Hello everyone,

Does anybody know whether or not Case Western has started giving out MSTP interview notifications?

Thanks!

:bump: for Mr. Crabs.

Does anyone have anything to say on this?

The MSTP people have their own ecosystem to which I have no real access.😳

It's too true. That's exactly what I said after my interview. 😍 I hope the adcom feels the same way for you guys! :xf:
I'll be giving your tour tomorrow - look for an eggplant necklace 😉 And yay for non-traditional students! There are lots of us here. The diversity of the student body is amazing.

Mama Santa's is a decent price. If you want mind-blowing, Angelo's Nido Italiano or Trattoria are a step up in price (like $12-14 for lasagna i think.) but worth a splurge now and then. The eggplant parmesan is divine at both. And enormous portions.

Someone asked about free wifi - the entire Case campus has it, if you wanna walk around and chill in the library or a lounge somewhere like the BRB or a bench outside.
There's also a Starbucks right next to campus with free wifi. Most coffee shops have it too. A lot of people like Phoenix cafe.
CaseGuest is the network to look for on campus.👍 I keep hearing mixed things about Mama Santa, so.... I've never been there. La Trattoria is quite nice, though, for the investment. I definitely still need to try Nido Italiano.

Congrats TFS! 👍

I'm looking forward to giving my first tour tomorrow! See you there Engineer and Crisco! 😀
What, me? Crash a tour? Nev--count on it.:ninja:

I like how I know "who" my tour guide will be via SDN. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out which is me if you pay attention to my name 😛

Actually, I have no idea who you were! No one said anything to me about eggplants, so I'm assuming I had the other half of the tour! T_T Oh well, but now I'm super curious who you were! You at least saw me, I was the female tour guide with the shorter hair. (Myuu's hair is as a long flowing river.) The other guy also is an SDNer (who hasn't posted in a while...)

And to those whom we led outside, and the hurricane-like winds practically swept you away - I am SO SORRY! It was such a cloudless and beautiful day, I didn't quite expect that kind of sheer force. I felt like Piglet in Winnie the Pooh's blustery day. Your hair still looked great tho >_<

You know! I think I know the problem. Me and engineer were there for the CCLCM part 😀 So we would have seen you guys at all 🙁 I'm so sad though

AAAaaah that makes sense! I didn't know the CCLCM did interviews Fridays. I hope your interviews went great! 😀

Just wanted to wish all the applicants good luck. I know I know I haven't updated my blog or signed onto SDN in ages but I'm having a great time at CCLCM and will be writing an entry and will post it soon as a summary of the summer research block. The real fun starts on Monday for us with anatomy and cardiology block.

vc7777 hope you're having a good break! will see you in a couple of days

CC! Hey I'm at kalahari waterpark in sandusky for child #3 bday! Will be in town in the morn. How's that Cards homework looking? Hope you had a great time off too!

EDIT: I hope my books for cards were delivered on time to my apt. I planned on getting them the week before - grrrr 🙁 I have a sneaking suspicion they weren't delivered this week! I might be calling around frantically tomorrow to borrow books if they're not there!

So I saw that someone will be representing CCLCM will be at the big UCD AMSA conference on the 9th/10th, does anyone happen to know who will be there? I think it'd be neat if I got to say hi to Dean Franco or maybe one of our great SDNers again. 🙂

I Auriga, I was in the other tour group and we went through the wind tunnel as well. I had a great time! Do you know if we should send thank you emails to any of the interviewers or deans? Have a great weekend!

Hey Auriga, what's it like have a child in med school? Is there a good/affordable daycare on campus? How do you manage your time with studies?

Sending "thank-you"s is always a nice courtesy. Especially when you consider that many people volunteer their time to admissions activities.

I personally sent quick emails shortly after my interviews. Partially because I didn't have direct mailing addresses. Partially because most people check their email obsessively and will confirm that it was received - which is nice to know.

Uh...unless you are referring to me being Auriga's surrogate stepchild due to my infant-like maturity....

Ooops, I totally meant you! Sorry, I was thinking one name and typed another. You know what' it's like....when you're at the grocery store and you reach for the whole canned tomatoes and accidentally grab the gross pureed tomatoes.... kinda like that 🙄

So...which am I? Puree or just stewed? Be careful... :meanie:

Hahaha...sorry I knew what u meant but I did hesitate for a brief second, thinking maybe I was wrong!

My oldest started kindergarten last month, and beyond that the details are...messy. and difficult to txt on my teeny tiny keyboard. I can share details if you PM me, sometime!

First time posting on this tread or during this application cycle for that matter but have been lurking since early June (I know, shame on me). But was really (REALLY) surprised to get an interview offer for both the College and University track on Friday!

Wanted to post my timeline for people who are still waiting:
Complete: 8/23
Interview invite: 9/24
Scheduled to interview late Nov/early Dec

Good luck to everyone. 🙂

And also, thanks to the regular posters for the advice and the entertainment!

Interview invite at both programs!!! I've never posted about an interview invite before but Cleveland is my top choice so I'm really excited.
I hope I'll be able to show them on interview day what a good match I think we are 🙂

I'm glad you enjoyed your interview! As for me, I sent thank you notes to both my interviewers. To the professor, I sent it to him via the office of admissions. Not sure in retrospect if that was the best way to do it, since I'm sure they already get more mail each day than the US post office can handle in one truck. I sent an email to my student interviewer, since I felt that would be easier for both of us and she was supercool and offered to answer my questions ^_^

Yeah, vc is the one with kids. I am married, though, and it's sometimes a bit of a difficult thing with time. But Case's schedule is very open so that you can create your OWN study schedule. We're out by 12 almost every day, and have only one evening a week right now, so it's very feasible to maintain a normal life outside of school. I try to (note the word TRY, not succeed at) stay up here until like 5 or 6 on a daily basis and treat it like a 8-5 job. Then I have my evenings. This isn't working that great for me, since I tend to start chargin mah laser for efficient studying later in the evening and prefer to chill a bit after classes...but it's a work in progress. The important thing is that you can make things happen with this schedule. At least for this part of the game; when it comes to clinicals and residency, that's another race entirely.
Uh...unless you are referring to me being Auriga's surrogate stepchild due to my infant-like maturity....
ohhhhh now THAT is a precious picture!

I learned it's actually Nido Italia. And yes. You need to come with me this weekend. Give me an excuse to go again >_< You down, vc7777777777777? SurrogateMommyAuriga requests your presence XD
And also, thanks to the regular posters for the advice and the entertainment!
We are always good for at least a bit of entertainment. Can't go wrong with the MyuuVC7777Auriga trio. Especially if you add a bit of CCLCMer as garnish. 👍

And congrats DrTica and MaVieenRose! Lurkers that emerge are always welcome 😀

Anyone who's interviewed, was 4 pm pretty accurate for when you got out?

For CP or UP?

From what I rmr, I was able to get out of UP fairly early because I scheduled with the secretary before hand (I had a 5 PM flight). So if you do have a concern about a flight for a UP interview, I would talk to them- they will get you out on time.

I think CP ends fairly late though... don't quote me on it... its been a year 🙁

Sooo has anyone else interviewing at CCLM not taken biochem yet? (Or who interviewed last year and got in? 😛) I got an email today saying I still need to take one year of biochem + lab, but the website only says "A course in biochemistry that includes metabolism is required of all applicants prior to matriculation." I work full-time at a large university, so taking a biochem class would be pretty easy...but a year's worth + labs seems a little daunting. CCLM is pretty much my top choice at this point, so it would be a huge bummer for it to not even be an option just because of biochem. Anyone else in a similar situation?

Wow I haven't received that email. I thought it was just one semester, which I was going to take online, because I really want to go to CCLCM, as well.

Yeahhhhh. They'll probably be receiving a call from me in the next few days.

UP, actually. And thanks! I guess I'll be giving them a call. I have a interview megatrip of doom that week.

Im STILL waiting to hear back. CCLCM is my number one school. I interviewed last year but didnt get in. I applied earlier this year so i could hopefully get an earlier interview. I have been complete since July and watch all the april people get decisions...what's wrong w my app? Is it because I applied to both the UP and CP cos i already heard back from UP. Any feedback, please?

Call them if you think something is legitimately wrong (i.e. file still not marked complete). Otherwise, many of us have heard from CP and UP already. You may just be "oh hold" for a bit or something of similar sort.

🙁 sorry about last year.

Were you able to talk to Dean Franco after last cycle to see how you could improve your chances? If you've made some kind of primary connection with her, I'm sure she'd be glad to talk to you again in regards to your status.

Is that what the email says verbatim?

As a CCLCM student- I was admitted having only taken one semester of biochem no lab.

The quote from the website is verbatim. The email reads:

"Thank you for your application to our medical school track. While reviewing your file we noticed that you have not had courses in the following:

- Biochemistry (One year course and lab)

Please note that the course(s) listed above is required for all students matriculating to the College Program. Applicants can interview before fulfilling the requirement, but must complete the course before matriculation. Let me know if you have any questions."

Why don't you call and see? I didn't realize that that was the case this year.

I didn't either until I got that email 😛 I'll probably give them a call tomorrow and see what that's about.

I did. She said i should improve on my interview skills. One would think with that advice they would give me an interview to see if I have, cos trust me, I have imporved tremendously
Oh well fingers crossed, I stay faithfully waiting for cclcm

^-^ I'm sure you have.

Why don't you send her an email letting her know of your continued interest and your hope to be a member of the 2016 class? Also perhaps tell her what you've done to improve your application as well as your interview skills.

I definitely still need to try Nido Italiano.
And you do. Need to. With us. Friday night, if that indeed does also work for a certain fork-wielding egpplant. And any others who feel inclined to join!

I have no pertinent info to pass on to the previous good questions. But I agree, sending a letter about your changes during the last year and including stuff since when you submitted wouldn't hurt, especially since she herself told you that you needed to work on your interviewing skills. I don't want to swear on that, though, since I don't know what they think of letters prior to interview invites, but I'd be inclined to suggest trying it.

Everyone on this forum is always so informative (and helpful!)
so I figured I will ask...
How exactly did you prep for your interview?
I have gone over my AMCAS and secondary application, but is there more to do? I am now starting to get nervous since it's in 2 weeks!

Thanks in advance!

Well, it is like medical interviewing - it is something best practiced...if you can do a full dress rhersal - meaning interviewing in the same clothes you will wear and preferably with a stranger (maybe someone in your premed advising office)...and of course check out the interview feedback pages at the top of this page on sdn...that's a goldmine for actual "flavor" of interview questions that have been asked in the past

Update on the biochem confusion...Got this email today:

"
Please note that a lab is NOT required for Biochemistry as indicated in the previous email. “A course in biochemistry that includes metabolism is required of all applicants that matriculate.”

I apologize for any confusion..."

Still unclear as to whether that means one course or a full year.

I believe it's one course. As in one semester. I think they just accidentally copy+pasted the biology info onto biochem when sending the email. Kinda wondering why I haven't been sent the email yet lol.

At the UP, at least, it's a single course.👍

Hey Everybody!

I am interviewing Monday for UP! I am very excited, and VERY nervous. It seems like the interviews have been pretty relaxed so far, but I have heard that the interviews can be intense at Case. Any advice? Also, I am sure that this information was posted somewhere earlier in the thread, but my browser is just not loving the search function at the moment...but what are the app-interview-acceptance-matric. rates for UP? Again, sorry for re-requesting information!

I can't wait to interview, I hope to see some of you there!!:xf:🙂
