TOP!
And don't either of you top-snatchers dare to ninja this one away from me, either, or else.... >:3

Congrats to all those accepted =)

I got an e-mail that I was on hold for the UP program.
Prior to my interview/visit, it was one of my top choices, after the visit - it became my top choice. It's an amazing program, so I'm remaining optimistic and crossing my fingers.

Belated Happy New Year!
Congrats! I'm a previously hold-listed M1, so I know it's tough, but it's definitely worth the hope!

I interviewed for the UP this week and had a blast, from the lecture about the most strategic places to stash snacks in your white coat to the craigslist killer chat at lunch. I hope I get the chance to sing at next year's Doc Opera!

Any of you CCLCM students catch the word on why the hold letter was changed?

I had the same thing happen to me, so I emailed the office.

This is what they wrote back:

Good Morning _____,
Thank you for your continued interest in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University College Track.
I am sending this e-mail in follow-up to your e-mail sent to the CCLCM site yesterday, 1/4/2011, regarding your application status. I apologize for any confusion you rendered when checking your status, but I wanted to send you this e-mail as a confirmation that your status as of 1/5/2011 is “Hold” and not High Hold. There must have been some technical issues and I had the IT technician check the computer system so that this would not happen again. If I can be of any further assistance to you regarding this matter please do not hesitate to contact me at (216)444-2414.
Thank you,
.Denise.

I was really excited about the 'high hold' status, but mistakes do happen. 🙁

Hey everyone, just received an interview invite for the UP and CCLM (and here I had lost hope!) - I'm really excited!! There seem to be nothing but good things on this thread, so that bodes well 🙂 and, congrats to all those accepted!

I did search the thread but didn't manage to find this, sorry if it is repetitive - does anyone know what the CCLM interview --> acceptance rate is?

Saaaaaaaad.

For the non-traditional students, if you haven't been dependent on your parents in years, do you need to include parental information on your fafsa and any other forms you have to fill out to be considered for scholarships?

Iirc there is a worksheet on the website to help you determine spouse and parental reporting requirements

Not sent from my cell phone 😏

I looked into it today. I was told that if you have issues where the status was changed please contact the office, as some have done.

Alright, maybe I'll send Denise an email just for kicks, but I expect I'll receive the same answer as a previous poster.

The questions is, does anyone here still have a High-Hold status?

Nontrad :hello:
For your fafsa, you don't have to put parental stuff...at least in my situation (30 married and working) I didn't. But for the forms you fill out for Case aid, you do have to provide it.

What that means is: if you want to apply for grant money (need-based free$) from Case, you have to provide parental income info. Otherwise, you don't. However, they were extremely understanding about the situation. There is a place in the form at the end to put an explanation for your situation, and they genuinely put weight on what you say.

I spent a lot of time talking with the financial aid people, Wanda Rollins and Rachel Tong. They are really easy to talk with and can answer any questions you have.

Yay nontrads!

Maybe I'll give the finaid office a call on Monday. If I have to get my mom's info I can but being out of college for almost 5 years and married I kind of feel uncomfortable doing so. I would like to be eligible for as much aid and scholarships as I can get.

Now I understand why you're all so crazy about case. I fell in love with case yesterday and now it's my top choice. I hope I get really good news in a few weeks :xf:

i have both college and university interviews next week. do we need to bring anything to the interviews? i don't see it in the invites.. (like photos or something)

also does anyone know what this year or last years break down was? like # interviewed, accepted, hold for both programs? thanks

No, when I interviewed for both programs I didn't need to bring anything. I do wish I had brought a lot more questions. You'll be asked numerous times during both interviews if you have any questions. Good luck!:luck:

I'm not sure what the numbers are but I think they were discussed earlier in this thread.

So I was at my company's holiday party last night and they played "OMG" by Usher. Tell me why the words "Oh my gerd" kept going through my head.....

I 😍 Case!

This is true. Roughly speaking (do not quote) it will be on the order of 200 to 250 interviews and 40 to 50 acceptances before it is all said and done.

But to paraphrase CCLCMer, knowing these stats doesn't amount to a hill of beans. Trying to acertain one individual's probability of acceptance based on these numbers is problematic. It makes the huge assumption that everyone is equally competitive for our program - which is clearly not the case for any school.

Best of luck.

Just wondering but in the rankings and also MSPR, the college track and university track are combined and listed as case western? is this correct? Thanks!!
This is correct. We are all Case Western Reserve University students. There is nothing published separate for CCLCM (CP) in the MSAR.

does the College track program have lectures? or is it completely self study/teaching other students? There seems to be no grades or exams?

With the CP, we have 3 PBL sessions per week and several seminars plus an Advance Research In Medicine presentation by a prominent researcher. The seminars are usually taught by either clinicians in the field or by researchers (very) familiar with the topic du jour. Often we are split into groups of 6,8,16, or the "full" 32 (I hesitate to call any seminar "full" with only 32 students).

I would not call them lectures. At all. They are intimate affairs, and highly interactive.

You are correct too: we do not have exams, grades, or rankings (I'm currently 33 out of 32, I joke 🙂 ). There is also no AOA (honor society) at CCLCM. If we had AOA, it would mean only 3.2 people would be eligible, and presumably only one or two of them in each class would get selected. It's kind of hard to have a society with only one person from each class in it. That's less of a professional honor society and more of a carpool group. :meanie:

Has anyone gotten off of the pre-interview hold? I really like case and all the students here seem to be saying great things about it so this pre-interview hold worries me a ton!

Long time lurker, first time poster. My status for the CP went from hold to high hold. I hope this is good.

could anyone give me the email of who we send update letters to? or if case prefers physical letters over emails?

I called the CCLCM admissions office today regarding the hold/high hold thing...My original letter was a mistake, so I'm "hold" and not "high hold." Sadface.

I know that the next date for CCLCM adcom meeting is supposed to be tomorrow and that we probably won't hear back until the 25th, but I was wondering how long the gap was between the first meeting and first round of notifications was? Thanks!

Let me try and keep expectations in check:
I said tentative. I am not on the adcom, so I do not know for a fact whether or not the meeting as planned will happen tomorrow. And the 25th is thus not set in stone. We are looking at ROUGHLY 2 weeks plus or minus 2 weeks.

Past performance is not indicative of future results.

I was reading some of last year's thread to figure it out but I didn't find the answer I was looking for. How does getting a computer from Case work? Is it included in the tuition and you just take out additional loan money or do you have to pay for it up front? I know for CCLCM they get theirs for free 👍

It's included in your first year's loan allocation, I think. They usually give students a choice between a Mac (last year was a MacBook pro) and a Dell.

The university program is email-friendly. You can send them to our director of admissions, Christian Essman, whose address I can't immediately recall (it's listed on our website).:luck:

Thank you. Just trying to plan costs for the eventual move.

Please enjoy that the bolded portion are the only words my CCLCM-centered brain managed to register. My ringer is officially on.
😍
Love is blind...

Has anyone gotten off a post-interview hold? Or does that not usually happen until May or something?

wow the interviews at cclcm is HARD! pretty sure i bombed it from the # of i dont knows i responded to the research questions lol...
You got asked research questions and said you didn't know? I guess it depends on what the research questions were--there is a whole scale for these things. If they were asking you if you thought you'd still be doing research in this area five or ten years from now and you said you didn't know, that's ok. If they asked you what the next step in the project should be and you said you didn't know, that's kind of bad. If they were asking you what your hypothesis was and you said you didn't know, that's pretty bad. If they were asking you what your role in the project was and you said you didn't know, that's really bad. If they were asking you what your PI's name was and you didn't know, that is off the charts bad. If they were asking whether you would ever consider doing something you knew was unethical and you said you didn't know, that is out of the known universe bad.

So seriously, it's hard to say how well or badly you did. But if you know your project well and can explain it (hypothesis, purpose, future directions), then you probably did fine.

Interviewer asked me to tell her why the protein I worked with was named the name it has... and a bunch of other specific questions like that ...

Hey everyone. So my mom keeps bugging me about the interview day. Could anyone tell me around what time the interviews will be over. I know what the day consists of but am not sure of what time it will end.

TIA!

My interview day ended like at 3, I wanna say

Sometimes I think they look for your reaction as much as they look at your answer. If you can candidly tell them that you don't know something and maybe follow it up with what you do know that still makes it a good interview.
