I wouldn't say that. You could be at the very top of the bottom third, and have a great shot. There's just no way to know right now. We have had at least one person so far move up to the middle third from the bottom, so there is still hope for you.

They seem to be moving pretty fast this year, so they could get to the bottom third faster and accept more people.

Not sure if anyone noticed this, but apparently there's been a tuition increase for 2011, since the tuition for 2010 was 18,800 shown here at http://www.smbs.buffalo.edu/ome/admission/admission_tuition.htm
and the tuition for 2011 is 24,850 shown here at http://financialaid.buffalo.edu/costs/medcost.php.....just saying as i'm still dreaming for this school

That $18,800 tuition is outdated by a few years. In-state first years in the class of 2014 paid $22,800 for the 2010-2011 tuition.

The increase to $24,850 for 2011-2012 is still a 9% increase over last year, though, so that is pretty significant.

I went to accept the spot on interactive graduate program and noticed something interesting.

When you look at the "status" tab, the date for the acceptance/admit was 4/14/2011 though I didn't see change in my application status until 5/03/2011.

Can anyone else confirm difference too?

So maybe it's worth a while to call them up and have them check for you too ^^

Yea I didnt get an interactive graduation application site. I just got a packet in the mail. How long did it take for the email to come in? I sent the check via snail mail anyways.

Awesome thanks! Did Mr Rosso say anything about odds of getting accepted if we are in the middle third? He was saying 50/50 a while ago, but just wondering if that had changed because they are accepting from the middle third now.

It's definitely higher than 50/50; if you look at previous years' threads you'll see they went through the mid third almost every year.

Hey jgonka, if you don't mind can you give me some insight into why you chose SB over UB? I fell in love w/ the UB program but the distance from family and friends is what's making my decision hard!

Also if anyone has any insight into either programs, I'll really appreciate it!!

I chose SB over UB for a couple of different reasons. One im from buffalo, and I wanted to move away and experience something new. Two i went to UB for undergrad and although i know i got an amazing education at UB im kinda tired of the campus. Also i really loved that SB is located in the hospital, I like the fact that just a couple floors away are actual patients. Also, the students at SB all seemed so happy to be there, and the impression that I got was that the everyone is really close knit there and they are like a big family. Also the administration at SB seems to be extremely supportive of their students, and listens to their needs and wants. SB also has a student run clinic which i really liked. As far UB med goes they are planning on incorporating their UB 2020 plan which means there will be making changes to the medical school. I do believe these changes will only further improve the medical school, but I do not believe they will be implemented in time for the class of 2015 to benefit from them. However, whether you end up at UB or SB one thing is for sure you will get a great education at either school. I say do what feels right for you. Best of luck!
