. It does suck to have to decide in a small window of time.

I think if you just tell Mr. Rosso you'd like the max time to decide that's all you can do without withdrawing your acceptance from Upstate. Then, you have however long (until the end of the day probably) to accept or reject UB. Good luck with your choice!

I am sure there is still plenty of movement, but the huge increase in the FB group is most likely because someone just posted the link to the group on the listserv email that acceptees get.
 
Has anyone that was accepted after me gotten their acceptance packet? I got the background check and everything, but no acceptance packet yet.

things seemed to have slowed down considerably, and we're so close to the bottom third. Have any of the other bottom 1/3 waitlisters asked Mr. Rosso for their chances of acceptance. I called him and he said between 25-35%, which is a lot higher than I thought. I am wondering if this means that I am towards the top of the bottom 1/3 or if that is just a generic number he says to everybody on the bottom 1/3.

I'm in! But now I don't know what to do. Buffalo has been my post-interview top choice for a while, but I'm also feeling really settled and content at MCW. I have roommates, an apartment, forms filled out, ect. Have to decide by 9am!

Zarika-You have a tough decision(and I'm going to try not to be biased). I really don't know much about where you're from or what you're looking for in a school, but if you're really settled in to going to MCW, you really have to consider how easily you can let all of the arrangements go that you already have there and how easy it will be for you to find new arrangements so late in the cycle at UB. I don't know if you're going to be penalized for dropping your arrangements at MCW, but if you're comfortable there already, switching now might only cause more headaches than it's worth. Good luck deciding, let us know what you do!

Thanks LittleBun! I think some of that has to do with the type of student UB looks for too, they have an obsession with teamwork, and I'm glad we're all so supportive of each other here! Good Luck on the waitlist(s) you are on and in medical school soon!

Hey! Def. a generic number, I e-mailed Mr. Rosso and he told me 25% chance also "right up until August 9th".....That is pretty good chances though, I'm excited about it! 🙂 (plus, his numbers are low-ball estimates so that people don't get mad when they don't get in......if he told the middle 50% and they're all going to actually get offers, our chances are probably higher than 25%.) Good luck! Hopefully they get to us soon!
