Anything fun going on at Case this week? I'm flying in Wednesday 9/22, interviews at UP and CP then out Saturday morning. Would be awesome to meet up with some of you guys or anyone else interviewing.

They're having fun sending out rejections...just got one at CCLCM. Fortunately picked up the interview at the UP but the CP dream was shot down hardcore.

If you like beer and bar food, I would recommend the Winking Lizard in Coventry. If we get a group and I have magical freetime, I can even join you and work on my tour (Thursday is cheap burger night). Maybe the medical students have more insight in fun things around CWRU. 🙂

Let me know what you guys decide to do. I'll try to join you! I missed out on what the folks from today/yesterday were doing, but I might have a few extra minutes on Thursday.

As for fun things around CWRU, honestly I haven't gotten around to them much! Entirely my fault for taking so long to settle in and now after feeling a few omgwtf moments and realizing I need to kick my game up another notch.

Nonetheless, I've also rediscovered that I can ride a bike, after rescuing mine from my father's house before skipping town. We picked up another bike so hubby and I can trek. The parks here are aaaaamazing and full of adorable chipmunks, birds, and deer.

Not at all, but you may have trouble finding a student host, as a number of people may be just coming back in that time frame.😳

I think they prefer that you turn it in within 2 weeks, but I'm not sure if that's so important.
I had mine for close to 4 weeks before submitting.

Landed in Cleveland earlier today and have been exploring the area. I gotta say, Cleveland Clinic is an awesome looking hospital inside and out. Area seemed nice and safe too (during the day at least), although my shuttle driver told me I'd get killed if I went outside after 11 haha.

I've been complete over a month and haven't heard anything from either program (letters were the last thing to get in)...seems sort of strange, since they've been interviewing and rejecting people. Anyone else have this experience?

So...for those interested...1st year 10-wk summer research block is coming to a close. I just had my presentation for my research today. I think it went well - in spite of a possibly broken toe. Honestly, I was planning on getting into a running groove for the Cardiology block, but I think that is now on hold! 😀

The end result is that I am now a (sorta) free soul for several days! The Second Years have this week off, and us First Years will be out of town next. Breaks are a wonderful thing!

Wow that seems really early. Curious, people who recently got invited for a CCLCM interview, when were you able to schedule? I wonder how late in the season they'll continue interviewing people.

Also, this school is even more impressive in person than it is on paper. The interview day was amazing!

I got interview invites for both programs about 1 1/2 weeks ago. There were plenty of dates scattered for the UP, but not so many for CP. I had to schedule mine in Nov. because that was nearest back-to-back date.

Good luck applicants! I think its crazy that we aren't even 1 week into the interview season and u guys are saying it's all over! I would caution you guys to not speculate on when the CP application season ends!

Totally agreed. CCLCM was awesome and I really enjoyed my interview with Dean Franco. UP was definitely awesome although I still like the CP a little better lol.

I dunno if it's so much speculation as it is piecing together information we've been given (interviewing ~250, already invited ~200).

hahahaha I saw that! I approve wholeheartedly. Looks like he's going at it with a fork. 👍

(I put the NC1701 flying into Capella in my avatar on a whim, amusingly right before the Star Trek TNG discussion popped up in the spring, and then never got around to taking it back out. I figured a change was overdue. +1 to you vc7777 for being so astute!)

So I've stepped over the edge of the crevasse of nerdery - I now own an eggplant necklace that I found for a few bucks. I will now be easier to spot when I give tours 😀 Like next friday!

Yeah, there is a status update - it says that they've decided to put me on hold for future consideration.

The word "hold" is unnerving, but don't lose hope. They're going through a maddening number of apps right now - if they've put yours aside rather than reject immediately, that means you caught their eye at least a little. I became intimately involved with another version of the Case word "hold" for almost 5 months last Spring, and now I am snuggled in the Cleve drawing out the zillion developmental steps of embryonic tissues, and periodically procrastinating on SDN. Talking with Dr. Mehta and Christian, I realized that they REALLY put a ton of effort into constructing the incoming class. So a hold can genuinely be a good thing.

The first and second years all have class that Monday, so they should be there. I, on the other hand, will be on a tropical island somewhere. Or something. 😎

No, that's not what it means. It's true that they're only going to interview around 200-250 people, but they will send out way more invites than that. Not everyone will accept their invites, and some people will schedule and then cancel.

It's still really early in the season, guys, so everyone needs to take a deep breath and back away from the computer slowly. Interviews continue until February, and there will be more invites coming.
