I've posted stats on this site before, so: OOS, and 3.9/39 and I was complete around the end of June

My AMCAS ID isn't working...any idea what I should do? It says invalid credentails

Was that for submitting the secondary or status check, cause I'm getting the same thing when trying to visit the secondary application website to just submit

got an invite yesterday for 9/7 😀

34, sGPA 3.84, IS
completed app 7/20

good luck everyone!

Yep, it was trying to submit secondary. I tried it again during regular office hours and it worked.

Interview Invite!

3.8/33 IS

Received an email. Submitted Secondary July 10th. I think it was the first one I completed.

3.9/37 out of state; interview invite 8/8, completed secondary 7/25.

Does anyone know (please be kind here, I have no experience in this area!): how flexible are interview dates? I'm a public school teacher and interviewing on a Wednesday is going to be beyond brutal. How flexible are medical schools in general/Buffalo specifically about this?

Admissions person told me that I am allowed reschedule once.

I'm interviewing at Rochester in about 5 weeks, do you think it is too soon to call Buffalo and see if they will interview while I'm "up there"? I was complete 8/8. I know there are 1 hr bus trips and it would make it easier than (hopefully) having to fly again.

Also, for those of you who have interviews...what days are they scheduled on?

They tell you what days you're scheduled to go. For me was September 21st.

Btw, still waiting on the interview information packet via snail mail. Does it include a list of student hosts?

seems to be taking a long time to be marked complete here...

The student hosting program isn't available until the month of october 🙁

Is anyone getting a "security error" message when trying to pay for the secondary?

Also, I already submitted it but it looks like I can submit it again... 😕 someone commented on this in the beginning of this thread... what's the deal on this?

This just in:

Feel free to try again in a few hours. Good Luck! You can submit our secondary application countless times. We only keep the most recent copy. Best regards.

UGH! I'm still getting error messages. Why don't they want my money?? lol 😛

Just to let everyone know: they do let you re-schedule once, but they only interview on Wednesdays. Good luck!

Application status page says that my application is complete. However, under current status it says "secondary application received"....i figured that that was implied when they said that my application was complete...i hope its not an omen and would really like an interview:xf:

I got an email saying I was put on hold. Does that mean there's a good chance I will get an interview or is this just another way of being rejected? Has anyone even gotten a rejection letter?

did you just get it (like today during the day or right this moment)? don't know if this is related, but a bunch of us just got SUNY Upstate hold letters...maybe the SUNY's are all at the same pace...

I applied last year, and was a very active poster on the 2010-2011 Buffalo thread. No one was ever put on hold last cycle, so they must have changed how they do things this time around. It's impossible to know whether it's good or bad. Anyway, best of luck! I've had just 2 days of classes, and it's been interesting so far.

Has anyone with an interview received the snail mail packet yet? Is there important information in it? I won't be back home till a day or two before my interview so I was wondering how important the information is.

Thanks!

Not too important. It gives you the same info about the interview that they sent via email. It says that student hosting is unavailable at this time and has advertisements for hotels near the school. It also has directions to the school, but you can find those online.

Interview on the 21st! Anyone else staying at Holiday Inn? Does anyone know if we can keep our luggage at Admissions or do I have to leave it at the hotel and return for it after 4:30? I'm catching a flight out at 6:50pm and would prefer not to return to the hotel after the day is over.

Thanks!

just a random question, but i'm starting to see people here (and at other schools) starting to be put on hold while others are still "under review" or in buffalo's case "secondary app received". i was wondering if anyone had any thoughts as to which one is better? like is it better to still be on review than on hold even though you were complete early?

I was wondering the same thing... does "secondary app received"= an indirect hold or am i just freaking out too much

The latter. Hold is probably 'worse' than nothing at all because the AdComs have then definitely reviewed your application but aren't immediately thrilled by it (that's not to say that you won't eventually get in) whereas a lack of communication may be nothing more than your file sitting on a desk waiting to be reviewed.

how does everyone have such a rediculously good gpa Y Y

I was wondering the same thing! I mean I'm super impressed with people who pull that off, but I'm hoping the reviewers get around to looking at the rest of us sometime, too! I actually took classes where none of the 20+ students got an A so maybe I don't stand a chance!

If anyone is having trouble paying for the secondary, try using Windows / Internet Explorer. Mac / Safari (one or the other, or both) didn't work for me. So that might be your issue too.

Interview invite! Complete mid-August.

Does anyone know what the usual mode of transportation is for getting from NYC to Buffalo? I have an interview in NYC the day before this one and don't know if I should get public transp. or fly.

Bus is about 7-8 hours each way and costs about $40 each way. I have seen flights as low as $100 RT but as high as $300+ just depends on your dates. You can also take the train but they are expensive, slower than the bus, and always delayed.

I personally don't mind the bus as I can sleep through anything but for others the bus is a painful experience.

Cool, thanks. I saw some flights on kayak for $100. Probably will be doing that. Bus would mean I'll be arriving close to midnight.

... Eventually they will run out of the 35+ crowd

That literally made me crack up! I'm gonna have to keep repeating that to myself: "They HAVE to interview other people eventually . . . They can't just keep inviting the 35-and-over's forever cause eventually, they're just gonna Run OUT!!"

i think this is the only school that requested me to send in copies of my permanent resident card. I applied last year and I didn't get an invite to invitation. Do they have a bias against non citizens? Also where should I send my stuff to? Is it this address?

OFFICE OF MEDICAL ADMISSIONS
State University of New York at Buffalo
131 Biomedical Education Bldg.

I call them but noone ever picks up =s
