Just got a Maine track interview offer this morning. I selected a time-slot (I believe Jan 6th) and then I clicked save, and it then appeared to accept my selection but I'm not positive I'm not sure if someone sniped the last spot at that time before I saved it or if I sniped the last spot because then that spot appeared to be full. Is there any way to tell which slot you are currently registered for? When I refollow the link it doesn't show me anything besides the list of times again, and since most times are filled I don't want to select a new time if I got the Jan 6th slot. Any help is appreciated.

I thought that was a bit confusing, too, but I got an email a few days after I had signed up confirming my time. If you're really worried you could email Patti White - she was really nice and helpful.

It doesn't arrive right away, so wait until tomorrow morning to see.

Contact the admin assistant who was noted in the invite email. She should be able to confirm your time. I had the same question when I signed up.

My confirmation literally came within 24 hours so if you scheduled it yesterday morning, it should be in your inbox.

Same here! Definitely my top choice, but interview dates are booked until Feb =( Are you a Maine resident/undergrad?

I'm a Maine resident, did my undergrad in New York but I'm really hoping to get back to the east coast. What about you?

Maine resident, started my undergrad in NY but went back to Maine to finish. Nothing beats the east coast

Yayy! Stoked to get an interview here! Any other Maine residents with interviews or acceptances already?

Maine resident here! Interviewed mid-October, accepted 11/1.

PS fingers crossed for everyone waiting to get the call this week...:luck:

Nice! Congrats! My interview is only in January. I was curious as to how many already filled up acceptance spots.

Yeah sorry I have no idea. Good luck in January!

I understand that 12 spots have been filled prior to any December acceptances.

I wonder why nobody who interviewed has heard anything from Tufts since November 1....

My understanding was that the committee meets at the end of every month and extends some decision early in the following month.

That's awesome, congrats! Care to share your stats/residency?

Sure haha.

In an attempt to remain anonymousish:

GPA is < 3.2
MCAT is > 35

Not a ME resident, but lived in ME for 8 years and all my fam is there. Resident of a southwestern state.

I was accepted, too! I actually got the call in the middle of my UVM interview. Thankfully my phone was turned off!

Stats for any interested - GPA 3.98, MCAT 35, ME resident

3.97 science, 31 mcat, masters + post-grad experience, ME resident

Does anyone know if they email the waitlisted people, or if we are supposed to just assume we are put back in the pile for january if we don't get a rejection letter?

For the last round of acceptances in November, they called people they accepted on a Tuesday (same this month) and sent emails to people on their "deferred decision" list on Friday.

I guess I'd expect something similar this time around too for anyone who didn't get a call yesterday. But, of course, who knows

Yeah, assume that you are still in the game until you are out. But if you interviewed in Nov and didn't get a call yesterday, the chances are pretty good that you will be waitlisted for the Maine Track, so you know, plan accordingly. Waitlists suck, but tons of people get in off it. Best of luck!

Dude I just looked at your handle and lost my s#it. Do you have a '75 SG? Or is that just your dream guitar lol. Yeah, I am definitely starting a Maine track rock/metal band next year 🙂 Shred to live.

Got the scholarship letter in the mail today! Awesome - 50% tuition. That's what I'm talkin bout.

Congrats! Did it come in the packet Tufts said they were mailing out Monday, or did it come separately?

The letter comes separate from the packet that Tufts sends out with the general acceptance information. It took a little over 3 weeks from the day I got the acceptance call until the day I got the scholarship letter in the mail.

Okay, thanks! I did just get the packet today, but it's only been a week since I got the call, so I'll hold off on freaking out about not getting a scholarship for a little while. 😉

any decisions?

Sounds pretty quiet around here. But to be fair, I'll bet that 80-90% of the 30-something Maine Track spots have been given out by now. I'm sure there will be some action after May 15th, but it might be pretty quiet till then...

Come on man. Please try to think back to last year when you were waitlisted for this program. You're in the dark, tired, hanging on to any chance that things might go your way - fully realizing that this uncertainty could go on until the end of July. Do you really want to read someone on studentdoctor, in early January, speculating with zero grounds that 80-90% of the slots have been offered - with 3 more full months of interviewing remaining? Every little comment like that gets in our heads even though we wish it didn't. I know your intent isn't malicious but there's a time and place and audience to post your speculations!

Fair enough - I'm def not trying to step on anyone's hopes, and yeah, I know what it feels like to be hoping for good news in January. And yes, this is complete speculation, so take it for what it's worth i.e. very little - never take anything on SDN too seriously.

What I was trying to get across is that there have been a good number of offers made at this point BUT also that many of those people with offers will have multiple acceptances, and there will be a good deal of waitlist movement. In 2010 when it was January and I had no good news, that's when I started coming up with a backup plan, and honestly, I think that having a good backup plan has a lot to do with why I'm in this year. There's no shame in failing, AND it is too early to give up hope anyway, but not too early to start getting your ideas together for a good backup plan incase things dont work out.

So I apologize if I sounded callous - I guess all I'm saying is plan for the worst and hope for the best!

I would assume that there would be a handful of spots left. Since TUSM-ME generally offers acceptances on Tuesdays (as I understand it from this site), and last Tuesday was immediately following a Holiday and a week of the admissions office being closed, I would expect everyone who interviewed in December to hear tomorrow. To those waiting, good luck!

Amen. Don't burst my bubble a week before my interview. Well...can't expect much more from SDN.

Yes, there is no sense writing anything to discourage somebody else, because quite frankly, you have no idea what the admissions committee is going to do next.

My sincere apologies guys. I really had no intention of being a d***, and to those of you about to interview or waiting for news, I truly wish you guys the best of luck. Reading over that post, I see it came off as too harsh. I think I am just overly cautious and a little bitter about this whole process lol! As a reapplicant and someone who went through all the waitlist pain, I just want to encourage people to plan for the worst and hope for the best. And honestly, I am hoping for the best for you guys too - good luck in your interviews etc.

And yes, this is absolutely true- I have no idea what the adcom will do/is thinking. It was pure speculation, and probably an overestimate at that.

I noticed the only information for the interview is that it runs from 8-1:30 at Brighten Medical Center. Once you get to Brighten is it obvious where the interview is located?

You go to the Department of Medical Education, which is on the third floor. The elevators are pretty easy to find once you walk in, and then I believe there were signs on the third floor pointing to MedEd. It's one of the only things on the floor, so it's not hard to find.
