I also got an invite for Dec 9th!!! Mr. Maldonado also responded to my letter of interest telling me I will hear good news. He's aa very sweet and compassionate man.

However, I moved my interview to their last interview date of Dec. 16. I have 2 exams back to back that week. Will moving my interview date back affect my chance for a pre-match?

I sent a letter about a week ago...

I'll see you there. don't know what to wear yet. but i'll let you know so you can ID me.
awesome! are you by chance in the medsci program? i noticed you said you have two exams next week and well so do I!!

So those who will be at second look on the 16th...I'm assuming you're not all wearing suits right? Just business casual? I just got the schedule for the day, and it seems like we'll be with interviewees all day except for the interviews...

You could wear a suit and pretend you're interviewing, and say crazy stuff to freak out the interviewees while you're mingling with them.

No Way! You're a MedSci too? We need to private message so I can know who you are.

lol, that is so mean

I dunno...I was thinking just a dressy shirt and black pants and maybe heels just so I don't look too informal. After all these interviewees I'm sick of suits, so I just wanted to see what everyone else was gonna wear so I wasn't the only one. 😳

When I went for a second look I just dressed business casual and wore flat boots. The guys that were there wore shirts and slacks, but no jackets or ties or anything.

They aren't judging you, so don't stress too much!

does anyone know if there's a specific "open house" type of second-look visit day later on for everyone who has been pre-matched? or are all the second-look visits basically just following along on interview days? xD

For those of you that have already interviewed, is it likely that if my status has been "under review" for more than a month, I probably don't have a shot at an interview?

My dad also called me this morning saying I got a call from A&M but they didn't leave a message and when I tried calling back, it was a disconnected line...weired

Yay! Just found out I got a scholarship for all 4 years to drop me down to in-state tuition which is way less than I would have to pay where I have residency. I love Texas! A&M is definitely on my considering list now. 😀

Yes, they said there will be an official second look day in January. Filo said more information would be sent out on that after their last day of interviews this month, right before the holiday break.

Isn't TX awesome. Texas is by far the best state to live and work in.

I just checked your MD profile and it looks like you're set for med school. So many acceptances. I too did SMDEP but at UT-Houston though. Congrats!!!

I was interviewed mid october and haven't heard anything since, I'm OOS. I sent an email to the office of admissions and they basically said OOS admissions is rolling and I can expect to hear between now and end of May 🙁🙁🙁 . I was just curious, does anyone know if all OOS acceptances have been given and I'm waiting on people to decline? Any one know if Dec. 15th will mean anything for OOS applicants? I REALLY wanna go to A&M, it's my number one, but it's frustrating to know that even though my interviews went exceptionally well, I'm competing for like 10-15 spots in the class and I have no idea when I'll get some actual news.

I interviewed in Temple back in September, and I thought that Ms. Diaz said that the people who pre-matched to A&M would be able to have second looks/take tours of the other campus from where one interviewed. However, I did not receive any information mentioning such visits in my email or snail mail info sent out after Nov 15th... do you know any info about this?... were we supposed to contact the school and tag along on an interview day tour? Also, I heard a rumor that there might be additional 2+2 options for the class of 2015 (Dallas, Houston)... ?

Look a few posts up. email Amanda Watkins-Borths or Renee Galbreath.

I just spoke to Renee Galbreath (sp?) and she said there are three options available for a "2nd look" in College Station. Two are actual interview dates (Dec. 9th and Dec. 16th) and one is the official accepted students 2nd Look on January 5th. Major difference between the two options is that on the official date (January 5th), we will be given a tour of both hospitals. Whereas on the interview dates, we will only be shown one hospital. She stated you can email her with which date you will be attending and she will give you information regarding parking and what not. The school will also be sending an official email for the January 5th second look fairly soon.

hope that helps 🙂 👍

I just talked with admissions. Apparently today is the last day to hear if you will be invited for one of the last two interview dates. I hope to be one of the lucky ones. :luck:

I have seen on here though, that anything can happen so after today there may still be a chance, albeit a very small minuscule tiny chance for an interview. :xf:

Today huh? Well, I guess I've got another hour or so before I give up on A&M.

for those who have interviewed how long does it take for a&m to show up on your prematch options?

I interviewed on Dec 2nd (last thursday) and don't see anything yet, so didn't know long it usually takes.

Thanks

Hey Everyone,

I will be interviewing at A&M on Thursday, and this school is my no. 1 choice! Mr. Maldonado graciously replied to my LOI and offered me an interview. However, since I'm interviewing really late in the season and A&M has already taken up a good number of seats through prematch, I don't know how much of a chance I have for an acceptance!

I am a re-applicant, and I really hope I get in this year. I don't know how people normally ask for advice on here, but I would greatly appreciate any tips for the interview day!! 🙂

Thanks! 🙂

I'm interviewing on thursday as well and would like to second the above request. I'll be a little more specific, though, and ask if anyone would be willing to share who they interviewed with. PLEASE?😳

which campus are you interviewing at?

I'll be interviewing in Temple.
I interviewed at temple and had Leila Diaz and a 4th year medical student. The interviews at this school are pretty relaxed. I am a reapplicant as well and actually interviewed here last year but was waitlisted and thankfully accepted this year. I was a little scared that I had a 4th year medical student as my second interviewer but he was really nice. PM if you have any specific questions and will be more than happy to answer them 🙂

does anyone know if the interviews are open or closed file?

I thought, although I may be wrong, that UTHSCSA was the only Texas school with a closed file interview. Again, I might be wrong, but that's what I believe.

UTMB is closed file also.
I think Tech and Houston also might be...

The only school that mentioned my stats in interview was El Paso.

Yeah, El Paso is for sure open. I got grilled on some of my academic history! I think Lubbock is open I'm pretty sure since one of my interviewers mentioned my academic trend and stuff.

Houston's open. I think UTMB and UTHSCSA are the only closed ones. I didn't interview in Lubbock, though.

Edit: Oh, well bigtruckguy says it's open. Just those two then...

for UTSW, one is open and one is closed (typically one can figure out which is which)

I have a question for any medical students at A&M. How does having the HSC attached to the main undergraduate campus affect your lifestyle there? This is the only school in the state with this situation, correct? Does it ever get annoying that undergrads are rampant, and there is a lot of traffic during the two (undergrad) semesters? I was just curious...

I'm not a student here (yet), but I have something to contribute.

1) Texas Tech is also attached to its undergraduate institution. When I interviewed there I had a friend tell me there is virtually no traffic. The undergrad students cannot park on campus unless they have a really expensive parking pass, so apparently it is very clear of traffic in the morning because most students don't pay to fight for parking spots on campus.
2) My best friend lives in B/CS and I asked him this same question about traffic when I interviewed. He said the traffic isn't bad at all when school is in session. He said you might run into a very small rush during the hours of 9-11 or 2-3 when undergrad students like to schedule their classes, but he said it's always clear before 9 am. On my way to the interview, I found this to be true.

A&M opened a new building in August and I believe this current school year is the last year that classes will be held in the old building so that really won't be an issue anymore. This will make everything a lot more convenient in terms of parking, too.

thought i would never get the chance to type this on sdn but i got an acceptance!
i feel so blessed and excited!
