thanks. I have almost completed it. I just need the nonscience and science GPA which I assume I can't get until my primary application is verified. =\
For the "Are there any areas of medicine that are of particular interest to you" question, would health policy be a reasonable answer or are they looking for something more along the lines of cancer, etc.?
Best thing - be honest and true to yourself. By trying to figure out what they "want" to hear, you might just come across as insincere.
They ask you what your most rewarding experience was or what accomplishment you are most proud of but isn't this exactly like the AMCAS "which activities were most rewarding" thing? I feel that I should pick something different so as not to just repeat myself, but then again won't that sound a little bizarre if I'm answering the same question two different ways? WHAT TO DO!?!?!
I just meant to clarify the question, not try to figure out what they want to hear. I wasn't sure if they wanted a biology topic or if they just meant what part of healthcare interests you.
Agreed. This new meaningful experience on AMCAS has really screwed things up, especially since many schools haven't fully updated their secondary application (Davis, Columbia, etc..).
If it helps at all, I'm running with one of my meaningful experiences, but going into more about how it was intellectually rewarding and new for me vs. the much more detail heavy stuff I had on AMCAS. Maybe I'm not a maestro of compact writing, but I couldn't figure out how to talk about a meaningful research experience on AMCAS where project details and level of involvement fit in 700 chars, and 1325 chars to say why it was important.
I hope we all get some slack this year because of the AMCAS change on this regard, heh.
Good luck!
Be aware of the difference in wording, though. "Most significant" as AMCAS asked does not necessarily mean "most rewarding," as JHU asks. Just hoping to clarify your good point on the detail-oriented vs. describing the reward aspect of the application.
I think you guys are reading way too much into it/being neurotic about this

FWIW, AMCAS actually reads "most meaningful experience." I agree with the others in that we shouldn't over-think this bureaucratic snafu. If you're worried that you'll sound repetitive, say so in your opening sentence (e.g., "Although I touched upon this experience in my AMCAS "most meaningful" essay, it . . ." [enter how it affected you in a different way or re-word and reiterate why it was so meaningful]). Just a thought for those of you panicking GL
All the activities want you to put an end date but what if you are still involved with most of the activities? It won't let me put present. What did you guys put?
I just left mine blank and it accepted that.I asked Admissions and they said to put the assumed end date.
So no one's having the same issue with the fee waiver process? I might just write to them.

Hey guys. Just a quick question. On the secondary app, I'm supposed to write my science GPA. does that mean BCPM or just BCP??? Thanks a lot!!!!
Do we have to send in a paper copy of our secondary in addition to the online submission?
I ask because while Google searching for this very thread I came upon the previous years' class and they were comparing dates of online submission AND paper hardcopy submission.
I feel like I've looked everywhere. Does Johns Hopkins have a maximum number of letters of recommendation you can send?
At other schools I've checked, if they don't list a max, then you can usually just send as many as AMCAS will let you.
is there really a meaningful difference between our community service and volunteer work, and our extracurricular activities? sure there can be extracurriculars that are not service-oriented, but how often will a service project not be extracurricular?
Also - what are people doing about the 'no hard returns' rule? How can you write a decent answer without using paragraphs?
thanks in advance for the guidance-

Hey fellow Yalie 🙂
I think you should write. When I emailed my waiver to JHU, I received a reply saying that it was processed, and I was able to submit my app without a fee.
I was asked to pay in one of the steps after I clicked Submit. It was $80.Unless I'm going crazy after working on so many apps, I don't remember paying my application fee for JHU... where did you guys pay this?! I would have thought they would have asked me to pay it before I got the above email...
What format was the photo that you uploaded? Mine was a JPEG inside a .doc.Also, in the "preview" pdf, did any of your photograph page say "QuickTime and a decompressor are needed to see this picture."?
I figured this might just be a problem on my computer's end (and JHU will see it just fine), and that if that's not the case, they will email me to ask for a photo again...

On the login page: "Note to re-applying students: If you have submitted an application for a previous year, you must create a new account and complete a new on-line application. You must also pay the application fee of $80.00. If you do not follow the appropriate steps, your application will not be reviewed by the Committee on Admission."My application has not been verified, but I received the email from JHU inviting me to complete the secondary. I had an account on applyyourself.com from last year, and when I logged in, I only saw my completed secondary application from last year. There is no link to the 2011-2012 application. Do I need to create a new account, or do I just need to wait until the new secondary becomes available some day?
Just got a complete email. So it begins...
+2. When do they start sending invites?+1
Lets hope we all get some Hopkins love! 🙂
