The study rooms are nice, I think, though they are a bit dark for me so I tend to go to the window lounge instead. Unless there's an impending exam, IQ rooms are usually pretty easy to snag. However, since they've been pre-reserving IQ rooms for interviews, they are a little harder to come by. The health sciences library (the one attached to school), is not open 24hrs, but school is. A not-often considered option is the undergraduate library across Euclid, the Kelvin Smith Library, is open 24/7 and is pretty sweet. It's where I like to hole up when I like to study. Both HSL and KSL have group rooms that can be co-opted by studious individuals, though KSL recently changed its policy on occupancy (I've no idea what they did).

KSL😍

KSL, the undergrad library, is freaking AMAZING! I have run into many med students there, as there's more space and it's open 24/7. After a certain time, only students can be there. All you have to do is flash your student ID and you're fine. The only thing they changed is the study room policy. Instead of being a free for all, you have to sign up for a study room at the front desk. Unfortunately, study rooms are not available after 8 or 9 pm as a result, since the front desk is closed.

Thank you both! That is incredibly helpful. I was fortunate enough to have a great library to study in during undergrad, and it is wonderful to hear that I will also have one in medical school. I pretty much live where I like to study, so it is nice to know I have a variety of excellent options.

During Second Look weekend, I assume we will get a much more extensive tour?

Also, are there any good weight rooms and work out centers on/very near campus? Do any of them have a steam room?? 😀😀

Thanks again for the help. It is incredibly appreciated.

The schools gym (Veale) and 121 fitness are literally right across the street from the med school. Veale is free for students, and has a weight room, cardio room, multiple gyms, indoor track, vollyball courts, tennis courts, dance studios, and pool.

You need to pay for 121 fitness, but its much nicer. More weights and cardio machines, plus free classes. Its a much smaller gym though, so it doesn't have much of what Veale has. However, I do believe they have a steam room 😀

1-2-1 does indeed have a steam room, though I have yet to try it out. Finally coughed up for a membership ($36/mo+tax, which is dirt cheap as far as gyms go), and it really is much, much nicer. It opens earlier and closes later than Veale. It also has showers and a usable locker room (unlike Veale). If you're a machines person, they've got those. If you're a classes person, they've got those too. Spend 30m there and they validate parking in Veale for up to 3 hours.

All of that is included in the membership fee.😍

Edit: They do not, however, have a track. But seeing as Veale's is right there, it's not an issue, unless you can't be bothered to walk the 200-300ft.

Edit edit: you get 4 free personal training sessions for joining. Membership is on a month-to-month basis, with no contracts. You can take a 3-month summer hiatus, if you like. Initiation fee is variable, but there are incentives throughout the year. I paid $50. People who sign up this month get $25 back for actually working out.

This is awesome. The personal trainers are great and will really work with you to find areas to improve upon.

Also, 121 has a great smoothie stand 😀

I literally have been day dreaming about being at Case... and then I remember I'm on hold. March cannot come soon enough! Thanks for the library details.. My favourite building.

I (neurotically) looked up the last couple years threads and saw that 2 years ago people were accepted from post-interview hold. Ohh the good old days...

Awesome! 👍 I am more of a free weights kind of guy (I played football during college and throughout most of my life). I use the steam room directly after my weight workouts, and you leave the gym feeling absolutely amazing. It really takes away soreness, and it helps relieve stress. I highly recommend checking out the steam room when you have time. Thanks again to the both of you!

Either gym will work for you then. I pay a 121 membership, only because the weight room at Veale is full of male athletes and I feel so self conscious 🙁

Men don't judge women by how much weight they can lift 😉 Plus, the gym is a great way to meet people! Anyway, I'm glad to know I'll be able to get me "swell on" when I go to Case

Sorry to change the direction of the thread, but does anyone know when we'll hear from CCLCM again?

Fellow Case SDN'ers, I have an important question to ask you.

Are any of you Metallica and/or heavy metal fans!?

:horns:🤣:horns:

I have tickets to see Children of Bodom soon, ackshually.

Yes!👍 that is awesome! I am going to need to find a fellow metal-head(s) to go to concerts with after I start at Case. I am going to a Megadeth, Motorhead, Lacuna Coil, and Volbeat show in a couple weeks.

😕 I haven't heard of most of those bands  I guess I'll just stick to my indie and electronic/house music...

Why hello applicants! Sorry I've been busy with school and things...We have a couple of more weeks of interviewing at CCLCM. As I have mentioned before, the next round of acceptances will be coming out around Valentines Day. At that time, I would look for at least some sort of response. I will have more info when the time gets closer.

sent from my phone

Can those of us who interviewed last year at CCLCM submit updates (manuscripts, the like)?

How important is it to go to Second Look weekend? I am nearly positive that I am going to Case, and I really want to go to Second Look. However, it will cost me darn near $500 to fly there and back. On top of needing to look at housing, how beneficial is that weekend? What does the weekend usually entail?

I'm in the same boat. I have a medical mission coming up that's putting me back $3,000 (which I can hopefully raise) and I won't be able to fly there either. :-( (donations for my trip are welcome from all). :-D

for a few months I've seen people on this thread ripping their hair out waiting for adcom meeting results to be posted.. to be honest, I kind of judged them all for being unnecessary worry worts.

adcom for my interview day meets today...i feel obligated to deeply apologize to all those people for my ignorance and misunderstanding. gaaah the waiting is brutal, i'm so anxious to get my yay or nay!

I interviewed on 1/23 so I'm in the same boat. If I see an email with iApply in the subject line I'll probably poop my pants, and, depending on the contents of the email, I might be ok with that.

You won't get the e-mail until tomorrow. The only way to hear today is by logging onto iapply. You can look at my previous post to see what time my status changed. Good luck!

The meeting started a little late today, but not that late, I think.

Literally laughed out loud at this - that makes two of us. Thanks for the input guys, I'll try to refrain from compulsively refreshing iApply for the next several days and just wait for that fateful email. Not very sure how she's gonna go for me, but I'll just be glad to find out!

I believe they come out the third week of February. vc7777 mentioned they'd be out around Valentine's Day so I'm going with that.
hmmm...pretty sure he said the adcom meeting is that week. The decisions will be out to the accepted applicants sometime within a week of the meeting.

Also, I think he said he would give more details when it gets a little closer. 😉

Ugh, is it that bad? I'm still waiting for tax info. Blech.

NeedAccess takes a long time and repeats a lot of questions. It also asks you many things you wouldn't ever think would be necessary. Yes, it makes your eyes bleed. I'd love to have my eyes bled if it means more aid though. 😀

Second Look is a courtesy and sort of a "best foot forward" by the admissions committee and the student body to welcome/convince you to come to Case. It is completely optional, and totally OK if you do not come. 🙂

Thank you very much! That helps a great deal.

Wow, first time being the top on the page. This is such an honor. I'd like to thank.... Juuuuuust kidding.

Remember, anything you may be even slightly suspicious about: it's a trap!

Thank you so much for keeping CCLCM hopefuls like me up to date! 🙂

Let me try to keep this thread going by asking another question.

If you are selected to apply for a merit scholarship, what are the chances of actually getting one?

This is a thing I have no data on, I'm afraid. And no, there are no visible stars tonight, which is a shame as it was brilliantly clear earlier today...
