Is there any way to tell from the secondary page whether or not a decision has been made on your acceptance post-interview?

people have said that when your letters of rec disappear, a decision has been made. and you can call to find out instead of waiting for it via snail mail.

Some of you said a while back that you got post interview emails asking you to send an update, and then after sending an update you were accepted. You're not talking about the post interview survey emails, right?

Does anyone know how to pay for the $100 deposit online? I activated my account and everything but I can't find where to go to pay for it. I also tried calling but the office is closed due to the snow storm. Thanks!

I think that is really great advice. So why did you pick Creighton over your state school?

PS thank you everyone for answering. Your responses were all extremely helpful. GOOD LUCK

Sorry for the delayed response. The biggest thing the drew me to CU was the way that the administration and faculty care about their students. For instance, a couple weeks ago one of the M1s that sits up near the front fell asleep in lecture. After lecture, that professor emailed the student and told him to make sure he took some time off and got some sleep. The fact that the professor even knew his name and on top of that took the time to email him about being balanced is not something that you see at a lot of med schools. The people in the academic affairs office know every student by name (I've never even been in their office, and when I walk by them in the hall, they greet me by name). That stuff speaks volumes. I haven't seen that at any other medical school (I'm sure there are others though). In addition to that, I appreciate the hybrid curriculum that CU has. M1 semester 1 is front loaded and kinda sucks, but the frees us up to start systems half way through our second semester. Since systems is really what is important clinically, I appreciate that we start it a 9 weeks before a lot of other schools. Also, Pass/Fail is huge. We still have honors for the top 10%, but the noncompetitive nature is pretty awesome here. The pass/fail, along with the non-competitiveness creates an environment where we can compete with ourselves and not have to worry about what everyone else is doing. Also, CU tends to do well in the match (http://medschool.creighton.edu/medicine/admin/staffairs/residency/match/index.php). Last year, 17 out of 119 (~14%) students matched into a ROAD specialty.

That is all I can think of right now. Feel free to ask any questions and I will try to respond in a more timely fashion.

Does anyone know (from past experience or if they have any insight on creighton's application process) if an interview this late is most likely for the waitlist or are there (believed) seats left?

Who sits in the front and falls asleep? If you know you are gonna fall asleep just sit in the back or not go to class haha

That got me through undergrad pretty well haha

Rejected today pre-interview. Creighton seems like a nice school with quality students and faculty. Best of luck to all of you as you begin your professional journey at Creighton! 🙂

Quite a few people get in every year with late interviews (February and March). It's mainly because it's a private school with kind of high tuition so a lot of people that are sitting on multiple acceptances at state schools now end up withdrawing late in the cycle. This is one of the main reasons for the high number of acceptances given out. It's listed somewhere earlier in the thread but I think its like 400 out of the 700 who interviewed get accepted at some point. AKA it's definitely worth going to the interview. They wouldn't be spending the time and money to interview people if they aren't willing to to accept some more

Interviewed Feb 1. Seems like another batch is about due for committee this week, no? Fingers crossed!

If anybody wrote an update/LOI, who did you address it to? I've read that it's better to address it to a person rather than the admissions committee in general. Thanks!

Dang, wish I would have known this...I addressed it to the Admissions Committee. Garland Jarmon is the director of admissions, and Dr Thomas Quinn is the assistant dean of admissions, so I'd say those would work! I wish I would have thought of this😀

ACCEPTED!! First one, I'm so happy! Interviewed 2/1, letters disappeared, so I called in, and BOOM goes the dynamite.

congrats!! Did your update section disappear too? I interviewed that day also. The suspense is killing me!😀

No, the update section is still there. If your letters disappeared, I think it means that they made a decision. I got an email after I called in as well.

I called maybe 20 mins before my letters disappeared and they said no decision yet. Now my letters are gone and im like 😱

Hopefully we'll be classmates!

Accepted as well via email! Good luck to everyone still waiting.

For someone who has recently interviewed / not heard a decision, do you recommend submitting post-grad grade updates before or after a decision for waitlist/accept has been made?

Jinxed it...waitlisted. Congrats to you guys who got in! I'm going to do my darndest to jump in from the Alternate pool!

I figure ita probably tough to move out from Alternate this late, but im sure going to try.

I recommend sending it in asap, before the decision. Because once they make a decision and it happens to be a waitlist then you won't get looked at again until mid-May. This way it will play a factor in the outcome.

Completely agree, that's what I did

Thanks for the responses -- What aboot if I sent an update around december with stellar grades in my post-bacc program but since that last update have kind of hit a slump in terms of grades (still not terrible)? Same thing to show interest?

Don't mention the grades, talk about your other updates.

I always thought that the update should be in the format of a formal business letter, but when I looked at Creighton's website, they want you to upload various topics independently. How did you guys do this? I guess I'm confused...are you supposed to just make a list in a word document of updates related to that topic? And upload like four or five documents, instead of one letter? Help please 🙂

That's what I would do specifically for Creighton. All other schools I just wrote a letter to like you described.

Does anyone know if an acceptance to Creighton needs to be responded to within a certain period of time? (e.g. 2 weeks?). I saw the 2 week requirement for some other schools and was quite surprised. I thought we have until May 15th to decide?

Thanks!

I think you just need to put the $100 deposit down and send your forms by 10 business days after the date on the acceptance letter they send you. If you matriculate, the $100 goes to tuition, if you drop before May 15th, they refund it, and if you drop after May 15th, you lose the cash.

Oooh makes sense! Thank you 🙂

Woah my letters are gone, and I didn't even know until now lol

From reading through this thread, that seems like good news! So is this the general consensus:

Once the letters disappear, a final decision has been made on your application. Since Creighton doesn't really initially reject, the only final decision to be made is an acceptance, as your application would still be under consideration if you are waitlisted. Is this correct?

Also, when was your interview date? Thanks!

That's how I understand it as well

I interviewed Feb. 8th.

I guess I'm a little confused. I interviewed the week after, and the way I understood it is 4-6 weeks after the interview we would get some form of correspondence, be it an acceptance or an under consideration letter. Do you mean to say if my letters don't disappear, then it just means a final decision hasn't been made yet, and I'll still get some sort of notification within the 4-6 week timeframe? Or that if my letters don't disappear, I will be kept in the dark until interview season is over? Sorry if I'm stressing anyone out, still waiting on that first acceptance.

I was originally on hold and my letters were still there. They disappeared a week later, after they accepted me. I believe a waitlist also makes your letters disappear.

Yeah any decision -- rejection/waitlist/acceptance -- will result in one's letters disappearing.

I'm honestly expecting a waitlist. I've always got backup plans to keep me busy anyway, so I'm not really stressing. Unfortunately, I'd have to wait two application cycles from now to reapply, but it'd obviously be nice if I could go this year 🙄

Thanks for the reply, that cleared it up for me. Was your hold notice snail mail or email?

Email. I got it on a Thursday. It was a slightly different case for me - I also got a call from my interviewer because they wanted more information about some of my activities specifically. I sent in an update the next day. The following Thursday (one week later) I saw my letters disappear. I called and was told I was accepted. I also got a call from the dean with that acceptance. I received my acceptance packet in the mail about a week later. They will only tell you about acceptances (not waitlists or rejections) over the phone.

Hopefully that helps everyone.

Ha! Well, I know they would have no way to call me 🙄
But then again, I never got an email, so I'm banking on a waitlist like I mentioned earlier 😏

Or wait... did you receive an email when you were accepted? It appears from your posts that you only received an email to notify you of your hold status.

For all those on the waitlist (or anticipating being waitlisted), there will be one more spot opening up in next year's class since I have withdrawn my acceptance. Best of luck to all those accepted and still waiting to hear!

Best of luck to you!

So, where in Idaho are you from? Anywhere around Coeur d'Alene by chance? 😛

Hey I would give it another week or two.. Last week the 2/1 people were hearing back so I don't think 2/15'ers would have heard just yet. Looks like next week the 2/8 people will hear back
