I can login just fine. Have you been able to log on before? I don't think that the committee necessarily meets on the 15th of the month, just that decisions usually go out on the 15th (please correct me if I'm wrong). In the past people have gotten acceptance a day or two after the 15th and their letters were mailed on the 15th, I don't think the committee would meet on the 15h and mail out letters the same day. Also, I don't believe that once you're accepted you will be able to see online, I think you have to wait for the letter. All you will see is "Under Consideration."

Yes I've logged in before...not sure what is going on. Yes, I believe applications are sent out to committee members on the 15th, they make their decisions, and then letters are mailed on the 15th. & yes you're probably right about online status

It's prob a tech problem, hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Are you sure about this? What do you mean by "applications are sent out to committee members?" I thought they all meet and discuss applicants together. I'm not challenging you, I genuinely want to understand how the process works at IU. Not that it really matters either way, but I have this neurotic need to know the details of exactly how my future is being determined lol.

The way it was explained to me, the committee actually does meet on the 15th, Since acceptances are just form letters with your name at the top, it seems possible to get letters out same day. Even if they are mailed on the 16th, most people in the state would get them by the 17th I'd think.

You're correct, Irish, the status does not change from "under consideration" even when you're holding the acceptance letter in your hand. Sorry guys, I haven't found any way that you'll get an advance notice of a decision. The background check email came for me today and I got my acceptance letter in late September, so that's not an indicator either. It's pretty much a whole lot of silence until that letter arrives. Just try to be patient and think happy, positive thoughts. :luck:

The admissions office was probably getting calls about the online status. I just checked my status, and underneath "Under Consideration" it now says;

"Under Consideration simply means that you are eligible for review by the Admissions Committee. This status will not change until a final decision has been made. Everyone will receive a decision by June 1."

This seems to imply that the status will change once a decision has been made, although maybe this doesn't change until a while after they mail the letters, so that the letter will be someone's first notice of acceptance/rejection.

II on wednesday 10/10, 3.9, 34 OOS.

Very excited and a bit surprised, just finished sending out all the required information yesterday.

Fingers crossed!

I was hoping someone could clear something up for me that I was a little bit confused about. Does the campus lottery happen after students are matriculated, or after they are accepted?

This thread is way too quiet for mid-october. It's almost acceptance season people!

After acceptance. In years past, rank lists went out in January to those who were already accepted, so the sooner you're in, the more likely you'll get one of your top choice placements.

Anyone got info on how long it took for them to send you the interview date after sending in the materials? Or how to check the status to make sure they received them?

fairly sure- check your inbox- I tried to explain what I was told over the phone 🙂

I know that Indiana does not do rolling admission but do they typically review applicants post interview in order of their interview date? Or is it random? I missed most of the session about the school and this process because my interview went longer than expected.

I would like to know this as well. Please and thank you 😀

Well got the email today (exciting!) but of course it is scheduled for the day I have both a biochem and neuro final. Did anyone else have to ask for a different interview date? Or should I just skip the finals and hope IU accepts me on the spot for my commitment 🙂

What date did they give you for the interview? And when did you receive the initial email asking for the supplemental information? I'm still waiting for my interview date and got the initial email the second week of Sept

Check your portal, it might have the tentative date listed already.

I did, it said there's no upcoming interviews scheduled. that's why i'm wondering how long it takes to get a date, and approximately when the interview will be

Not exactly sure but maybe 4 weeks? I don't remember when I sent them but it was just after I received the ii (which is in mdapps). Sorry not more useful now because cramming for a test now

I think mine was around 4 weeks.... but my portal updated with a tentative interview date before I got the official email.

It's basically random. On my interview day, they said that the committee meets and goes through as many in the pile as they can get to, but that an applicant who interviewed in October could end up not being discussed until spring just because of the volume of apps to go through and the fact that they only meet once a month. So, no news is good news because you're still under consideration.

Your profs won't let you reschedule the exams? I'd be trying for that scenario before rescheduling with IU, assuming IU is one of your top choices. Then again, maybe I've just had very flexible profs.

I rescheduled my interview first due to conflict with another interview, then I was assigned an interview date that again was in conflict to another interview, which the school does not allow to reschedule. Now I cannot reschedule the IU interview a second time.

How long does the interview last if I just go to the interview at 9:30, and can I skip the other sessions?

The other interview is about 2 hour away and starts around noon.

In my experience, it doesn't really matter if you go to the other sessions. There was no attendance being taken at either the financial aid/informational sessions.

I think you'd be fine if you left after your interview at IU. I think they're supposed to last 30 minutes but mine went over; it was almost an hour.

Thanks a lot! What is the format of the interview? one panel interview? two one-on-one interviews? One one-on-one interview?

Did anyone hear anything today? With regards to decisions, of course.

Thanks for the advice. Just talked to the prof and I'm good to go! Also the above poster who rescheduled to another date that wasn't any better scared me into asking haha.

Anyways, Indiana here I come! In a month actually (Nov. 14). Anyone else interviewing at Gary on this day?

Nope, and I know that it will be my luck that they won't get to me during this first review (even though I interviewed the first day, 9/5). I'll probably have to wait another month, or two, or three, or forever....🙁

You're an Indiana resident with a 35 MCAT and early interview. You have a much better shot than most of us here; I'd be pretty surprised if your acceptance letter hasn't been posted today.

Anyway, they probably just mailed out letters, I'm assuming.

Hope you're right! Years of "coming from behind" after a poor start to college and poor first MCAT, have given me the mindset of being neurotic and thinking I won't get in. I just don't want to wait anymore!!

They should really have a way to check online to see if a decision has been made (a decision, not necessarily which decision it is), or if they didn't get to you and you have to wait to be reviewed until next month.

So I have access to the admissions portal and am "In Process" but haven't received any supplementary materials/emails. Anyone have an idea when I could expect to get that?!

Interviewed last week; just got the "your application is ready for review".... YAY for another whole month of just twiddling my thumbs while I wait on IU. Hoping for good news this time around. 🙂

Yeah, I wish they updated us online about whether we should expect a decision in the mail soon or not!

Has anyone been accepted yet who isn't Early Decision? Or are we all still waiting? 🙂

for those of you guys who have already interviewed, which campus did you interview at? are there any differences? thanks!

I interviewed in Indy and I really enjoyed it. From what I've heard, most of the Indy interviews were pretty laid back.

I interviewed in Muncie and it was a great experience. The interviewers and staff seemed genuinely happy to be hosting us and took time to show us the facility and arrange a hospital tour. The interviews were laid-back and conversational, but I think that's true of IU as a whole and has little to do with interview location.

The main reasons I picked Muncie were 1) it's a shorter drive from my home, and 2) I figured it would be easy to find the facility and there is parking right outside the building. It was a really good choice I think. Not having to deal with the stress of finding parking, finding the check-in building, and then trying to follow a map to my interview room in a different building, all while dealing with whatever weather happened to pop up was a real stress reliever. A friend of mine interviewed in Indy the same day and got lost on the way to the interview because of construction within the building and barely made it to the interview on time. No thank you.

Unless you're planning to attend the Indy campus, I think the day is less stressful at a regional center.

My Indy interview was laid back but left me nervous because I didn't get ANY feedback, either positive or negative, during the interview.

Still waiting for the snail mail guys... Driving me nuts especially everywhere sent out email acceptance notices!!

I interviewed the week of Sept 10th and we were told we would not hear until November. They told us the September Adcom meeting was for the ED applicants and we would be reviewed at the October meeting which I think is this week.

Is today the day perhaps that non-EDPers will start getting letters in the mail?....we shall find out...

The worst part about is that if one is not EDP, today could be the day... perhaps November... perhaps December. I wish they decided on a whole group each time or at least update everyone every month rather than let them sit for possibly months. The anticipation that I may not hear this month also kills me!!

OMG! Accepted!!!!!! Just got the letter in the mail today!!!!! I live in Indianapolis and interviewed 9/12.
Stats: 3.75, Mcat 29. Was rejected last year with 28 and had a very stressful interview the first time. I felt like they were grilling me and tried to make jokes to lighten the tension, but I guess they weren't that funny. My second interview was much better and my interviewer just wanted to get to know me. I actually felt happy going out of that interview. Still, I was very nervous and worried that I wouldn't hear back soon and would have to wait until May to find out that I was rejected again, so I was moody all yesterday. haha. I also felt like my improvement in the mcat was really insignificant (and still do) even though I studied really really hard. This was actually my third mcat (27, 28, 29) so honestly, I suck at the stupid test and didn't think it would help my admissions decision much. But I guess I'm not all that bad if IU wants me so people with lower stats, don't be too depressed! I hope my news bring you hope!

Congrats, that must be so amazing! I was wondering, when you log in to the portal now, does it still say "under consideration" as your status?

I am living ~200 miles away from Indy right now so hopefully I will get mine soon!
