I was also placed on hold for the UT track after interviewing in late January.

First, congratulations to all the people who received acceptances!

Second, I've browsed through a bit of this year's thread and last year's thread to gauge what being "on hold" really means. But I'm still not quite sure. Are there actually any people who are rejected post-interview? Or does everybody who wasn't accepted immediately get placed on hold?

Also, based on last year's thread, it seemed as if CWRU was being rather conservative with their acceptances into February. Does anybody know what the status is like for this year? CWRU's my top choice by far, and I'm feeling pretty dejected that I was placed on hold - I felt as if I had a good faculty interview and a good student interview.

I sympathize completely with you. This school is definitely my top choice. My faculty interviewer straight up told me: if you don't mess up this interview, you're getting in. I don't think I messed up it: HOLD 2 weeks later.

I did tons of research about the hold list, and from what I gathered from previous Case Western threads is that a few people may get off the list before May (around February), but most movement happens in May. I never saw anyone get rejected post interview on any thread.

And this isn't a waitlist yet. We actually have to pass a screen later to get onto the waitlist. So basically, more and more waiting...

Thanks for the info. From what it sounds like, not many people end up making it off of the hold list.

In any case, May feels so far away...

Congrats....Was the acceptance news via email? Or the iApply?

When does Case offer scholarships to accepted students? Is it in the acceptance letter itself?

Congrats....Was the acceptance news via email? Or the iApply?

I got an e-mail advising me of my acceptance and then directing me to iapply to review the posted letter. Thanks! Hopefully there will be more good news for everyone else!

I won't go so far as that guy, but I also had a bad student interviewer... just had a bunch of prepared questions written on a piece of paper, and made no effort to make a normal conversation. Oh well, can't win them all.

Anyone know how fast they rank you internally after an interview? I was there on the 25th and now that I'm seeing hold list/ acceptance messages my attention is glued to the inbox.

They post on their twitter when the admission committee meets and which interview dates they review.

My group was not told this... it didn't help that the faculty person supervising us was furiously scribbling notes on her sheet with our pictures as we talked. As I said earlier, it felt just like another hoop to jump through on interview day, which led to a boring discussion with people elbowing to see who could say the most stuff in a short amount of time...which did not really lead to a quality discussion. I also did my best to get as much in as possible, but ultimately it was a question with a very obvious answer, and just led to the same stuff being repeated over...and over... and over again. I actually wrote on my feedback sheet that I thought it was a dumb way to demonstrate to us what PBL is about. I had my UP interview the day before, and they let us watch a PBL group of first year students in action. I enjoyed this much more.
You totally missed the point, man. :smack:

Does anyone have an insights or "facts" on how the Case Western and Cleveland Clinic adcoms interact with regard to applicants to both programs? I recall reading that CW reviews or even approves??? Cleveland Clinic applicants. So I am curious as to whether CW will accept an applicant prior to a decision by the Clinic. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
The adcomm decisions are separate, but yes, the UP adcomm does review the CCLCM adcomm decisions and agree to the CCLCM acceptances. I have never heard of the UP adcomm nixing someone the CCLCM adcomm had voted to accept though. From the other side, yes, the UP adcomm does sometimes accept people before CCLCM makes its decisions on the same people.

He shouldn't have told you that. He's one person on an adcomm of dozens of people. One person can't ever guarantee that someone will get in.

Accepted to the university program! Still waiting on CCLCM decision though. Interviewed early December.

Has anyone gotten an ii recently? I went back about four pages and couldn't find any...Case is still handing out interviews (UP), right?

Does Case accept post-interview updates? And would I send it to the iapply email address?

February has arrived; the month of judgment for CCLCM interviewees is here. Good luck, everybody! The waiting is almost over.

Except, of course, for those of us who are ultimately wait listed.

Does Case accept post-interview updates? And would I send it to the iapply email address?

Yes, they do. I'm not sure how to update but maybe a letter wound be good...snail mail to show enthusiasm. I updated that way and it was a success.

This is from iapply.case.edu:

Updates to University Track and College Track applications are accepted from:
  • Applicants whose files have been reviewed but are being held for a final decision
  • Applicants to whom interviews have been offered
  • Applicants who have been interviewed and whose applications have been placed on hold
University Track updates should be sent to [email protected]
College Track updates should be sent to [email protected]
Updates to the MSTP are accepted for all application statuses. These updates should be sent to [email protected].
ONLY ELECTRONIC UPDATES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

So yes, you can send an update post-interview, and it should be by email according to their website. 🙂

I interviewed for CCLCM and I have my UP interview coming up. However, I am considering withdrawing from my UP interview. CCLCM remains my top choice do you think this will affect my application?

Anyone know if applicants initially placed on the high-hold list can receive an acceptance this month? or will we only be re-reviewed once all other interviewees have been looked at?

I thought I heard earlier in the thread or from the interview day that hold status will be updated in March with Accept, Placed on the waitlist, Rejected

Doubtful...the admissions processes are separate for the two programs. And plenty of people apply to one program but not the other, with success.

Do you mind saying what time interview day was over, before or after 3PM?

I was one of the earliest to finish up, and I think I was done around 3:30, others weren't done until after 4 though, it just depends if you have only 1 or 2 interviews in the afternoon and what time they are scheduled for.

I just got an ii, but I'm wondering if i am interviewing for the waitlist or for actual class spots. If its the waitlist, i'd really rather not wate my time or theirs, and i'd rather give the spot to someone else.

If someone is on the post-interview hold list for CCLCM, and not the "high hold" list, does that mean the possibility of an acceptance is slim to none?

Also, are there any straight out rejections post-interview for CCLCM, or is everyone who is not directly accepted placed into one of the hold lists?

From what I've gathered, being placed on a High Hold means you will be reviewed for acceptance continuously until they have filled the class. Being on the regular hold means you won't be reviewed until there is only one wait list. A single waitlist is generated much later in the cycle when the entire class is full. The single wait list/alternate list is comprised of those who were initially placed on high hold and on regular hold. A current student (VCC) claims that they use a more holistic approach in accepting applicants at this stage. It makes sense if they want to diversify their student body and accept a "different" type of applicant.

And yes, there have been reports of post-interview rejections, albeit very few.

Take this information as you will, I am citing the 2011-2012 thread for my information.

I am post-interview for CCLCM (interviewed in Octiber) and I have received zero status updates, so it is also apparently possible to be neither on hold, rejected, nor accepted.

Did you check your iApply page? I didn't get an email about a status update. It was just there.

I just checked my iapply, on hold for CCLCM - interviewed January.

edit: is this 'high hold' or just regular? Status was a little confusing for me: "You have been placed on our "Hold List". This list consists of highly qualified applicants, some of whom will be admitted as the application process unfolds. We try to keep our applicants fully informed about the admissions process, and we will inform you immediately if your admission status changes."

Ah that sucks, I bled my heart for this place on interview day. Good luck to the rest of you.

I got the update as well. I was placed on "high hold" for CCLCM.

Here's to more waiting! This program would be amazing!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm out of the running. Just got a "no interview invite" letter in my iApply, which is exactly what it sounds like 🙁

Good luck to the rest of you!

High hold for me in the status page! Does anybody know what the chances are of being accepted from high hold?

I interviewed 10/25. Just called the admissions office; apparently, my file hasn't been reviewed by the committee yet.

That's weird. I have a friend that interviewed with me in early December and she got her decision in January. Meanwhile, I still haven't gotten any decision and you who interviewed even earlier haven't even gotten your file reviewed?

I agree that it's odd, but I'm not too keen about calling again, as the folks on the other end did not seem very pleased that I called. I'm sure I'll get a decision eventually.

Hi, I interviewed on January 25th for CCLCM and still have not heard back. Is anyone on the same boat as me? I thought our results should be coming back around this time. I just checked iapply and there was nothing.

Just in case anyone missed it, this was posted today by Case's Admissions on Twitter about 3 hours ago: "CCLCM Ad Com today. University Track Ad Com on Monday. Will be reviewing interviewees from Jan. 25, 28, 29, 31, Feb. 1, 4 and 5."

Sweet, does reviewing mean they will get back to us and that the decisions have already been made? Or does it mean they are going over the applications and telling us at a later date?

Specified are the times when the committee meets to review and make decisions on the applicants. The decisions are released shortly thereafter (usually the following day for UT, not sure about CT).

If you had read just a few posts up, you would have seen that I interviewed October 25 and I have not received any updates. You have not been waiting very long. And, I'm pretty sure the dates on Twitter refer to UP, not CCLCM.

Seems to be somewhat sporadic, as I interviewed in early January and already heard back (high hold). I didnt get an email though, only a new letter on iapply.

Indeed. My application seems to have taken extra long pretty much everywhere this season, for whatever reason. I know some places put files in groups based on geographic location. Maybe Alaska is stuck off to the side all by its lonesome.
