Are there by any chance shuttles to Lakewood for Doc Opera?

On another note, do we know what the acceptance rate after interviews for CCLCM is? From 2010 stats, it seems that for UP it's 496/1244 ~ 40%, how about CP? That's probably included isn't it... any way to know what it is separately?

There is a shuttle, but you have to buy a ticket for it. Also, it only takes you to the show and to the afterparty--not back.

I'm almost sure you could--I'll ask for you.

Ah, spoke to soon. They're not selling shuttle tickets tonight. If you drop me cash at some point, I can pick one up for you. You are, of course, welcome to come to tonight's rehearsal anyway!

I was marked complete at Case a little over 2 months ago, and I still haven't heard back from the UP yet. Is this normal?

I also applied to the MSTP so I'm inclined to think that that committee is taking its time, but of course that's just a guess...

If you don't mind asking, where did you get this info? I'd like to know since MSAR doesn't include the stats for number of acceptances given out.

No clue how trustworthy this is, but I got it from here: http://www.medicalschoolsinusa.com/

And for those who care about stats, I found out today and it seemed like for CCLCM it was (and these are very rough estimates because I didn't write them down), 200+ interviews for 32 acceptances (+ some 10-15 people on the waiting list which has decent traffic).

Also, found a ride to Doc Opera. I'll be there ^_^

Oh, yea. I know that website. Just fyi, the website only shows the stats for 2008 admission. So I thought u had a recent one haha

Oh... oops. See at first it says "Fall 2010 Admissions Information" and then after that it presents 2008 stuff. Tricksy. Sorry about that.

Hi BostonFan,

I applied to the MSTP and CCLCM; I heard back from CCLCM a loooonngggg time ago, but the MSTP took a very long time in reviewing my application, probably just around the time frame you are talking about.

I wouldn't lose hope.

What you can do is also just call them up to see what your status is; the MSTP people are really friendly.

BTW, I will be interviewing at Case Western for the MSTP on 1/27 (Thursday) and with CCLCM on 1/28 (Friday). Hopefully I will see some of you guys there! 🙂

I love wintertime in Cleveland! It feels good to be home 🙂

Yup, my in-laws are letting me stay with them while I interview. My wife will be coming up on Friday and on Saturday we'll be going to Doc Opera.

I've been following this thread for a while. I've been too busy with school and work to post anything. It's been great reading all the comments about both programs. I'm excited to have interviews with each program!
Hope to see you there! Doc Opera is going to be AWESOME. It is genuinely so, so fun to be a part of it.

So! Come see Myuu rock out in a neon wig in a Shiny Toy Guns song! 👍

As for myself, I'll be singing and dancing with the Deans in the faculty dance...😱

biochem21 dances in a couple of songs, with amazing vertical clearance (srsly...kangaroo kin) 😀

And dntpanic, a bona fide theater pro, runs lighting and a multitude of vital things to keep the gears moving. 😎

Hopefully this emoticon enhanced list is tantalizing enough to lure you in if you're in town.

I don't think I ever told you my Astronomy nerd credentials did I? I may have seriously considered becoming a planetarium director once! :meanie:

Here's some proof:

Ad astra per aspera, my dear friend. 😉
Fabulous. I see that you're researching greys along with your astronomy...interesting. Does it tell what galaxy they're from?

I just realized something. I look forward to checking into this thread as much as I like reading my favorite comics, Dilbert and Luann! You guys are amazing and fun!

Thanks crab! I'll try giving them a call on Monday.

While the videos of the songs won't be up for a while, the occasional skit surfaces. Enjoy!

omg, these are brilliant. <3 I'm sad I didn't get to meet Dr. Mehta on my interview day, she seems like a lot of fun.

So imagine my surprise, when I got invited for an interview (I only applied to the University program), particularly since when I receive an e-mail that says a decision has been made - I immediately assume another rejection!
😛

Anyway, I'm non-traditional/stats are nothing to brag about - ~33, 3.7 - however I am super excited! I grabbed the earliest opportunity - this December, in fact - and I'm trying to comb through this forum (39 pages - this is the most active thread I'm subscribed to) and other related forums in preparation. If anyone can PM me some helpful tips on how their interview went, I would really really appreciate it.

I still believe this is a long shot for me, but I'm crossing my fingers - I've read nothing but awesomeness about this school! Miracles do happen, and it is the holiday season...:xf:

I interviewed with Dr. Mehta, and she was a lot of fun! I really liked her and Mr. Essman on my interview day. That guy is awesome! Even the admissions staff there were great, the lady at the front was the nicest person ever and walked me and two other applicants out to show us how to get to the tram!

Congratulations! Case is a great school. I'll PM you when I get a chance. First, I need to eat dinner 🙂 I'm starving.

Good luck Emmeline! Please feel free to ask any questions you have directly and we shall try our best to asnwer.

Fyi Case has a long history (as in many decades) of accepting non-trads. In fact a former dean affectionately coined the term "bent arrows" to mean us students who did not take "a straight path" to medical school.

For those of you interviewing this week, particularly today or tomorrow, please be advised that there is a winter storm warning in effect. High winds, blowing snow, low visibility expected.

Guess what I found!

That was pure awesome. Who knew med students could also be pop stars?? Also, I think I spotted you Myuu in one of those videos...

On a different note, I think there may or may not be a committee meeting for the UP today 😀

You will know me by my SDN merchandise.:meanie:

I'm pretty sure there is. Dunno what they do about inclement weather, though, or if they do anything at all about that.

😱

love these emoticons!

Thanks for the best wishes VC7777 (and thanks to those who send PM's🙂)...

Here's a question - how strict are they with the no flights till after 6 o'clock? Suppose someone who shall remain nameless will be interviewing soon and found out they had to work (midnight shift) that night and had to make a 5 o'clock flight.

Would it be better to (A) reschedule...(where next earliest time is a couple of months away) (B) or stick to the schedule and let the admissions people know that he/she has to leave to make a flight...

This person would really really like to interview here sooner than later, but what is more practical? :xf:

I saw this mentioned on one of the pages a while back, but I can't locate the answer!

Thanks in advance!!! (and sorry for a self-directed post).

I'm 99% certain you can request to have your interviews end as early as possible, and might be able to make a 5PM flight. But versus a 6PM or even 7PM flight, is not being a few hours late to the midnight shift more important than having the better chance at admission to Case? It depends on your priorities/the situation. If I were you I'd take the later flight. That isn't meant to be harsh (sorry if it sounds that way), but an objective outlook on a subjective process.

I love Case!

I think both the UP and CP are great and would be happy in either. Hopefully my interviews went well and I'll be hearing good news in early January. The only downside to the UP is the cost.

Doc Opera was awesome. Just amazing to watch all those talented students (and faculty) dance and sing. The skits were hilarious. I loved the case study one.

hey, so has anyone been admitted to the CCLCM program? if not, does anyone know when the decisions are mailed/e-mailed out? thanx guys

Hi, I was admitted a little more than a month ago, and although the application cycle isn't over yet, I'm planning everything around the early start date in July. Anyways, my question is about getting a place to live for my 4 years. Where I'm from, it requires half a year in advance to get a good place. I'd like to start familiarizing myself with some of the places where students live. If you current students have any websites/realty companies that are decent, could you post them? No rush. In the larger scheme of things, this is still a forum for applications.

I know they give 2 rounds of admissions and I know they are meeting some time before the end of the year, then again mid January, then again mid February... I guess that's not very helpful...

There are generally 3 areas you would be looking to live in closer to campus: Little Italy, Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights. There's also Hessler Rd I suppose, but those houses are seriously old (it's a quaint historic district)... I'm personally not a fan, but if you're looking for cheap, that's the way to go. I have honestly lucked out with individual landlords that own one or a few places. I would stay away from big realty companies (I know Montlack Realty is something you want to stay away from).

Pricey but nice, right on campus: The Triangle (http://www.thetriangleapts.com/). Waldorf Towers is the next best thing, not as pricey but still not as cheap as elsewhere (http://www.paranmgt.com/waldorf/). A little bit aways from campus, but not too bad of an area are the Kensington place apartments (http://www.kensingtonplaceapartments.com/) (it's right next to a center that has a Dave's Grocery store, Bally's Fitness, a Regal Cinema, Walmart, Home Depot ...) .

Generally I have 4 ways of looking for apartments: craigslist, the Case forum (forum.case.edu), and these listings: http://studentaffairs.case.edu/living/services/aloha/Search/Default.aspx or just driving around and looking for signs up that say "for rent" (honestly most effective way).

I currently live in Shaker Heights, but I honestly preferred Cleveland Heights for several reasons: Coventry in Cleveland Heights is more designed for students, places are open relatively late and there are usually other students around the area. Over here, there are some really nice restaurants and coffee shops between Larchmere and Shaker Square, but they close at like 9... Not as many students walking around.

Ok, that's all I have for now.

Actually we have already given out 10 accceptances after our first of 3 full committee meetings just after Thanksgiving. After the Jan 11th meeting (within 2 weeks of that date) the next group will be notified. And then there will be the final meeting which will also develop a waiting list. Further acceptances off the waiting list will trickle out as people decline after that date.

Anyone hear anything from UP today?

Not yet. If you look at the last mention on the forum of receiving a UP acceptance, it was posted by a user at around 5pm forum time (=? real time) on a Tuesday, much like this one (said they were checking neurotically, which I am trying hard not to do right now). My hunch is if they post today, it will not be for a couple of hours yet. We also don't know if they postponed the meeting for the epic snowstorm...

EDIT: Nvm calendar fail, Wednesday.

:xf:?

very well. Hoping to hear good news tomorrow then! 🙂

I'm in the middle of finals so I haven't had much time to think and dream about Case, lol. I really enjoyed my interview day and was very impressed. It really looks like a place where I would fit in with the philosophy of learning 🙂. Hope I am one of the chosen ones:xf:😍

At least you have something to keep your mind occupied then! I had three finals yesterday and my next one is not for another week so I have far too much time to hope for good news tomorrow. I hope returning to the iApply page brings positive updates for both of us!

Well today's the day 🙂xf🙂! Best of luck to everyone!
