haha congrats guju. This whole BU thing reminds me of this lyric:

I'm just fidgeting as I have got way past 60 days and still not hearing. But rumor is that schools are holding up interview invites until after 10/15.

Obviously it depends on the school, but I've gotten 2 interview invitations this week so I don't think this is true (no invite from BU yet though--complete 8/12).

The interview day was really nice. I had a good time. I think I like BU a lot.

You go to UWisc by any chance? Didn't open MD apps but saw your location. My cousin who got in when the class of 2012 people got into BU turned them down to stay in Madison at UWisc on scholarship.

It came down to the cost but if not for that he loved Boston since he did some ugrad research stuff there and research there after year 1 med school.

I do, I do. Madison is great and it would be hard to turn down that in-state tuition for anything. The school is phenomenal to boot. Ha.

Anyways..if anyone who interviewed today is in Boston PM me. I'm kinda bored.

woooooooooohoooooooooooo got the 30 day email.

Hopefully next step will be interview. I'm surprised I've not been rejected yet when I've heard from one of the MD admissions officers who is also in the division office for GMS as one of the heads of such, that many of her advisees from this past year were already rejected from GMS. I guess I'm a pessimist and didn't really think I'd make it this far even.

And congrats to the person who got an interview after sending the in the area email.

Sending good vibes out to all the SDNers who've gotten interviewed and the ones till waiting.

Congrats gujudoc! 🙂 Best of luck w/BU and the rest of your schools!!

It's been over a month since I got my 30-day email (I received it on 9/15) and I haven't heard anything since then. Hoping for good news sometime soon!

Good luck to ya! Such an awful waiting game...

Yes, I got my 30 day email on 9/10. I was complete on 8/11, and it seems like there is a big chunk of us with completion dates from 8/11-8/15 who are eagerly awaiting news. Except for one kid last month who seemed to be an anomaly, it doesn't seem like they've given out interviews for those of us finished in the 8/11-8/15 block... so here's hoping we might hear something this week! :xf:

arrggggg.... the waiting is killing me.... complete 8/13

Congrats, joe!

Like gujudoc, I would also like to know if anyone who got the 30-day e-mail did not get an interview. Some friends that I have got rejected 3 weeks in with waay better stats than me (3.67 cgpa, 3.7 sgpa, 33 mcat). I hope they're not just stringing me along!

I hope we're not destined for the dreaded limbo of SILENT REJECTION. Ugh, all that needless hoping until March...

I'm doing interviews at BUSM right now and I'm living in the Comfort Inn on Morrisey Blvd. It's $99 rate and totals about $116 with tax. They give free shuttle rides to the airport, the school and the subway. Not forgetting free breakfast and gym if you're a gym rat 🙂 Pretty good deal.

Yea, I hope we hear good news soon! I didn't even know about the 30-day thing until I logged onto this thread a couple of weeks ago.

I had almost the exact same stats and I got in!!!

Yes, there is no question, in my opinion based on my own and my classmates situations, that they would rather take a student with good, solid stats AND a demonstrated commitment to serving others, than someone with top stats who has shown no such commitment.

More than many (most/all) other schools, that is BU's thing.

I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot - 120 with tax from priceline (its $200 on their website) and had a complementary breakfast. No shuttle to/from school or airport though; but nice if you want to have a view of the Charles river and really relax on the day before your interview...is also close to Harvard square if you want to explore 🙂

I was surprised about the number of people on my interview day - ~45...very well planned day though.

I've booked the same thing for my interview, but for $75/night (comes to 90 with taxes) on priceline. I thought their website says they have a shuttle for the airport which you have to pay for but is obviously cheaper than cab. I should call and ask

EDIT: Just called and asked. They DO have a shuttle from the airport ($5 one-way) and offer complimentary shuttle to the medical school.

When did you get that price? (How far in advance of your reservation?) I'm only seeing the Courtyard for $170-something for early November. Boo.

I guess I made a big bet. So when I went there - a few days ago - they said there was absolutely NO SHUTTLE from the airport or to the school. There is a 5 dollar shuttle to the T-station (central square) which is about a 15 minute walk to the hotel. For the school, I took a cab (~$20) and from the school to the airport ($25). I'm not talking about the airport marriot but the courtyard by marriot which is right next to the Charles river...

Perhaps there are two courtyard Marriotts in boston? I'm staying at the Courtyard Marriott South Bay,Boston or soemthing, Google maps tells me it's an 11 minute drive from the airport, and 6 minutes to the school. I placed my bid on priceline about last week, and am going to stay there in early November as well.

Yeah we'll see what happens, just gotta be patient!

been seeing lots of interviewee groups coming through the anatomy lab, feel free to pm me with any questions you guys have about the school, or anything else really. you can get some "off-the-record" answers.

and yes, BU definitely looks at much more than just gpa/MCAT. I know a few people involved in admissions/interviews and they definitely look for candidates who will fit in with the school & hospital's mission and values, not just someone who wants to go to a "highly ranked" program.

Good luck to everyone waiting!

Yay! Interview invite this morning. Complete 8/11 🙂 I would love to go back to Boston! 😍

Got one too, yesterday afternoon 😍.

Complete 8/11. Have choice between two dates in the 1st week of November, if that matters.

33/3.8 for those interested in stats.

All the best for all still waiting and those who are interviewing :xf:.

Got my first interview invite from BU yesterday! So excited 🙂
I was complete 8/12, already booked mine on the 17th. Stats are 3.9/34.

hey all,

i got the complete email 8/31, and haven't heard anything since. i'm applying for md-phd. do any of you know what's going on with that program? i'm not sure if i should contact them.

Hey, for anyone that already interviewed here, what the interviews and interview day like?

Just checked my status online... and I GOT AN INTERVIEW INVITE!!!!!!!!! Complete 8/13. Scheduled for 11/10/2010. No email yet though...

Hey, for anyone that already interviewed here, what the interviews and interview day like?

Just interviewed here. It was a fun, but full day.

7:30AM Light breakfast as applicants arrive
8AM - Welcome session and presentation by Dr. Witzburg
9AM-11AM - Faculty presentations - students are shuffling in and out for their own interviews (mine was very relaxed, thorough, and conversational, with one ethical question at the end.)
11-1130 - Curriculum Review (missed most of this b/c interview ran over)
1130-1230 - Lunch with students
1230-130 - Tour with students
130-230 - Wrap up session/ Q&A with Dr. Witzburg

We were done by 3PM. Hope this helps.

Just got the interview invite today!

Complete 8/17, 30 day email on 9/16

for when can you schedule your interview? i was complete 8/23...hopefully in invite soon...

I was given the choice of November 1st, 3rd, or 8th....I chose the 8th. There's also an option to say that the date range doesn't work for you.

The dates offered to me were Nov 30 or Dec 1.

im really impressed by how their process goes like clockwork even though they have so many applicants. the 3-week/month/9-week, for rejection/email/invite trend seems to be holding up pretty well.

I got an interview invite yesterday. i was given nov 15, 17, or 19th. i got an interview at pitts on the 17th so i chose the 15th.

Dont remember my complete and 30 day email but I submitted 8/5

Interview party!! Complete 8/17; invite email today at noon! :woot:

so stoked for the interview! Dates offered: Nov 29th or Dec 1st. Hope to see some of you there. 😀

Hi guys!

I'm so excited! I got an interview invite yesterday 10/21/2010. It's my first med interview ever so I finally don't feel like a failure!

I was complete on 8/16/2010. 30-day notice was sent on 9/15/2010. My stats are 3.8/31Q.

I'll be coming from Canada for my interview on Nov. 19. Anyone else going to be there that day?

Kaushik, did you hear back and btw are you desi by any chance (indian, paki, bangladesi?) Cuz your name sounds like it.
Got an interview invite earlier today actually! Options offered were Nov 15, Nov 17, and "those dates don't work for me". Trying to decide if I should choose one of those dates and choose the doesn't work for me option because I have an interview at Wayne State on Nov 16th. Good problem to have though.

And yes, I'm Indian. 🙂

Edit: To those curious, I was complete on 8/16, received my 30-day email on 9/15, and got the invite today (10/22). So, it took roughly over 2 months from the time I was complete to the time I was offered an interview. Long time to wait, I know, but you just have to be patient I guess. Good luck to everyone still waiting for interview invites and to those who have received them or are in the post-interview period!

Hey guys, could anyone answer some basic travel questions for me? I'm sure they've been answered before but the search function didn't pull them up and 1,050 posts its a lot of reading 😀

Is BOS the nearest airport?
What is the best way to get from the airport to the University?
What is the travel time? from the airport to the university?
Is there a student host option that I've missed somewhere?
Do interview days consistently end at or before3:00?
What is the earliest outbound flight I could safely take after the interview?

Thanks to whoever can offer a hand 🙂
