My friend and I interviewed on jan 6th, he got an acceptance call today...he doesnt post on here so i posted for him 🙂 lol ....i wonder if they're doing more calls tomorrow...

Tufts is completely closed tomorrow, but should be open Thursday for your interview. Hopefully your flight does not get cancelled, however.

Flight was cancelled.... I will call again today to reschedule though.

Hey all! So if Tufts is assumed to be closed does that mean no more phone calls today? I interviewed in January and I am dieing to hear back!

I also got the call a couple of days back from the dean. Interviewed 1/20

jweezy225- mind posting when you interviewed? have you received an email asking to update your contact info today as well?

I interviewed on 1/18, and I also received that letter yesterday (same day of the call) 👍

For those who were accepted, did you receive an update on the website you completed your secondary on , or an email...or was it just a phone call?

I received a phone call followed by an e-mail. Nothing on the website where I completed my secondary has changed, and I was accepted a couple months ago. So, there's really no reason to check your status online after your interview.

Still no deferreds getting in. Sad. They said wed hear by March right? guess were all lined up for WL. Someone said they heard of a reject post interview. That's the first I've ever heard besides the kid who asked his interviewer out.

I do not understand the purpose of deferring students if they are going to waitlist all of us anyways... Didnt they just accept/waitlist/reject students up until last year? Why did they even change the policy this year if they are going to reject or waitlist all of us who are deferred anyways?? It's extra work for them and it's giving us false hope...sigh.. I hope they actually do accept some of us who are deferred..

I just looked at the deferred message again and it says we can hear from them anytime between now and the end of May. I'd be pleasantly surprised someone got in from the deferred pool before the end of March, but I really doubt people will be getting in before the last group of interviewees are initially voted on. Two years ago they had an 'under active consideration' group which seems similar to this year's deferred group. No one got in until April I believe, but a few did get in. Not to be a downer for those who have been deferred (that's where I am and I would really love to go to Tufts), but I personally feel it is essentially a waitlist. My guess is a few people might get in before officially being put on the waitlist, but I think it's easier and likely more realistic to think of it as a waitlist and keep the expectations in line with that.

This is all speculation so of course please take it for what its worth. Maybe I'm falling on the pessimistic side of things because I waited it out on their waitlist last year and lower expectations have definitely helped me deal with the stress this time around. Good luck to everyone out there waiting on Tufts.

Do y'all think they're done with their phone calls for the week?

Has anyone gotten an acceptance letter in the past without receiving a phone call first? for those accepted did you receive an email of acceptance too?

I just got a phone call from the Dean at about 11 am ET...so presumably he's making more calls today.

Congratulations! And thanks for the info 🙂 I'll keep crossing my fingers.

Accepted!!!! Call at 3:30pm. Threw me off because it was a (617) number - was busy and almost didn't pick up!

did anyone receive a rejection yet at any point in the cycle?

Someone claimed their buddy got rejected post-interview. I think that's the only one I've heard of. My friends at the school say its rare to reject people post-interview. They tend to drag the majority of non-acceptances onto waitlist. There was VERY little waitlist movement last year. Check out the thread (someone made a Tufts waitlist thread because there was so many of us).

Just got the Deferred Decision e-mail...and now they are saying that: A final decision will be reached at any time between now and the end of May. I regret that I cannot be more specific in terms of predicting when our committee will reach a decision on your application.

Danggg...end of May is a long time from now....o well, hopefully I'll get off the florida schools waitlists by then, im trying to go back home 🙂

I like how they write "Please do not be discouraged" in the deferred decision email...lol

So abouuuuuuuuuut odd interviews. I decided not to ask the admissions formally for another interview. My friend said he told them about his experience, which I had a similar one too, (short interview), and they told him not to worry about it and that they will discuss it and get back to him. Sounds like they're not too receptive to asking for another interview, but at least acknowledge it and are going to talk to the interviewer and dean about the issue. He's a little nervous that he may have smacked the bee-hive, but at least it'll force the issue. Wish I had those guts, on one hand it shows you obviously care and forces them to talk about you, on the other hand, they have a 1000 kids post interview to pick from, the class is probably already full, and they are always looking for reasons to delete your file. Fun times! Debate!

O, and on the wait list thing, I looked at the last thread, there were like 2-3 SDN'ers who got off the waitlist, so its not impossible.

From what I've heard, I thought that Tufts actually accepted many people from the waitlist, not just a few. Personally, I know 2 TUSM students who applied last year and were accepted off the waitlist, and I don't think they happened to be the same 2 who posted their acceptances on last years thread. I know it sucks being waitlisted, but I don't think you should gauge your chances based on that thread

Do you know around how many people they accepted from the waitlist last year? I wonder how many people they are going to accept from those who are deferred this year... I would really love to go to Tufts.. sigh

Hey all!

I'm interviewing tomorrow and hope to see some of you there!

Any last minute tips from those of you with experience?

Don't sweat it. Make sure you know yourself and what you've put in your app, and relax.

And don't hit on your interviewer. 😉

I don't know how many they took last year...a friend who is an MS-2 says it seems like half his class was waitlisted. I have no numbers to support any of my claims, but from what I've heard, I do think that there is significant waitlist movement, even late in the cycle. I have another TUSM friend, an MS-1, who got in off the waitlist in mid-July. Hopefully you won't have to wait that long :xf:

"half his class" meaning half of the class that was enrolled in Tufts med school? or half of the class that was interviewed?? I would expect the latter but I would like the former to be true.. hehe. thanks for the info!

It has been so long since someone posted about an interview! Maybe they they sent them all out earlier this year..

Nope, they still have spots for the rest of this month and next month on nearly every Tuesday and Thursday. Just have to wait for now.

Interesting. As others have said, not many people have posted recently about receiving an invite here.

Congrats!🙂

Congratulations! Which day did you sign up for? I'm flying to Boston from California too. I chose the 17th.

I chose the 10th, as the next week is my finals week. Congrats to you too!

So, maybe you guys could give me some advice.

I applied to relatively few medical schools (4) due to money constraints and if I were being honest with myself, cockiness. Tufts is my number one choice, should they be willing to have me.

At this point I have not heard anything from them, although I called and was told they have looked at my application several times and have not reached a decision yet.

I sent in an update letter citing two scientific publications I was co-authored on since I had applied, but not a letter specificly to Tufts telling them how great I think they are 😍. My friend, a Tufts student, also sent me a letter of recommendation because she was told that they really love hearing from their current students about these things.

My stats are: MCAT 30, GPAs 3.69 GPAc 3.74

My question is: should I send a letter of continued interest at this point, or is it a lost battle?

Depending on when you submitted your application to them, it's possible that there is still a chance you'll be invited to interview. At the same time, as time progresses at this point in the year, there is a point when the law of diminishing returns kicks in.

Good luck with the other schools to which you applied regardless of Tufts' outcome. I would suggest you keep trying if you have the energy for it!

I'm curious, does anybody know if in years past the waitlist has been ranked or unranked?

Thanks you guys for your comments. I am feeling a bit bummed out by this whole process and the prospect of just starting it all over again in May leaves a bad taste in my mouth at the moment. Good luck to you as well.

Don't beat yourself up to much about not getting an invite yet, I have similar stats 32, 3.73cgps, 3.65 sgpa have publications as well and I have sent a LOI and STILL have not heard anything from them. We still have time but to be honest with ourselves we are on the lower end of who they would accept so my guess would be if we where to get interviews (which there is definitely a chance of) it would not be till later in the season (meaning from now till the end of interview season). There is still hope!

Does anyone know if they are still handing out MSTP interviews as well?

Their last interview day was actually Feb 9. The Jan 12 date got postponed twice due to snow . They said they'll have decisions out within two weeks with either an acceptance, high priority waitlist, low priority, or rejection.

so they are not deferring people now i guess...? I really wonder what they are going to do with all the deferred applicants...

They might still be deffering people, another batch will hear back near March 1st. That may be the transition point from deferred to waitlist, but who knows.

At some point we will all move to a waitlist unless a large number of people turn down spots early. I remember someone telling me they do, as of recent, rank their waitlist, at least in tiers, (high priority vs low); even if they tell you they don't.

I heard from someone associated with the maine track - tufts program, that the governer of maine was trying to kick tufts kids out, so that program may die out. They're trying to make their own bid for a med school I've heard. I also heard that some Tufts clinical sites have been dying off and they get sucked up by Harvard et al. They've been shoving large numbers of students into clerkships way out in western mass to balance.

Something to ask about when you get in (or if you're already in). That stuff makes me nervous (money wars that effect curriculum and over-stuffed clerkships).
