:ninja: This feels like an empty victory...

Hilarious!.....but also in violation of SDN regulation, Chapter 17, section 7, paragraph 3a, where it clearly states the prohibition of posting 8 times in a row in general, and in particular with intention of gaining advantage relative to posting the top spot on the following page.

Following subsection B of the same section, the top spot is awarded in random fashion by drawing a name out of a hat. Just happen to have one here, a Browns stocking hat from lost and found, so letseehere, yep, got a name, and it's....it's....wow! It's MYUU!!!!

Congrats to Myuu! VC.....thanks for playing, we have some outstanding parting gifts for you, including a case of Campbell's mushroom soup, and a kidney shaped swimming pool!!

Oh, hmm. I don't remember seeing anything in the TOS about that, but clearly I must've read over it.:meanie:

I forgot to ask if that came included with adrenal kiddy pool...

Folks, I talked to Dr. Franco today re: the tentative schedule for the next round of acceptances at CCLCM:

1/11/11 (easy to remember) the full committee makes the next round of selections for the next group of acceptances. However, because of scheduling/coordination with the UP, the phone calls may not go out for two weeks after that date.

Thanks for the update, vc7777!

(i'm still hoping too!)

So, I'm a constant visiter, although not constant poster, to these boards, and I have a question for all of you extreemely helpful CCLCM students ( I apologize if this is long).

When I was originally invited to interview the earliest date for CCLCM was early october and the earliest date for Case Western was mid-November. I scheduled the earlist date for each because CCLCM is my number one school and it was worth coming out to Cleveland twice to give myself the best possible chances for CCLCM. However, the lovely (not meant sarcastically) people at admissions called me because they noticed the time gap and were concerned that I would have to travel out there two times. I explained the situation and they checked for me and assured me that it wouldn't hurt my application in any way because the comittee doesn't meet until december. However, it looks like that still put me in the second batch of applications that are reviewed in January. Unfortunate.
My question for everyone is how I should procede from here. Obviously I don't plan to complain or anything to anyone in the admissions office. I'm just wondering if there is anything else I can do at this point to express to this school what a good fit I think we would both be?

If you interviewed in November, then you may have been reviewed for the December batch. Those of us who were not accepted in December don't know whether we were waitlist/rejected yet, so you don't know for sure if you missed that review.

There isn't much you can do at this point. Really, you need to wait until the committee has made a decision on your application. Obviously, you expressed your interest in the program when you came/will come for interview.

Besides updates on your grades/publications/awards etc. there is not much you can do. I would not send a letter otherwise. But that is just my $0.02.

:xf: Good luck at the next meeting.

Oh I only said that because they told us at the interview that we won't know until January. lol I'm def not conceited enough to think that no acceptance means they must not have reviewed my file. Although, on that note, do we know when they notify with rejections/waitlist ?

Does anyone know when decisions start being made about post-interview holds?

I'm also curious about this...If I get in to CCLCM 😏 (long shot) I still need to take biochem, and I'm running out of time to do that :/
I should probably try to take it somewhere just in case (heh), but I'd rather not fork over the money/time unless I have to.

Doc Opera rehearsals are in full swing! If you're in the area on Saturday, you should come check out the show!

Here is a question:

Do you have to have research in order to be a "competitive" applicant to CWRU?

I am the amenuensis for d son applying to current med school cycle (beginning med school 2011). Not that he knows about my self appointed amenuensis role! Ha. Son currently doing well in MS program in Anatomy (1st year) at CWRU. Will it be held against him that he is in 1st year? Will they expect him to finish it before beginning med school? Can he do 2nd year Anatomy concurrent with med school at Case? Do you think that would hold him back at any other medical schools? He hasn't heard much from any and has competitive MCAT scores/grades. He has heard nothing yet about an interview at Case. Should I be panicked? Finished secondary end of Sept. What is to be expected now? I see the spots filling up on MD applicants.com and hope to get some specific CWRU feedback here. Best, and thank you in advance for any insight. 😕
He has applied for both CC and UP programs, btw.

I'm so sad I missed it. 🙁 Although we got to see videos of a couple of the skits. Any chance the show will be recorded / youtubed?

I'm signed up for Biochem (400-level) at my university next semester and if I don't get into cclcm it'll be a huge waste of what could be my most enjoyable (as in, not super stressed out due to 6 science/engineering classes and 2 labs) semester of college spent instead studying for a class notoriously rife with gunners. Hopefully they get back to me in January and I don't have to keep hoping for February lol. (...probably won't happen)

I'm interviewing here Thursday and Friday and I'm excited to see doc opera! My in-laws have been telling me how great it is for years.

They do tons of pre-interview rejections. They only hold onto apps that they think might be really good fits, and immediately interview those that they are particularly excited about. Acceptances go out to those who they are certain of, and waitlists go out to those they love but need to do some more juggling of the class before they're sure about. I am of the latter, and proof that they do indeed move their list along throughout the season - and onwards until the day before class (one of my classmates got the call the day before and switched schools to come here!)

Funniest post of the week goes to vc7^4 for this random form from who knows where, used in the best possible setting outside of whatever its original purpose was. Bravo, sir.

1. I feel as if called out to answer this one, as Capella is my alpha star  (astronomy nerds, anyone get that?)

2. I will let those who have actual knowledge of the anatomy masters program speak to its difficulty in its second year, and how it would work to do it alongside regular med school coursework.

3. From what I know, this is one of the few masters degrees that people complete DURING medical school WITHOUT taking another additional year (either between 2nd and 3rd year, 3rd and 4th year, or taking a 5th year) to complete. Masters degrees in public health and bioethics generally require that additional year. So, yes, it is possible.

4. Whether it will hinder his application is another question entirely. I doubt it. But I have no real knowledge about it. Except that there are like 15-20 of my classmates in the Anatomy masters program right now.

5. Has he been checking his iapply account? That is where he will receive his communication, not all is sent via email!
Otherwise, not hearing anything from Case when his file is complete since September might warrant him making a pleasant call to the office of admissions to ask them if his application status has been updated, or if they would like additional information.

I would definitely NOT contact them yourself, on his behalf. Gathering info for him here is nice of you, but if you intervene in the actual application process/interactions for him...not so good.

6. Now I have a clue what an amanuensis is, thanks to you and webster's online dictionary. I'm assuming he's not sitting there dictating to you, though? 😀

Oh it WILL be recorded, and it will inevitably end up youtubbed as well. At least chunks of it will. And it will also be replayed repeatedly at the admissions office for interviewees to see next year ><

Wow. I hope so too! Though the worst CASE scenario (lol) is that you are exceptionally well prepared for Block 3 (in which I am attempting to swim currently) and for the intensity of med school. Then, enjoy your summer with some sort of massively awesome vacation OR other form of fun, including but not limited to: sleep, video games, and frisbee.

snowing so hard in cleveland that the whole first class is next door having dinner. Roads jammed. we are having fun. This the where being a small family-like school is awesome.

not sent from my cell phone 😏

want.

We made snow angels and are having Lebanese food as a group. Literally half the class is here.

Not sent from my cell phone 😏

Im stuck in the G bldg of the clinic and I want some Lebanese food. Never seen traffic like this in Cleveland before 😱.

Some of the skits will inevitably be youtubed. The songs/dances usually aren't, though the DVD will surface sometime in the spring.👍

If you are in a masters program, especially one here, you are generally expected to finish it.

I'm interviewing here Thursday and Friday and I'm excited to see doc opera! My in-laws have been telling me how great it is for years.

Oh, you'll be here for the weekend? Awesome!

Does anyone know when CW interviews until?
The university program interviews until March.

I love wintertime in Cleveland! It feels good to be home 🙂

Oh, you'll be here for the weekend? Awesome!

Yup, my in-laws are letting me stay with them while I interview. My wife will be coming up on Friday and on Saturday we'll be going to Doc Opera.

I've been following this thread for a while. I've been too busy with school and work to post anything. It's been great reading all the comments about both programs. I'm excited to have interviews with each program!

Thank you so much for the prompt and direct answers. Btw, I wouldn't think of calling any admissions office on his behalf. Well, I might think of it (ha, ha) but I would never actually make the call. I spell Cappella with two p's and two ll's because of the musical connection as opposed to the stellar connection.

I don't think I ever told you my Astronomy nerd credentials did I? I may have seriously considered becoming a planetarium director once! :meanie:

Here's some proof:
