Placed on "hold" post interview for University Track. This sucks 🙁.

I thought that we would also take an nbme style exam for our benefit only?
You should get a UP student to confirm, but I'm pretty sure that they are required to take those exams. CCLCM students are not required to take any exams.

Who are you to say that just because your numbers are better/you have publications that your overall experiences and application are more worthy of an slot anywhere than this person? "Must be nice being a URM" implies that he's gotten something that maybe he didn't deserve and you DID just because he's able to put that down on his application. It rings not only of bitterness, but of misguidedness and ignorance.

Check yourself, dude. Good luck with the rest of your cycle.
Just ignore him. He's been making these douchebag comments all along, and there's no point in derailing the thread by arguing with him. You're not going to teach him anything.

Hey guys!

1st time poster in this thread but I have a quick question:
I got a CCLM interview. 🙂 Does that mean that this interview will count for both College and University track or are they two completely different processes?

Thank you!
Completely different processes with different admissions offices, different interview days, and different adcomms. Congrats on the invite, and hope you enjoy your visit to the Cleve. 🙂

Put on hold post iterview. 🙁 does case really accept more than one or two from hold?

Just got an interview to Cleveland Clinic. Can anyone explain what the group activity involves?

Basically a competition where your interview group is given an ethical dilemma, and all the applicants give the same answer reworded about 50 different ways to see who can chime in the most often.

I won because I brought actual chimes.

'tis true! But I think the best way to stand out is instead of making yourself look good, try your best to make everyone around you look good.

I am sure that you have a very impressive set of chimes, and I'm sure they come in handy during group activities.... I just don't think that's the message we want to send. People always ask us what pbl is like and this is the best thing we can do on interview day to have you guys experience it. there are no winners and there are no losers.

In all honesty, I thought my group had a really great discussion, especially considering the pressure we were all under that day. And I didn't get a competitive vibe; I remember being told fairly explicitly that our performance was not being judged, which I think the group took to heart. The activity definitely sold me on PBL at CCLCM, and I was initially skeptical of PBL in general.

I just can't resist a good chime joke.

On my day someone asked if the pbl session was judged and the student guide said "you're judged on everything on interview day." I think it put everyone on edge in my group.

My group was not told this... it didn't help that the faculty person supervising us was furiously scribbling notes on her sheet with our pictures as we talked. As I said earlier, it felt just like another hoop to jump through on interview day, which led to a boring discussion with people elbowing to see who could say the most stuff in a short amount of time...which did not really lead to a quality discussion. I also did my best to get as much in as possible, but ultimately it was a question with a very obvious answer, and just led to the same stuff being repeated over...and over... and over again. I actually wrote on my feedback sheet that I thought it was a dumb way to demonstrate to us what PBL is about. I had my UP interview the day before, and they let us watch a PBL group of first year students in action. I enjoyed this much more.

Huh. I had a good feeling about it, but I guess I'm the odd one out. Maybe my hyper-caffeinated brain heard what it wanted to hear. Or is remembering what it wants to remember.

On my interview day, we were definitely given the impression that we were being judged during the group activity, and we also had a faculty member taking notes on us. I actually kind of enjoyed the activity, and I think it helped me to loosen some of my nerves before the interviews. But by the time it was over, I definitely felt exhausted since the day had already been so long with the tours, curriculum talks, etc. Didn't help to begin my interviews feeling like the day should have already been over, lol.

Some of the admissions staff (Dr. Franco?) were out of town for my interview day. Maybe the different feeling I got was a result of the interview day being run by a different person.

In the CCLMC interview invite Ms Franco mentions the opportunity of a "special meeting with students". What does she mean by that? And for those who have gone through the interview before, do you recommend it?
Thank you!!

I (perhaps stupidly) didn't apply to CCLCM, but I just had to say this sounds like the most awful thing in the world. I would probably have a similar reaction.

Does anybody remember when the final cclcm round of decisions is supposed to come out? The suspense is killing me! Thanks!

They told us in March sometime. I'm trying to stay focused on other things- its a long wait from when I interviewed earlier this month!

From my understanding of the information given during the interview, the second batch will come out around mid-February.

All subsequent acceptances thereafter will be given as people withdraw their acceptances.

Just checked my status today. Put on pre-interview hold. Submitted 11/2, complete 11/5. Letter dated 1/17. They say they'll get back to me by March 15, but I'm not holding my breath. 3.44 sGPA, 3.47 cGPA, 35 MCAT, OOS. Lots of clinical experience and volunteering.

Bump!

Also, I am concerned about the snow and high heels. In previous posts someone suggested flats. Should I wear them the entire time or bring them with me to wear during the tours? Is it okay to switch shoes like that? 😀

Thank you!

Does anyone have an insights or "facts" on how the Case Western and Cleveland Clinic adcoms interact with regard to applicants to both programs? I recall reading that CW reviews or even approves??? Cleveland Clinic applicants. So I am curious as to whether CW will accept an applicant prior to a decision by the Clinic. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

During my interview day, most of the admissions staff were not around but we got to meet with students at various points in the day. I did not feel the need to meet with more students afterwards. You will have lunch with students, an interview with a student, a tour with a student, day wrap up with students too (at least that's what we had).

About heels, I packed a pair of flats but did not end up needing them at all. The tour can be long but if you have comfortable heels you will be fine. The whole tour is inside - everything is connected by skywalks.

So true. I ran out of questions to ask before my interviews even started.

I really don't know much about this, but CW accepted me before Cleveland Clinic made a decision on my app.

Have any of you who have been accepted to UP received any Financial Aid info? In the update they sent 2 weeks ago, it said the financial aid application will be made available mid January.

I haven't received anything else other than that email.

Nada 🙁 Do you know if we have to have our FAFSA filled out soon? I haven't even received my W2 yet for taxes.

Hi, new poster. Anyone interviewing and want to share a taxi to the Airport? PM me.

I was wondering if anyone knew how many they interview for CCLCM. Does anyone know?

I think someone said 250 earlier in the thread? With an acceptance rate of ~15-20% depending on the number of withdrawls

I remember them saying that they interview about 10 % of all applicants, so ~ 200-250 people is correct. So yes, there is a very steep cutoff even after the interview to get to a class of 32.

Can anyone else confirm this? It seems a bit unreasonable...

I'm sorry that you feel we are being unreasonable. On the bright side, really percentages mean nothing: you can't turn them into probabilities. To say that every interviewee has an equal "chance" is what's "unreasonable". Those ten percent had a much higher probability! If we "re-ran" the interview season over and over again, I would bet most of the same people would have been chosen again and again - so their probability is more likely approaching 80%. And of course there are applicants with 0% probability of getting in too.

I like you but :uhno:

somebody's had a few to many hits with the biostats book.

For those on the CCLCM "High Hold" list, does anyone know if applications will be re-reviewed prior to April 16th and if any acceptances off of the list will be given out before this time?

After the December batch of acceptances, the CCLCM Adcom usually sends out another batch of acceptances in February or March. I am guessing that when the Adcom is meeting to decide who to accept in February or March, in addition to going over the applicants who interviewed after December, they will probably go over the applicants placed on High Hold (and maybe Hold as well). Of course, this is purely speculation.

Just got placed on hold UT, interviewed early January.

Also put on hold. I had a great faculty interview, but my student interviewer had no idea what she was doing. Glad to know some rich ivy girl probably kept me out of my top choice school.

I was also placed on hold for the UT track after interviewing in late January.

First, congratulations to all the people who received acceptances!

Second, I've browsed through a bit of this year's thread and last year's thread to gauge what being "on hold" really means. But I'm still not quite sure. Are there actually any people who are rejected post-interview? Or does everybody who wasn't accepted immediately get placed on hold?

Also, based on last year's thread, it seemed as if CWRU was being rather conservative with their acceptances into February. Does anybody know what the status is like for this year? CWRU's my top choice by far, and I'm feeling pretty dejected that I was placed on hold - I felt as if I had a good faculty interview and a good student interview.
