The post interview silence has been deafening this end. No call. No email. No letter. I wonder if I should call them...or may be I should just tune them out 😕

Stanford interviews relatively late, so the interview season still extends for another month. We still have a decent amount of interview days left, but I'm not sure how many have already been given out.

No news is certainly better than bad news.

We had people getting invites in March and interviewing in April last year before the switch to the MMI interview format. So at least be glad you won't have to wait that long 🙂

It may seem that way...

But I think anyone who's getting rejection letters this week should take comfort, no matter how small, in the knowledge that they stayed in the game for a looonnngg time. Hopefully many of you/us will have offers from other schools, or they're willing to roll the dice next year.

But I hope that all news gets posted here for better or worse. In my opinion, this is a place to share all. If I wanted to feel good about myself all the time I'd just hang out here all day long.

Next year!? Eughhh no thanks. I'll just take the comfort for this year or whatever you suggested. And thanks, I'm quite the Gob fan. Mrs. Featherbottom may be slightly more awesome.
 
Has anyone been able to call the admissions office successfully? No one ever picks up when I call...

Yup, Stanford wins hands down in sending the funniest rejection letter. It's like finding out that a restaurant's reservations were full for the night and then being told "we hope this does not dissuade you from eating"

If this is still of interest to anyone, I was complete Dec. 15. I guess they're scraping the bottom of the barrel by now. Chin up to anyone else in my boat, and good luck to the rest of you guys :luck:

I'm feeling more and more certain that my (rejection) letter must have got lost in the mail...

When things were quiet last week it was easy to think that they were still considering me. But with so many people getting declined in the last few days, I can only think "If they wanted me to interview, they'd know by now. They've cut plenty of people from their list."

They can't just be staring at my app with a confused expression not knowing what to do.

Right there with you - I've been complete since August and am thinking that my rejection letter must be hiding behind a letter sorting machine somewhere in the Palo Alto post office...

Maybe no news is good news? I'm sure Mdeast will be along soon to remind us not to worry yet. 😛

+1. Complete late August. Not sure why so many people complete way after me have already heard back, but I know I never stood a chance here, and certainly not this late in the season, so I'm expecting the letter any day now.

Does Stanford ever just freeze applicants out with a silent rejection, or do they always inform by letter?

This might be a rumor or I might have another school confused, but I seem to remember reading on this thread that Stanford applicants have complained in the past that they never heard anything back, ever.

a friend of mine got her rejection letter via three-toed sloth mail during her spring semester at harvard med

To be honest....there are only 5 interview days left. 3 are next week and there are 2 more days later in February. I'd pretty much assume next week's days are full and that most of the mid-February spots are too. So, if there are spots left for interview slots I'd imagine there aren't too many.

That being said, if you haven't received a rejection letter it means just that: you're still actively being considered. It's really not over until the Fat Lady sings, which in this case is unfortunately a "thin letter".

On a happier note...it's been around 70 degrees and sunny for the last 4 days in Stanford. Makes it much harder to study or even remember you're supposed to be in med school when you spend afternoons sun bathing on the grass. But unfortunately... these cranial nerves aren't going to learn themselves.

Stanford is rolling. So you usually get a letter a few weeks after your interview with either a rejection, waitlist, or acceptance status (YES! people are rejected post-interview)...or a pre-interview rejection when they've decided to not continue considering your application.

A friend of mine at Yale (M-2) is still waiting for his. Stanford is notorious for losing/not sending the letters.

Hey, could be worse. I once received a rejection notice for a job I was working at, *sent to the mailbox of the corporate housing unit they were providing for me.*

I made a song to memorize them when I took undergrad anatomy two years ago. I still remember them!
 
has anyone here attended interviews at both UCLA ad Stanford so far? I interviewed at UCLA a few weeks ago, and my Stanford interview is coming up Feb 5th, and I was wondering how similar their MMIs are. obviously not looking for specifics...i've just heard that UCLA and Davis are very different so I was wondering if Stanford had a different vibe as well. any input would be much appreciated. thanks! and congrats on all the acceptances btw!

can't speak for Davis but there was a different vibe. i felt like UCLA's focus was more personal (vague but thats just my impression). but its all still just MMI so i wouldn't freak. not like you can prepare for it 😛

Congrats on the acceptances! Sorry about the wait-lists. Waitlist isn't a death sentence, there are definitely people that get in off it every year (myself included). It varies because of the unpredictability of filling the class from the regular admits, especially given our small class size of 86. But hang in there if it's still where you want to go.
 
Is it safe to assume that if I was complete at the beginning of August and still haven't heard anything that I've been rejected?
 
I really loved my time at Stanford this week. Here's hoping! :xf:

When I was signing up for my interview, I saw a date open for mid february online. I signed up in the beginning of january.
