Awww man I got the hold. Was really hoping for my first acceptance 🙁

It's so hard coming off an unsuccessful cycle last year, interviewing at my dream school where both interviewers say that they hope I'll come to Case and will give me their full recommendations to the committee, and then get hit with the waitlist. /end sad rant

Chin up! You have a lot of interviews this year, and you are sure to get in somewhere. And I think Case doesn't front-load their acceptances (if what they told us during the admissions talk was true), so you probably still have a good chance of getting in right?

Thanks, I sure hope so. I think it makes it worse when you come out of an interview feeling confident. But I guess I need to keep in mind that the interview is only one aspect of the decision process. The two schools I interviewed at last year went the same way. Interviewers said they could 100% see me at their school and I would be most definitely be accepted which ended up being waitlists/rejections.

On hold. I knew this would probably happen, but I still feel frustrated and impatient. 😡

Congrats to those of you who got accepted!

I understand the feeling well. ><

But to soothe your angst, the holds are held highly. They DON'T frontload acceptances, so they have to put a good number in the hold category. They re-review the holds at least once a month, if what was true last year still is the pattern. Perhaps a Myuu can validate this statement. But you are still very much in the running. A significant number of people got the unfortunate kind of letter today. And it's still very very early in the season. :xf:!

@OGMD and barcoderider,

I can understand your disappointment right now, but Auriga is correct in that they will definitely be revisiting your applications in the future. This was just the very first round of acceptances for the entering class of 2011. Putting you on the waitlist means that they are still interested in you, but they are trying to spread out the acceptances over a many month period to give as many applicants as possible a chance to interview for a spot in the class. Try to stay updated on this forum as pertinent (and not so pertinent 🙂) information often comes up in regards to future rounds of acceptances. Best wishes to both of you and everyone else accepted/waitlisted today!

Ahh tricky! I didn't know the number of hearts was significant 🙂

I told you every part of the clue was a clue!😀

How can you NOT be an eggplant on legs?
That would explain the faceplanting... as I understand it, eggplants are not terribly stable on the ice or on wheels. Didn't faceplant yesterday, though, so maybe eggplants on wheels just have a lot of off-days followed by the occasional perfect day....

Accepted! Congrats to the others who posted previously as well!
Congratulations, guys! 😀

Awww, a ton of people get taken off of that waitlist as we get a better picture of what the applicant pool is like.:luck::xf:

+1 To all of you! I was traveling last night and off line...
😍👍😀

I had a feeling it was going to be something like that.🙂 Good to hear from you again. I was beginning to wonder where you were hiding.

Good morning, Casefans! It's a beautiful fall morning here in Cleveland, with the leaves changing to beautiful yellows and oranges. Current temperature is 55º. The high today is 57º. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies today--looking outside, I can't say that I disagree.

We're only 30 or so posts behind Boston.😉

I know it's really tough when you're placed on hold, but there is always hope since you weren't rejected. It means that they will continue to look over your application as the admissions cycle goes on hand out admissions as they get a better idea of what the whole class will look like.

Congratulations!

Why oh why does it feel colder than 50º in my apartment... 😕 This makes me want to crawl back under the covers instead of studying... or go outside.

I would like to remention that your name is probably my favorite evarrr and makes me giggle frequently.

why thank you, you just made my day.

SEE CASE WESTERN I WILL FIT IN AT YOUR SCHOOL! I AM PUNNY! 😀

Also a million congrats to those who got in and best of luck to those that got deferred. I had my interview this past Monday so I'm expecting to hear back at the end of next week (that's what they told us, anyway)

Kinda bummed..... put on hold. I thought I had a pretty good interview but I knew Case would be a really big reach. Still hoping. Any ideas when we might hear about getting off the waitlist? Do they wait until May, or will they tell us earlier? 😕

Oh dear... 😉

Although some people hear earlier, the list really starts moving as interviews wind down in February/March and people begin accepting/declining admissions.

Although uncommon, one person in my class got accepted one week before the start of classes in July (she was local so she didn't have to move or anything) and decided to drop her admissions elsewhere and come to Case. This is actually not as bad as a friend of mine from California who got accepted into a Chicago school literally two days before the start of their classes in August. She had a hectic move.

You can take this bit of information in two ways: (1 - half empty) if you don't get an acceptance by June, chances probably aren't high or (2 - half full) hey there's a chance all the way up to the start of classes!

I remember hearing something about someone either in my class or the class before mine getting accepted a little more than a day before the start of classes (and landing housing!). It is certainly true, though, that the bulk of hold candidates tend to move later rather than earlier, but that isn't to say that some don't get accepted earlier.

...I think that last sentence could use some grammar...

last year's thread had upwards of 1750 posts by this time. we've got to step it up!

congrats to everyone who received acceptances or news that they're still in the game!
👍

have any post-interview rejections been made? or only holds and acceptances so far?

Back to work (+pad+), you guys!

Yayyyy!

Yes, I know at leeeeast like 20-30 of my classmates who came off the waitlist. And there's not even a waitlist yet - you're on hold, which is much better. That means they are going to keep considering you when they review applicants. This is just round 1, super early in the game, there is much hope.

I believe rejections went out. Myuu?

Oh, and as for you, Myuu, 4 hours of sleep is not healthy, even for ninjas. Tsk tsk. On the upside, congrats on not obtaining any new bruises for your collection! 👍 I just noticed you changed your title, and give you a grade-A roffle on that one.

I can't believe that you guys are still at it. Did we really have 1700+ posts by October 15 last year? That's out of control.

Myuu, I tip my hat to you. Last night's performance was absolutely classic. vc7777 and I have a very high bar to reach when CCLCM's first acceptance date comes up in December!

On a more serious note, for those of you who are on hold, you need to take a step back. In spite of how it looks on SDN, the vast majority of people who are eventually accepted to medical school--not just to Case, but to ANY medical school--do NOT get accepted on October 15 (or October 16 in this case 😉). We're not even at the halfway point yet for app season, and significant numbers of acceptances will continue to go out from now until the end of May. I know everyone wants the whole admissions game to be over and done already, but unfortunately, that's not how things are going to work for many of you. That doesn't mean you'll never get into Case, or into some other schools that you also love.

If you're set on coming to Case, keep the faith, and don't give up. If you have updates (good fall semester grades, new honors or awards, new ECs, etc.), send them in. But go on your other interviews and give them your best effort. You will feel a lot better once you have that first acceptance under your belt and you know that you're going to be going SOMEWHERE in July/August, so let that be your primary goal.

Good luck, everyone. 🙂

Omakase!

Which reminds me:
All you can eat sushi and sashimi at Watami Buffet in Parma, OH

"So it's a little bit of a drive, especially for those of us on the east side of Cleveland (represent), but the food and price are worth it. Only complaint is that the sashimi is stocked slowly, but if you ask one of the sushi chefs behind the buffet counters, they will restock for you. Bottom line is, for $8.99 at lunch and $14.99 at dinner, you get self-served, all you can eat sushi, sashimi, raw oysters, desserts, Japanese food, on demand hibachi, and more. One helping of sashimi will pretty much make your money back. What more is there to say?
The Watami Japanese Seafood Buffet and Grill can be found in the Parmatown plaza next to the mall at 7703 W Ridgewood Dr. Parma, OH 44129." [examiner.com]

I've been wanting to try it. I call for a post-second-year-block-5-exams voyage to Parma (only like 20-25 mins from campus) for whoever wants to go . Like the second weekend post-M2-exams. (Methinks some sM2s are going out of town that first weekend) 👍

If I'm in town when you go, definitely count me in. 👍

Oh, I went to bed long before that.:d. Not sure about when exactly rejections go out, actually, but probably last night, yeah.

Sounds good to me!

Woo! Accepted 10/16, invited to apply for merit scholarships. Grats to the other acceptees.

You know, at the rate we're going, I bet we could clear 1000 before Boston does. What do you think?😎

Here's an idea. In order to make this less +pad+ariffic, you ask a question about Case, the UP, or Cleveland in general, and I'll see if I can't answer it for you.

Wow, Myuu, you are so freaking awesome. This thread is making me that much more excited about visiting Case! I cannot wait to possibly meet you, Myuu, if I know how to recognize you, lol.

Also, congrats to everyone who was accepted!!!! Best of luck to everyone else!

FlowRate: It depends on what kind of dance you're interested in. There are undergraduate clubs for swing dancing, ballroom, hip hop, tap, and bhangra (to name the ones I can remember off the top of my head), and plenty of med students have participated at least in swing. There's a place called the Sunset Lounge, I believe, where several people go salsa dancing. Get Hep is a swing studio in Cleveland, and I know there's a couple of ballroom studios around but haven't the faintest idea what the names are. Cheek 2 Cheek might be one. It should be fairly easy to keep dancing!

Also, I went to Case for undergrad, so I'm not spouting this off the top of my head.

Oh, and of course I forgot: Case has a fairly good modern dance program, so if you want, you can always do classes in that!

Very cool! I'm most into ballet, but I also really like all things ballroom/latin/swing as well! I guess if their modern program crosses with modern ballet that would be awesome 😀 Thanks for the info!

Congrats on the acceptances! I'm thinking though that some of the current students came by this Friday (10/15) and ninja'd some of our pastries/coffee around 830 or so. Shame...

First timer here 😀

I don't post very much, but this thread is too entertaining and full of positivity!

congrats on the acceptances everyone 👍
