60 day mark is coming up soon. I really hope I get an interview! Have there been applicants who made it to the 60 day mark but got rejected?

Holy crapoly, I have never heard it explained like that!!! Daunting.
While wondering how I possibly got in, it reinforces the notion that BU is looking among the vast sea of applicants for those with a particular set of qualities.
Being comfortable and interested in serving an underserved population would appear to be a critical requirement. I can't think of many (any) of my classmates who had not done some kind of work, particularly in a clinical setting, with an underserved population of patients, in the US or abroad.
No offense to some of you, but 3.9/35 applicants are a dime a dozen and there are plenty of schools that want those applicants. BU wants other stuff.
Frankly, as a third year, this med school has met and exceeded my wildest expectations. For those still in play, this place is worth the effort. I am working 10-12 hours a day in the hospital and 3+ more hours studying for the shelf. Totally loving it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hmm, if 3.9/35 are a dime a dozen, then what about 3.6/33? A dime a thousand?
has anyone who's applied mdphd gotten anything at all from bu? i haven't even gotten a 30 day letter and it's been much longer, i think.

Interview invite today!
Complete 8/23
So Excited interview on Nov 10!
congrats. complete 9/7. hope i didn't miss the boat.
So I'll be at 67 days tomorrow, but apparently that day has stopped holding meaning? I guess I'll see soon...
I got myself in trouble ... two weeks ago I booked my interview on 11/15, but I have to cancel it now because of a mandatory meeting that I did not know earlier. But BU can not give me any other interview spot this or next month ... the only available spots are after new year, and I think the chance of acceptance gets dimmer by then :-(
Moral of the story is, don't book your interview date unless you're absolutely sure you can attend. Rescheduling doesn't always work.
Meanwhile, anyone who wants to interview earlier might ask BU if there is a vacant spot on 11/15. I hate to waste it like this.

Personally I'd go in the november date to be considered with the december reviewed apps that get responses in january, granted its right after thanksgiving and may ruin your thanksgiving because you need to prepare for it.
Good luck. Oh and thanks for your help earlier today. 🙂
It holds! Interview invite today, on my 68th day post complete date! G' luck everyone!
Yea, I applied to MD/PhD also and I haven't received any news from them. I was complete 8/4...so it has been a while. I guess the MD/PhD reviewing is slower than MD only
the second floor is now where the interview day starts. On renovations. If you're here interviewing, you should walk up to the 2nd floor, which was just recently overhauled into new classrooms. A lot of people study there instead of the library, b/c each classroom has giant white boards and chalk boards to work on. And it also looks amazing. I dunno why they don't show the 2nd floor during interview tours.
Also, yes the library closes at midnight, but the med building itself is open 24 hours. So if you're a late-night studier there are lots of rooms to study in past midnight. I know this was a big deal for some people.
One of the downsides to the area is the lack of open food places late at night. But you can have pizza delivered to the school, great for group study sessions.
Very true. And yes i agree BU is a beautiful school except for the dingy med student lounge and auditoriums. But I think there will be a time when they renovate it in the future though there are no current plans. I say that because they already started last year with huge rennovations of the library. And a lot of schools these days seem to be renovating their buildings. So perhaps maybe if they get the money for it their next task will be to renovate the older auditoriums and eventually the student lounge.
But where it really counts, BU really excels. And by this I mean
1. Great faculty. I cannot rave on enough about the amazingness of the Course director for the spring med physio class. She is amazing. The course director for histo, both the GMS one and the med student spring class and she's very precise and systematic. Her teaching is awesome. She has little models to show things too made from things like toilet paper roles and sponges. I've never seen a teacher get that creative. There are others who are equally as great and people say the same about the clinical faculty who are medical students there. I'm sure slowbutsteady can attest.
2. Talent, diversity, and quality of the students who attend there. I saw so many very nice, talented, bright medical students there when I was there. Unlike some schools where it seems like ethnic and personal diversity are not really there though there are bright kids, BU seemed to pride itself in representing every race, every nationality, people with different experiences. I saw at their med student talent show one night that the kids were very not just academic robots but really talented in music and arts and singing and playing instruments. They were very creative and not just your typical cliche premed types.
3. Strong clinical opportunities and research opportunities.
Good luck to those of you who are interviewing. I hope it works out for the ones who really want to go here.
Clarifying some numbers (purely from memory, so please correct if wrong, but I think this is 80% correct)
600-700 will be interviewed pre-January. The committee will meet during the first week of December to deliberate on those interviewed already. They will take 100, reject 300, and defer 300 to review in March. From January to March, they will interview another 300-400 students, and they will take ~200 from this new pool of 600-700.
I thought Dean Witzburg was an absolutely fascinating speaker. At the conclusion of our interview day, he gave this little speech not selling BU, but about how we should look at the med school application process in general and how we should ultimately pick the school that we want to attend. It was truly genuine advice given not so much from the Admission Dean of a med school, but rather that from a trusted mentor or almost a parent. I think everyone present really appreciated his advice, and it gave us all something special to walk away with as we return to our homes and continue to face this battle until May. It's easy to see that he absolutely loves his job, and I truly do not think he has any sort of "facade" (as one person commented on the interview feedback?!).
To all the people interviewing, don't be scared to go up to him at the end of the day. He's super friendly! : )
According to this website seems like HALF of the interviewed people are likely to get accepted no..?

Why does it feel like I was the first one to not follow the general timeline? It'd be nice to at least hear something like either a rejection or an interview and not be left in the dark.
Complete 8/26, 30-day 9/25 and still nothing.
Sigh........
You are not alone pal, Complete 8/24, 30-day 9/23 and nothing but the dulcet tones of crickets.
