Anyone have an e-mail address I can send update letters to? Person on the phone didn't really sound like she knew what she was talking about and told me to send it in the mail.

They only accepted secondaries by mail... they may only accept updates by mail too?

I don't think they accept pre-interview updates. They did not last year for sure.

You're totally right, guess I'll just snail-mail it then.

Hmm, well the lady didn't say not to so I might as well. Need the extra help more to get an interview than I'll probably need it after.

They politely returned my update without adding it to they file.

What is up with RFU? This school has not had any interview invites for a loooooong time it seems

Ok, so I've put off writing these secondaries for a long time. Anyway, finally thought that it wouldn't hurt just to write it an turn it in. Hope the ADCOMs like what I wrote!! :xf:

I was thinking the same thing! Maybe a batch of invites will go out soon.... :xf:

They need to hold on sending the second batch.. at least until I enter the small pool - then they can send it out... I can't wait another 2months for an invite, lol...

I've been in primary screen since sept 3 and nothing. this is driving me crazy!

Interview Invite (4:30pm today)! Complete 8/17 & Small-pooled 9/15
In-state
Stats: 31O MCAT & cGPA: 3.9/ sGPA: 3.9

Goodluck everyone!

Interview invite just now! 31S MCAT, cGPA 3.9, sGPA 4.0, complete 8/4, small pooled 9/7. So excited!

Finally received an interview invite after being small-pooled on July 27!
In-state, 3.7c, 3.56s, 27. 😀

I recently interviewed here and just wanted to say how much I liked the school. Somehow, Chicago Med gets this reputation as a safety school which is unfortunate because from what I saw it is a great program. It is kind of "in the country" but that could be a positive as it would afford you more of an opportunity to focus on your basic science coursework. Plus, after your first two years you can move to downtown Chicago and do your clinical rotations at Cook County. They match surprisingly well and students seemed tight knit. The school has moved to the top of my list next to some other "prestigous" schools which is funny because I almost considered not going (cause I'm completely broke!). I am definitely glad I borrowed the money for a plane ticket and am crossing my fingers I get in. Just my two cents.
P.S. Make sure you eat before you go because you might not get lunch until 1pm. Oh yeah, and their cafeteria had awesome food!

I'm borderline with this school. I've applied to 18 schools now, with 1 interview and no rejections (yet). This is the last school that I haven't finished the secondary for yet, and I'm just not feeling it (nor the $100 which I feel could be wasted this late in the cycle). Thoughts on whether I should send in a secondary, or just call it quits?

Worst case of each scenario:

1. You are out 100 bucks and a few hours of your time writing essays.

2. You don't get into the 18 schools you've already applied to, and have to try again next cycle, forever wondering if you might have gotten in to Rosalind Franklin had you done their secondary...

I'm sure this isn't universally true, but it's possible that your one interview is from a school where you stand out the most and so they jumped at you. Your other schools may not be so immediately wowed, and need more time to make a decision. I say this because the first response I got from any school was an interview invite from one of the less competitive schools I applied to, and I don't expect a whole lot more. I'm still wary despite the early good news.

Of course maybe that school that invited you is just more on top of apps, but you never know. Depends on what your numbers and ECs are...

YES! Interview invite today! 32R, cGPA 3.74, sGPA 3.98, small pooled 9/21

Everyone I've talked to has nothing but good things to say about this school. Seems to me like they've built a very strong program. Can't wait to see RFU in person! (My wife and kids are happy too, as this is the closest school to our home).

Glad to see all the interview invites, good luck everyone! Just received one this afternoon as well! Really excited...RFU is in a nice suburban setting with easy access to downtown Chicagoland. OOS, 3.8/4.0, 37R. Interviewing next Wednesday (6th). Hopefully, I'll see some of you there. Anyone know if they have large or small groups of applicants on interview day? The available interview date list was quite long so I'm hoping it's small 😀

They had ~10-12 people on my interview group last year. I don't think they change it.

Interview! Anybody know if it will hurt me to schedule the interview in November instead of jumping on the October ones? October is pretty busy for me and I'd rather interview in November.

This is really annoying. I've been complete almost two months and haven't heard anything.

Eck! Just mailed the application and hope that they have room for me in two months (seems like it take a month to be complete and a month for review/invite).

Congrats to everyone who received invites!

I had my interview on Nov. 10 and got my acceptance right before Thanksgiving break, so I don't think it would hurt. Some of my friends here had their interviews on December.

URGENT!

for those who have interviewed or are from Chicago...

How long should I give myself to get from CMS to ORD? WHat is the best way to make the trip back? Can I make a 5:50pm flight if the interview is over around 2 pm?

is there no student hosting option for CMS?

no student hosting...but you could sleep on my couch for $50. 😀

but i recommend you stay at a hotel. there's some decent, inexpensive ones pretty close by. (quality inn, days inn, etc.)

i usually assume it's about an hour drive. so you'd probably make the flight, unless something unexpected happens on the expressway. but i would recommend going through the milwaukee airport. its about the same distance and you don't have to worry as much about traffic. hope that helps.

Don't know about Milwaukee, but I was there (at CMS) last week. My flight was at 6:05 pm the same day as the interview, and I was sitting in the airport for about 3 hours waiting to leave. There is a fixed rate cab fare of $45 from the school to the airport. The day actually ended a little early, 1:45 or so. You WILL have enough time to get to ORD, provided you don't try to take the train or something. GL!:luck:

Haha, ya I plan to end my day at 2PM, have the taxi come at 3pm for good measure, and go to O'Hare to catch a 8pm flight. I'm going to be at ORD FOREVER! lol.

Been small pooled for a couple of weeks. Hoping for that interview!

3.6/33 OOS

Same, been in the pool since August and no word.

3.7/35 oos

Mailed: 09/29
Emailed confirming application received: 10/03
Complete email: 10/04

Wow this school is efficient! Hope I get small pooled soon!

reeeeeeejected post secondary.

3.8/33/OOS. This hurts much less having had three interviews already. On well I was looking forward to checking this place out.

Ouch! Was your rejection by email?

I'm sure you'll have luck at other schools with your stats! :luck:

Post-secondary rejection today. Complete 08/11. 3.45 cGPA, 34Q, OOS. Good luck to everyone else!

You got a wonderful MCAT score. How was the rest of your application looking? Did you have strong LOR's, good EC's and so forth?
I am trying to figure how random this admission process is like..

hopefully they let me out of the pool soon :scared:

It's probably my sGPA, which is well below my cGPA. My ECs are good and my letters are great. Good luck to you!

Sorry to hear, Daisy. Good luck elsewhere!

I'm still waiting to hear back here, but it sounds like we're in the same stats/app situation, so we'll see what happens. :scared:

wow...we got ~identical stats... looks bad for me!

There's that old saying....now what is it....hhmmmm

......"IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT STATS"....

If it were, it wont take them so long to review your file (ala auto-invites only)...

didn't mean to sound harsh.... but don't lose hope. Keep hope alive :xf:

I felt like it went pretty good, but didn't get the same warm fuzzies as with my first interview (you know... the one we were both at ). I think it just threw me off a little because I barely even talked about medicine or my application in either interview. One guy and I talked about foreign affairs and comparisons between Europe and the US for the whole time, and the other one, who did talk a little about medicine at least, threw me off my game a little (changing topics abruptly and unexpectedly, etc.). Otherwise though, it was good, the school seemed neat, the student body seemed pretty close-knit, and the clinical opportunities 3rd and 4th year would be totally amazing!

How have your other interviews/apps been going? I leave for Omaha tomorrow ridiculously early. 👎 Not so much of a morning person, lol!
