How long after we reply with interview dates do you think it'll be confirmed? I sent in the reply as soon as I got it yesterday, but I really need to finalize my flight ASAP. Would it be too annoying to call them for confirmation?

I sent mine in around 16h00 PDT and received a response this morning around 08h00.

I was pooled almost a full month ago - c'mon RFU! :xf:

Does RFU do student hosting? If not, does anyone want to split a room for Oct. 20th?

So we have to send in our secondaries by mail, is there a way we can monitor the status of our app online though? Or will they just send an email if they want an interview?

Also, do we have to have our MCAT scores when we send the application? Mine come in late September so will they place it on hold until AMCAS loads the score or will they simply mark it as "incomplete"??

thanks

No online status. I got an email for every step however. When my app was "complete," when I started and when I finished primary screening, when I was pooled, and when I got an interview.

In regards to MCAT, they will probably just wait until they get the score. I think most schools do that.

So, got my secondary invite on July 16th, didn't notice until now. D'OH!

Am I too late to send this out? Sigh.

Do you mind sharing the time line of all of this? Thanks! 🙂

Complete late July (like the 28th), entered Primary screening early August, in that screening for close to a month until August 26th and was pooled. Got an interview invite early September.

Not sure how this worked for others, however. I have seen some remark that they have been pooled since late July or early August. Plus, as the cycle goes on, things tend to take longer.

I've been complete and got the email about primary screening around mid august and haven't heard anything...anyone know what happens if you're not pooled? do they email you?

it took me more than a month to be small pooled. but I got an interview may be 2 weeks after that. so i would say don't worry about it yet.

I'm interviewing on Sep 22nd. If anyone wants to split a room PM me. It would be nice to save on cab rides and have fellow SDNer as an interview buddy.

Let me know 🙂

Does Primary Screening = Small pool or Primary Screening=complete?

Does Primary Screening = Small pool or Primary Screening=complete?

Complete -> Primary Screening -> Small Pool

So, you should receive an email that you're complete before you receive your primary screening email. The small pool email comes last (well, unless there's an interview invite!)

what does small pool mean?

I got a letter saying my app going through primary screening now...
whats next?

Weird. I never got a complete email but I did get a primary screening email.

I received my complete email 12 days ago, but haven't heard anything regarding primary screening. Is there anyone else in this situation? I'm starting to get a little worried 🙁

Honestly I wouldn't worry. I have been complete since 8/17 and still have not heard. It looks like it is taking a month so you have a long ways to go before you will hear anything.

there's no student hosting program. there are plenty of cheap hotels around though. when i came to interview i stayed about two miles away and, as i remember, paid ~$60 for the night.

i have a 25p mcat. 3.8 gpa both cum and science. Do i have a chance applying there?

I have received a secondary, do they screen by any chance?

You probably have just as good of a shot here as any other school you apply to, except maybe your in-state school. They do not screen for the secondary.

My chance at any other school is not that great :/ So im guessing my chance is slim to none? 🙁

I'll be the debbie downer.

MSAR says the lowest 10th % at RF had a 17, so if you got in you'd be in the bottom 1 or 2%.

Not good odds....

i got small pooled today, anyone know whats the % chances of getting an interview?

i think it's not that bad. ask others though, but being pooled is a good thing. when did you submit/were complete rulz?

I have been "small pooled" since 8/2 but haven't heard anything since... it sounds like people have been getting interviews relatively soon after being pooled, have there been cases of people getting interviews awhile after being pooled or do you guys think I am out of luck? Thanks!

I'm a later applicant this cycle (still need to submit LOR) and was just wondering if I can submit only the three letters, or if additional letters are accepted. What did some of you do? Thanks so much!

I received my primary screening email on 9/3 so I am really hoping for some good news. Does anyone know how long it takes to be small pooled? Or is it even a good thing.. it seems that being small pooled can go either direction.

I was small pooled on July 27 and I'm still waiting. Hopefully, we're not out of luck yet!:xf:

Being pooled is a good thing. The email they send says "your application has passed a preliminary screening."

There's been speculation earlier in the thread about the percentage of small pooled people who get interviewed if your interested.

Hey guys. I entered primary screening on August 17 and have not heard anything yet... any idea how long this typically takes, or has anyone who entered primary screening around that time heard anything? I am starting to get worried!

I have an interview scheduled and I was wondering, what is the cheapest way to get from O'Hare to Rosalind Franklin?

I was reading the interview planner on their website and the Chicago Metropolitan Limousine/All Suburban Limousine Service, Inc & American Taxi seem sort of expensive.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I was in primary screening for almost a month. You should hear in the next couple weeks, unless time in screening has increased.

Edit: I entered Aug. 3rd and was pooled Aug 26.

Hey, I got the primary screening email Aug 3rd and still have heard nothing. I emailed them at the 1 month mark and they wrote back the regular message about waiting 4-6 weeks, long process, etc etc. So dont' worry, you're not alone.

The absolute cheapest way is to take cta blue line from o'hare to downtown (2.25$, roughly 45 minutes) and then metra north line to lake bluff (about $ 5.00 and like 30 minutes) and then walk like 30 minutes. I read something about a shuttle service at the lake bluff metra station but the link didn't work so I'm not sure.

So in short, if you take trains it will be very cheap, but take over two hours to get there.

I'm going to take the train....I don't know if there is one from O'Hare, but from Downtown there is a train (I'm sure you can get to this line somehow, someway from O'Hare)...the above poster gave us pretty accurate directions (based on waht I had looked up in preparation). It will take a long time, but I'd suggest doing it to save on the trip up (if yo have time). I booked my "hotel" at Days Inn for like 60 bucks for the one night that I'll stay there..it's only 1.0 miles away from RFU, much more convenient and cheaper than the recommended accomodations.

Splurge on the return trip--taxi and whatnot from RFU to O'Hare, since you will likely have to "rush" to catch a return flight...take a leisurely train ride up to RFU from the airport since there is less of a rush, and probably not much to do in the surrounding area.

There is a bus that will take you from O'Hare to the Davis Street El Station for about $2, and then you can take the Metra from Davis up to the Lake Bluff Metra, where you can take the shuttle up to school. There are a couple of other train-only options, but I think this might be the simplest way.

Good luck on your interview!

Hey! I'm interviewing on September 24th does anyone want to split a hotel room? I am flying in from BWI to OHare around 9:30 pm on Thursday.

Thanks a lot for your information! I am going to be in town already so I'll actually be heading in from the Loop...I will probably take a taxi from the station to my hotel/inn though, and hopefully there's taxi that can take me to school the morning after!

Yeah, no problem. If anybody has any school-specific or Chicago/North Shore/North Chicago questions (read: non-adcom questions), feel free to PM me. I'm plugging through third year clerkships, so it might take me a few days to get back to you, but I'll do the best I can.

2nd app completed on Aug 17. Haven't heard a word from the school ever since then. 32M(P 11, B 12, VB 9) mcat, 4.0gap, international student. Do I even have a chance to be small pooled with my international status and poor writing score :ninja:?

Hi. I am also interviewing on the same day. I'll be flying from NJ to O'hare. Sent you a PM.

Complete 8/20
Primary screening started 9/3

No word yet on interview/pooling, I'll give it a week or two before e-mailing, but I really like RFU and am hoping for an invite! One of my friends just started here this year.

The waiting game sucks, let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos.
