Nooooo idea.😕 Apparently, it's a new thing for this year.😳

But yes, 00:01 saturday morning is open.

The AAMC says, "Each school notify all applicants - other than Combined College/M.D., Early Decision Program (EDP), and deferred matriculation applicants - of acceptance to medical school only after October 15 of each admission cycle. It may be appropriate to communicate notifications of decisions other than acceptance to medical school to applicants prior to October 15."

http://www.aamc.org/students/applying/policies/admissionofficers.htm

Many school websites mention Oct. 15, 2010 as being significant. For examples, see:

Michigan - http://www.med.umich.edu/medschool/admissions/
Harvard - http://hms.harvard.edu/admissions/default.asp?page=admissionspolicy
Illinois - http://medicine.iu.edu/body.cfm?id=174
Florida - http://admissions.med.ufl.edu/admissions/regular-admissions/

Yes, I'm quite familiar with that.

Interview invitation to the University Track! I scheduled it for Nov 9th. That was the earliest available day, and then there are a lot still open after that.

Excited!

For applicants out there stressing about interview dates, don't worry too much if you have to take a later interview date. I interviewed at the end of the admissions cycle last year and was notified that I was accepted about a week after my interview. I also know of two other people in my class (University Program) that did the same (February interviews). The admissions office is pretty good about not filling the class early and giving everyone with an interview a chance.

To those familiar with Cleveland: what do you suggest as the best way to get around (taxi, supershuttle, bus, etc.)? Thanks!

Exactly. At my interview yesterday they made it very clear that many of us would be put on hold so that Case could consider later interviewees equally. It sounds like Case is very meticulous in choosing the right class and they don't want to miss out on any qualified candidates who happened to apply a bit later.

I think that some schools interpret "after Oct 15th" as Oct 16th or later.

EDIT: Case released on 10/15 last year so IDK why it would be the next day

Crap. Rejected from CCLCM today - really disappointed, this program was far and away my top choice. Obnoxious that they didn't email me with a status update and that it took a month and a half to read the file. Thanks for dragging me along...

Yup, still havent heard. Tell me more about pe interview hold? Is it a good or bad thing and do people often get interviews after being on hold or is it just a delayed rejection? (it varies from school to school i think and im not sure about cclcm)
I just may give them a call just incase. Its gonna 3 months soon and for the CP thats a long time esp considering people complete in august r hearing back already
Well, it beats a rejection, you know? 😛

But sorry, I don't know how often people get invited from pre-interview hold. I think it can't hurt to call and ask politely.

Well it's not like myuu would walk into the admissions office wearing a sign that says "myuu". I wouldn't know myuu if I saw her....him? I don't even know myuu's gender! Now every single person I meet I'll be all like 😱 are you myuu?
If Myuu isn't a girl, she's the most effeminate guy I've ever seen.

Congratulations!

Likewise. I was a late January interviewee, and I was accepted to both programs.

Where are you trying to go?

Look, man, sorry about the rejection and I know you're disappointed, but it's not like it's a personal insult against you. It takes that much time to read the files because there are like 2000 of you guys applying and only around 5-10 people screening all those apps. Probably the only way to speed things up would be to use a filter and screen out people below a certain GPA or MCAT. But that's a pretty lousy and impersonal way to screen, IMO. Anyway, hope you get some love from your other schools. :xf:

And an update from my own personal application saga: invites are continuing to trickle in and still no rejections yet. Dean's letters should be done this week, and they get uploaded on 11/1. Then my app will be complete and I should hear yay or nay from the rest of my programs. My first interview is coming up soon and I'm excited, though it's going to be a hectic, exhausting, and expensive few months! I'll keep you all posted.

Pretty aware that it's nothing personal, just hard to get rejected from your first choice. Oh well, my GPA was more a bit out of the range for CCLCM and I knew that it would be a big reach, but I was hoping that my research experience would give me a boost. It's my own fault for getting my hopes up after I saw that I had been complete since July 28 and assuming that I had made the first cut. Good luck with your residency apps.

I guess CCLCMer beat me to it, but it really depends on where you're starting from, where you want to go, and what time it is.

Yeah, I know we did last year. I've been told that this year is a little different due to some non-local reinterpretation of the traffic rules.

So, sit back, breathe deeply, and try to relax.

If Myuu isn't a girl, she's the most effeminate guy I've ever seen.
An effeminate not-a-guy with a sign that says 'Myuu', no less. If the interviewees still managed to miss me, that's all on them.

I called and the lady said I am neither rejected nor invited for an interview yet, so I should keep calling to check about my status. But yea i still remain hopeful that my number one choice school shows me some love

Also, I may have missed this on the thread, but what specialty are you interested in CCLCMer? Im just curious. Gooduck with your apps 👍

Wow, it's so rare that I ever beat you to anything.

At least I'm going to graduate before you do. It was iffy for a while. :meanie: 😛

Ok, so it's not the most satisfying answer, but at least it's not a rejection, right?

I didn't post what specialty I'm applying in because of how small our class is. Hope that's not too much of an inconvenience.

December 15th can't come soon enough (assuming they thought I was cool enough for an early acceptance or something) 🙂. October 16th-18th, as well 😀.

I feel like this thread is trying to date a pair of sisters(chools), where I need to devote equal time to each sister, lest I piss one or the other off, even though I do have a clear favorite. Hahaha.

I second Myuu and CCLMer on this one. Also, Cleveland is not New York or Las Vegas, so if you need a cab early in the morning, make sure you call and schedule one the night in advance. When I interviewed for the University Program I stayed with a student host in Little Italy (right next to campus) so I took the Rapid from the airport. It will take around an hour if you Rapid from the airport to University Circle (waiting, riding, walking). If you're going to the Clinic, I'm not as clear if the Rapid is convenient. I have a car here so I usually drive to that area. I also know that the University Program admissions office will validate rental car parking for campus (not the rental, just the parking on the day of the interview). You'll have to check with them for more details about which lot to park in.

I'm sorry you didn't get in. I'm sorry if I haven't been following along, but did you apply to the University Program as well?

Interview Invite! complete 9/01

Congratulations! University Program or Clinic?

Well let's see...Trying to go from airport to hotel near campus, then from campus to another hotel near the airport, then I was gonna explore Cleveland a bit. Guess I could get a personal chauffeur? 🙂

University Program

Cool! I might see you or talk to you when come interview. I do lunches and tours with the admissions office. (No I don't have any say in who gets in.)

Well let's see...Trying to go from airport to hotel near campus, then from campus to another hotel near the airport, then I was gonna explore Cleveland a bit. Guess I could get a personal chauffeur? 🙂

I would call the hotels where you're staying and ask them what they would recommend. I'm sure they've given advice and directions plenty of times.

Not holding out too much hope for Case considering my MCAT is closer to the bottom for accepted students BUT I have yet to hear back (complete 8/04 according to iapply) from UP. I'm assuming this is completely normal (i.e. not too long?), and :xf: just in case...no pun intended 🙂.

If you're staying at any of the hotels on either campus (Intercontinental, Intercontinental Suites, Guesthouse, Glidden House), my recommendation is that you take the red line from the airport to Tower City, then transfer to the Health Line at Tower City. The Health Line goes down Euclid and passes close by all four hotels. It costs $2.25 to ride the Rapid, and exact change is necessary unless you want to make an additional donation to the Cleveland public transit system.

Oh, come on, you TOTALLY intended that pun. Just admit it. You're not the first, and you won't be the last. 😀

. I have to say that, to my own surprise, I realized it only after I wrote it. You know how you read along with what you write? Yeah, that was a funny moment.

disclosure: that second emoticon has a severely delayed reaction for the particular scenario I experienced

Thanks! Yeah, 2.25 is better than the 30 or so for a taxi or supershuttle...

Rejected from university program today, GL to everyone else applying. Sort of saw this one coming, but worst rejection sequence so far.

Good luck! Thanks to Dr. Einstadter I am immune to puns.

The Rapid ticket machine at the airport also accepts credit card. It is a pretty horrible interface to use though, so be patient.

I'm sorry to hear that, good luck with the rest of the admissions cycle.

Thanks! I've always thought of myself as more Donatello, but Raphael will do.

The only cash I had on me when I got to the airport was a $20, so, of course, I used it to pay for my $4.50 in red line tickets. (neither of which were ever collected anyway) Out came $14 in gold president coins, a 1970's silver dollar, and two oldschool quarters. I used them to pay for something a few days later.

BTW if you let us know which hotels exactly, I'm sure we can give better advice. I found that walking was sufficient to get anywhere after I took the train.

Uhhh, so am I dumb for planning on taking the Ohio Connection? My flight is getting in at 8:30pm on a Saturday and I'm going to the Guesthouse. It seemed like it would be easier than figuring out the bus/train system (I'm lazy), but now I'm not so sure if it's worth $25 since the train is so cheap. Is it pretty easy to figure out public transportation from the airport to the Guesthouse after dark?

Hey guys, I'm trying to book my flight now and I'm wondering if I should book a 6:00 flight or a 8:45 flight to go back home. I know the invite said that the day will be over by 4pm but would the 6pm flight be cutting it close?

I took it, was pretty cool, the guy gave me a brief tour and history of the area and showed me where to eat and how to get to various places.

Yeah, for UP a 6 flight should be doable.👍

Wow, that's awesome.😀

On a meta-ish note, we now lead School Specific Discussions in post count.😎 For historical purposes, please be aware that we out-classed (that's obviously what this is about) the next closest 'competitor' last season by a full 2000 posts.

Keep up the good work.:ninja:

They really are - they pour tons and tons of effort into crafting exactly the class they want. It's much more than a sum of stellar MCATs and GPAs, the class really fits together. I went to the second look of the other school I got into, and it was nothing like this.
If Myuu isn't a girl, she's the most effeminate guy I've ever seen.

1. You see, Myuutroid was so hardcore with her armor and giant arm cannon that it shocked everyone, when she took off her helmet, that it was a SHE all along.
2. Congrats CCLCMer! (And btw I didn't know YOU were a she until like a month before I got here  ) I'm super curious - how does the residency application process compare to the whole MCAT/AMCAS cycle thing? In terms of nervousness/excitement/forcing-yourself-to-be-patient?

Congratulations!

For applicants out there stressing about interview dates, don't worry too much if you have to take a later interview date. I interviewed in January also. I got in off of the waitlist May 10. Happiest day evarrr.
Good luck! Thanks to Dr. Einstadter I am immune to puns.
🤣I really liked him, despite my lack of love for biostats/epidemiology. I couldn't believe how many puns he had up his sleeve.

Now that's more like it! I have high hopes for this year's thread to break 5207. 👍

Myuu, perhaps I am the least observant person in the hemisphere but when did you get a phone-verified stamp, and waaaaat does it mean? o_0

Myuu can you sneak into the admissions office and ninja-steal my decision today, please?

As a note, while you don't have to go through a gate to use the Rapid, there are conductors that will sometimes walk the cars and ask for tickets (Old School right? 😀). And if you get off at Tower City (Downtown), you definitely need a ticket because that is a stop that has turnstiles.

Out came $14 in gold president coins, a 1970's silver dollar, and two oldschool quarters. I used them to pay for something a few days later.

I think the $25 might be worth it since you're getting in pretty late. I know I was definitely asking directions when I got in at dusk, and it wasn't even totally dark yet!

Hey guys, I'm trying to book my flight now and I'm wondering if I should book a 6:00 flight or a 8:45 flight to go back home. I know the invite said that the day will be over by 4pm but would the 6pm flight be cutting it close?
As long as you leave straight for the airport, you should be fine.

The buses check everything after a certain hour at night. I'm not really sure about the Rapid, though.

As far as the UP goes, you're not going to get a phone call unless you come off a wait list later on in the season. What you will get is an iapply notice sometime in the near future, if your application has been decided on already.
